When we were planning a visit to my home state, New Jersey, we wanted to go to Wildwood to play Fascination. It is two hours from where we were staying, but we had never been there. So, we looked up the hours, planned our trip, and got there when it was supposed to be open - after 4pm on a Thursday. The place was closed. We lost a whole day of our vacation trying to get to this place, and from what we could see looking in from the outside, the arcade looks more like a storage unit. A total and complete mess. After this unfortunate, eye opening experience, I honestly don't have many kind words for the people who own and run this place. The nicest thing I can say is, they've got a lot of work to do.

This retro arcade was full of antique coin operated arcade games and other novelties even older. We enjoyed Gallagher and astroid, Miss Packman and a few others. It is amazing to me that these upright arcade machines were still working after all these years. To be fair, some thing this old can't be in perfect shape and your expectations should be sad accordingly there are some other types of games in the back but overall it was pretty fun.

The tour guide was fantastic & really went through every possible detail on the family & the history. Came with my friends on the first day of our CM vacation on a weekend. Even though Cape May is known mostly as a Jersey Shore resort community, there's a lot of eye candy in the form of Victorian architecture - including some historic estates. One of these is the Emlen Physick Estate, and since they offer tours of the house I thought it would be a great way to spend part of my afternoon. Located on Washington St slightly away from the main hustle and bustle of CM, the Emlen Physick Estate sits on a sizeable piece of land somewhat inward from the street. The property contains the main house, a carriage house which now holds the gift shop and a restaurant, and another building used for administration. The estate is run by Cape May MAC, who worked to restore the house back in the 70s. In addition to the standard estate tour, they also offer trolley tours and evening "haunted" tours on the property. The Estate was built for Dr. Emlen Physick, who came from a prominent family. I won't give away the details of the tour, but they did a really good job discussing the history of the property, Physick and his family, as well as all of the architecture and decor of the estate. Our tour guide did a great job with every aspect of the tour, including answering our questions. One thing I noticed was that the promo pictures here on Yelp show historical interpreters guiding the tour, but we didn't have that. Our guide was great, but a historical interpreter would have been a funner touch. The tour took about 45 minutes to an hour, and afterwards we were given free-reigns to explore the carriage house which had merch and a small self-guided tour area. Overall, I enjoyed my time at the Emlen Physick Estate; it's definitely worth taking the time to explore and a welcome contrast to the typical beach things to do in the area.

Despite oppressive heat and pre-lunch hangriness, it was a phenomenal experience! Totally worth it. Our kids loved the salt marsh trail, saw everything from mud fiddler crabs and laughing gulls (in their wild, native habitat, not the beach), but also osprey, purple martins, a snowy egret (or at least it was white), horseshoe crabs, diamondback terrapins, and others, all in their native habitat. It was incredible!! After that, we went inside to see the displays and they had a touch tank. The volunteers are all very accessible to my kids and they loved asking questions! Hermit crabs, clear nosed skate, whelks, and others I can't remember. The fish tanks were filled with fish from the area, all interesting, and mostly unembellished, which is perhaps one of the most phenomenal things about the place. Some places stand on their marketing mostly, this place doesn't have showy displays. It's tactile, up close, and endemic. My kids had SUCH an amazing time that they wanted to go back more than anything! After that, we went to see the turtle room, and while there was some good learning, there, we hit our limit. So, read: it's a perfect size, not too small, not too big m. You won't exhaust yourself completely here, but you won't be bored. Sure, it's a nature preserve. You've got to have the mindset for it, but if you do, this is easily one of the best zoo/museum type experiences I've been to (and that includes San Diego Zoo, Philadelphia Zoo, and others).

This whole place is clearly a labor of love from the disabled Vietnam veteran and his wife who run it, and he was there when we visited and offered to answer any questions we might have. We spent a decent amount of time there and enjoyed looking at all of the exhibits, the children especially enjoyed seeing the booby traps & food rations. Definitely a hidden gem that you should check out while you are in the area. God bless our veterans!

I booked a trip for our group with Senior Excursions called Trains Across The Mountains based on…read morethe original announcement, which was very impressive. I questioned how we would accomplish 12 attractions in 4 days. I was told "I will make it work and I can assure you we will get everything listed on the itinerary.". That NEVER happened. We saw 5 out of the original 12 Attractions. After venues were being deleted I was told "typically we stop the first night; coming home we drive straight through", which would have been about 15-16 hours if you add food and comfort stops. How could a company called SENIOR EXCURSIONS expect mobility and visually impaired people to get off and on a bus at night. They tweaked the schedule by replacing two train rides with one. I was told the Hobo/Winnipesaukee would not accept a charter for less than 100 people. I contacted that railroad ... after the fact, as I believed what I was told ... who stated minimum charter was 45. We had 45! How the fiasco played out: first of all, Easton Coach, who they contracted, advertised Wi-Fi on their Coach but it was not available. Older bus with no overhead coverings and non-working seat belts on several seats. Driver stated he was not given driving directions by the tour company. DAY 1: Travel day to New Hampshire but changed to Comfort Inn in Latham New York. Flyer stated 3 nights in Laconia New Hampshire area, which I was told had a health issue (bed bugs). Hotel had NO BAGGAGE HANDLING after I was told "all venues had been paid and luggage included". Four of our passengers had to unload luggage and take to rooms. Dinner at Ninety-Nine Restaurant & Pub was excellent! Ice cream at Guptill's was a very good replacement for Billings Farm on original itinerary. DAY 2: Photo stop at Quechee Gorge was more like a NONEVENT as had to briskly walk to bridge for a picture. NEVER saw Quechee Village or Scenic Route 100. Next was Cog Railway replacing the original two railroads. BARELY made it but just did thanks to our driver Bill. Had 5 minutes to get 45 passengers, some with mobility issues, off bus and board train as could not change our scheduled time and no refund if we missed train. POOR PLANNING! Cog was an exciting experience. Very cold at top of mountain but we were prepared. Getting there definitely was NOT! Next stop Gilford Country Store for 45 minutes to shop. This was the ONLY shopping stop as two others were eliminated. POOR PLANNING AGAIN! T-Bones American Eatery was delicious! Depart for Fireside Inn & Suites in Gilford NH. AGAIN NO LUGGAGE HANDLING available and our fellows had to unload and deliver. This time hotel stated baggage handling was NOT INCLUDED! DAY 3: Brief photo op at Franconia Notch...nowhere near the direction we were headed for Castle in Clouds which our itinerary showed we were scheduled for 9:30 am....Castle did not open until 10 am. VERY POOR PLANNING AGAIN by company that claimed they have done these trips before. Wright WW II Museum was very informative. Dinner at Taste of Italy 23 was very good. More bus time back to hotel in Latham NY. OF COURSE NO BAGGAGE HANDLING AGAIN! Senior Excursions called hotel that morning and told them about 4 people needed assistance with luggage. Seriously, when I was told it was included! DAY 4: travel back to Pittsburgh with food and comfort stops....close to 11 hours. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED as this was PROMISED to be an EXCELLENT TRIP even with changes. VERY, VERY POOR PLANNING by company claiming they have been in business 30+ years and have run this trip from Pittsburgh PA in the past. CHECK INTO EVERYTHING IF YOU CHOOSE TO BOOK WITH SENIOR EXCURSIONS......Do not believe what you were promised! NEVER, NEVER will we travel with this tour company again and I NEVER would recommend them to anyone. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! Sandi A. Pittsburgh, PA
