We're a small, Veteran-Owned, business with a passion for helping others to feel safe by training them to feel confident in their abilities. We firmly believe that the "Give a Man a Fish - Teach a Man to Fish" principle absolutely applies equally to Personal Defense and Self Preservation, and that the greater the number of people who learn to defend themselves and others, and treat any injuries sustained along the way, the less chance for "Good People to Stand Idly By while Evil Prevails". As instructors, we don't only apply the training we've received, but also draw on lifetimes of experience in the Military, EMS, Law Enforcement, and Facilities Security/Management. But, we hold Instructor Certifications under the National Rifle Association, Utah Bureau of Criminal Identification, Michigan Coalition for Responsible Gun Owners, Martial Blade Concepts, Munio Self-Defense, and Protek Self-Defense. We don't believe in just meeting the standard, if we don't exceed it, we don't feel we actually achieved it.
History
Established in 2017.
I taught as an instructor with Shoot Safe Learning in Lomita, CA from 2012 through 2016, & privately as Foster Self Reliance during the same period in Los Angeles, CA. Less than a year after moving to Michigan in 2016, I began teaching Firearms courses under the name Thumb Every Day Tactical. In 2019, my wife (also my Primary Assistant Instructor) & I incorporated Thumb Every Day Tactical, LLC & continue to provide an ever expanding array of course offerings, as well as consulting & document writing services. In 2021, we added First Aid, CPR/AED, & AVERT active shooter response training to our course offerings, but after almost a year of difficulty marketing these new courses as Thumb Every Day Tactical, we formed a separate LLC, Essential Emergency Response Training (EERT), to offer those courses & services under. Meet the Business Owner: Dirk F.
I'm a U.S. Army Veteran (37F - PSYOP & 91B - Combat Medic) with multiple combat tours & numerous other deployments. I've been a Firearms Instructor for more than 35 years, beginning in the Army, then certified by the NRA in multiple disciplines, CAL DOJ, Utah BCI & MCRGO. I'm also an NRA Chief Range Safety Officer. As a lifelong student of Self-Defense & Martial Arts, I studied multiple styles beginning very young. I'm a certified Martial Blade Concepts Study Group Leader & certified to teach Munio & Pro-Tek Self-Defense systems. I was EMT trained through Paramedic level more than 30 years ago & volunteered with the Cumberland County Rescue Squad for several years while stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC. I'm also a certified instructor under the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, & Health Safety Institute for Basic to Advanced First Aid, CPR/AED, & several other disciplines, & I'm an AVERT active shooter response trainer. I'm also a Reserve Police Officer in Lexington, MI.
