I don't have time to go to the library very often but every time I do I always wish I went more. I…read morego to the local library in Armthorpe because it's handy and easy to get to, just outside of the main village centre. The staff are really friendly usually, and especially when you first start going it can be a bit confusing (well it was for me anyway!) so its good to be able to ask for help and advice without feeling like a total twit. I've managed to hire out quite a lot of books that I thought would have been hard to get hold of which has saved me a fortune and they've got thousands of books, all free! They also have reference books if you're doing research, and I think they do story sessions for little kids although I tend not to hang around those :) If you haven't been to a library in a while, give it a go, it's a free day out and you're bound to find something to take your fancy.

There is disabled access, some posts to lock bikes to, and the area in front of the library is nicely landscaped. I have always found the librarians to be helpful and courteous. The local surestart centre runs a rhyme time there on the 1st Thursday of every month, and this is very well attended.

Conisbrough library is a reasonable size for the village. It is spread over 3 floors. Reference…read moresection on the top floor, main book selection on the ground floor and children section in the lower floor there is also the odd room for hire. Conisbrough library staff are always approachable and friendly and there are many groups run for the community including parent/toddler groups etc. Conisbrough library has other agencies running help sessions for the community on various days of the week.

As you'd expect - you can hire books here (yes - really) however the slection you have to choose from seems to be the rejects from all the larger, better libraries in the area, and if you decide to order a specific title, it'll take so long to arrive that you'd be quicker writing it yourself. Theres also a very limited multimedia library, which is limited to a couple of shelves worth of products - CDs and DVDs, again, nothing much too current or relevant to the modern age. A tiny little study area can be found to the right of the main desk, which has a dated selection of encyclopedias and reference material, and theres a kids area at the front of the building, and a small reading area off to the side. Opening hours are limited too - its doubtful anyone would make a special trip here, but if you're planning on doing so, check that they'll actually be open first.
