I have shot numerous shows for Discovery Channel, Animal Planet and TLC in this facility, and this place is fantastic. Lars and Amy come from field and studio production, and there is little they won't do to make sure their clients' needs are met. Lars is an excellent jib owner/operator, and both keep cool heads when catering to client production needs - be it operating the lighting board, routing signal to monitors in green room + front office, or instructing how to use the rock star coffee machine!
The sound stage area is 40'x60' with a little bit less than that as usable space due to curve of the white cyc. Truck load in area is fantastic - all one level, pull truck inside. They provide set storage two warehouse doors away. Control room and audio mixing room are well designed and always being amended as necessary, with cable runs where they need to be. Great sound insulation on set. They also work with local fly pack equipment vendors. Area is handy to plenty of catering and food options.
Worth the drive from DC - it's hard to find a large professional sound stage around here, and Thundershot provides one. Colleagues I have sent here have had the same great experience.
Highly recommended to anybody looking for a sound stage in the DC area. read more
