I've been a Spurs fan from way back... Back in the day, we'd see The Iceman, et al, from the nosebleeds up in the Convention Center Arena. Then I went off to college, and moved to Austin after graduation. I missed seeing any games live during the whole Alamodome era, and have only been to the AT&T Center for the Jonas Brothers ("for my kiddo")...
Fast forward to 2012. A workfriend from SA called to see about going to a first round playoff game. We perused stubhub, etc., and there seemed to be plenty available. I contacted an old highschool buddy with more connections in San Antonio and Dallas than I can shake a stick at who said to contact Mike at Ticketwholesaler. I'm not enthused about the business name, but, hey, any friend of Rico's....
Mike walked me through what they had available, the advantages/disadvantages of each section, etc. We ended up not breaking the bank (less ticket $ = more beer $). Not only did Mike beat what we were seeing at the online ticket places, we got to avoid those pesky fees that folks like stubhub charge. We got exactly what we were looking for, and the best price we could find, with just a couple minute phone call.
Something happened while I had my back turned. Even though he is obviously a second-hand vendor, he is still able to immediately email us the "tickets" which we then print out and get scanned at the door. No needing to find will-call. Other places charge a "convenience fee" for doing that. Mike even called me an hour later to make sure I had received everything fine.
Good service from a guy that couldn't have made much/any money from us for last-minute tickets. read more
