The prices are really good and we were able to select our frame, which is included in the price. We received a discount off the already sale price for being new customers. CP, the manager, was very warm and welcoming. He was personable and took the time to get to know us, asked our names, where we were from, etc. He was very helpful in showing us different sizes, frame styles and other similar paintings that we may like. I highly recommend stopping into the Cape May Art Gallery for an enjoyable browsing or shopping experience. Say hi to CP!

I didn't have a great experience and honestly feel the need to warn people about this product. If…read moreyou stroll down the mall there are other art galleries, with similar sized originals and prints going for quite literally 100x more than the items here. A cautious shopper should wonder why that is. Upon entering, I noticed that these items appeared mass produced, as if a shop in China just cranked them out. Look closely and you'll see the same barn and silo over and over, with simply different color schemes and seasons around it. I asked the salesperson "Where do your artists come from? Are they local?" And she replied "oh they're from all over." Interesting... vague... so I pointed to a piece "Can you tell me about this artist?" and she replied "I think my brother-in-law painted that one." A joke? But again a curious deflection. Reading these Yelp reviews makes me raise my eyebrow even higher. "50%-70% off" seems to be an ongoing, continuous sale for the past 5+ years. One reviewer pointed out that she received an additional discount for being a new customer. Another for being a return customer. This isn't art. This is tacky. Ask any artist. Stroll down the mall into the other galleries and see what real art looks like, and how real galleries interact with customers. The goal of Cape May Art Gallery is in volume - to get people to buy as much of this faux art as possible to make a profit. That being said, people are comfortable decorating their walls with art from Home Goods and Marshall's, and that's fine. Just know that it's a similar quality here, despite being originals. If it seems too good to be true...

While I ran far from my best, the Crest Best Run Fest ensured I had an awesome experience!…read more I try to mix in a few new runs each year. What better way to do a new run than to jump in during their inaugural year?! The Crest Best is a weekend long run fest in Wildwood Crest. They offer a short run Saturday (5k) and a 5 and 10 miler on Sunday. I believe they also have a kids run Saturday too! Pricing is tiered based on the services you'd like - just the run, add an event shirt, add a medal, and add breakfast. Of course they sell packages which make mixing and matching a deal. I ran the 10M at the "best" rate with everything included. I was thrilled with it all. Course support was extreme. I felt like I had everything I needed when I needed. The athlete food was over-the-top. Unfortunately, finisher medals didn't arrive on time so they gave us a placeholder (nice itself) and promise to mail us the official one. Classy move considering stuff happens. I recommend this race!

You would have thought we walked in at 8:59 with 12 people, really inconvenienced the guy behind the counter apparently. There are so many rooms and we made a comment, "oh another room let's look in here," and heard the guy audibly sigh so we took that as a sign to just get out. 8:42. Saw just the front walk in and one room. While inside the guy took down the yellow flag while outside while we were still browsing and came back in - basically followed us out the door and locked it immediately. Crazy way to treat customers, wouldn't recommend this place.

Considering they've only bern open for one month at the time of this review (July 2023), they've…read moredone a nice job creating this public tour. The Cape May Point Science Center is located in the former St. Mary's Retreat, run for a century by the Sisters of St. Joseph. The Sisters are a quiet Roman Catholic group, and they reject any display of material wealth. As a result, the 38,000 square foot building is largely as it was at the turn of the 20th century, with modest improvements and careful maintenance. I admit half the reason I signed up for a tour was to get a look inside. The Sisters did not give tours, run layperson retreats or welcome outside visitors. The Science Center is now working to use the space for environmental study and education. Cape May is a key area for migratory bird traffic as well as being in a location that has both bay and ocean marine environments. During the tour they talked about how these are connected- for example, each spring, horseshoe crabs come ashore to lay eggs, which migrating birds stop and eat. The tour consists first of the history of the building, (before it was a retreat it was a home for aged and I'll former slaves, and, before that a hotel) then to the ecological and scientific studies ongoing. They host different community events from yoga and nature journaling to night sky viewing. I'm looking forward to their adding curation as they grow. It was an interesting tour where I learned a good bit, seeing part of the interior and the tranquil courtyard was also quite cool.

"Miracle on Wilmington Avenue". Brought a framing job in to Ed exactly 7 days before Christmas:…read morenot only did he get it done in time (which I honestly did not expect), the quality of the work was exceptional (I am an ex-framer and have been underwhelmed by the shoddy work passed off by the major chains), and his regular price was about equal to Michaels 'discounted' price - even with their coupon - and a full third less than their quoted retail price. The frame was of significantly better quality, and the craftmanship top notch: no overcut mats or damaged corners. Do yourself a favor and take it to Ed: you will not be disappointed, it will certainly not cost more, and the workmanship simply exceeds what you will get elsewhere.

This past weekend I attended my third Wildwood Beer Festival at Fox Park. We started coming in 2015…read moreand now look forward to the event every season. Bottom line: the organizers do a decent job with this event. With a few minimal tweaks, it could go from "OK" to great. The positives are easy. Unlike a lot of these beer/wine festivals, the event is never oversold. Are there crowds? sure. But with 40+ breweries offering 100+ samples, we've NEVER had to wait for a drink. There's a nice selection and cross section of breweries too. Brand new local craft shops like Oaklyn NJ's Tonewood set up next to national brands like Yeungling and Sam Adams. The more intimate local shops have knowledgeable brewers on hand to give some insight into the hot flavors of the summer. The non-beer vendors are great too. Want to take a break from sampling to grab a Nick's Roast Beef or sausage-and-peppers? You can. Smoke a cigar or play some lawn games? Available. So why has't the event taken off? Why have they cut down from three sessions to two sessions? A few irksome but easily fixed negatives: One is the live entertainment. In three years I have yet to see a halfway decent band. Occasionally I glance over at the stage, it's always the same story - a bunch of try-hard locals trying to fire up the two or three people watching their Sublime covers. Whatever the organizers are paying these guys is too much. You'd get the same/better effect with a DJ. Nobody is buying a ticket to the Beer Fest to stand and watch a band. Second is the logistics of the event. I buy a ticket for 12-4 or 6-10. I'd like to be able to enjoy the entire festival. The organizers won't open up the lines to get into the park until after 12. So realistically, even if you show up at 11:30, you won't be anywhere near the sampling tent until 12:15. On the back end, private security starts chasing people out at 3:45. That was odd - considering vendors were still pouring beers and the music was still playing. Overall it's a good event. A few minor attention-to-detail fixes and it could become the best craft beer fest at the Jersey Shore.
