Throne Room is 100% worth going to for incredible cocktails, creative cuisine, and excellent service in an otherworldly atmosphere. I don't say this lightly. As a skilled home cook and decent cocktail maker, I'm not typically impressed by most places. I can usually make better things at home, and going out is more for hanging out with friends or taking a break from my usual cooking routine. That said, Throne Room is a magical experience through and through! We went a little over a month ago, during their soft opening. I was lucky enough to snag a reservation for a Friday evening right when someone else must have canceled. After checking in with the host at Kindred, we were lead to an area of Kindred I've never noticed before. Here opens the portal to this magical space... I don't want to spoil anything so I won't go into detail, but when you enter, it's definitely a WOW feeling. We were seated in a booth at the back of the restaurant and got to have a great view of the whole place. The whole experience, from the menu (a scroll!), servers' outfits, dishware, and even the lighting, feels like you've been transported to another time and place. Our wonderful server Ricky answered all our questions about the menu and drinks, and then to our surprise, he brought us delightful complimentary welcome drinks! On top of that (and the complimentary departing drink), we ordered every item on the food menu and two rounds of drinks. Every drink was gorgeous in both flavor and presentation, and I can't wait to return to try more of them. Though the portions are on the small side, the food was incredibly creative and super flavorful. There were many, "whoa, what's in this??" while eating each item. Standouts were the roasted nuts and seeds and the brik pastry (shaped like egg rolls but filled with lentils, mushrooms, and what must be magic). Throne room is a fantastic experience that's a must-visit! There might be a slight wait past your reservation time ~10 mins but I would have expected more to be honest given the demand, and that they're technically still at a soft opening. The drinks were fantastic and so was the food! Service was awesome as well, despite being busy they still regularly checked in and even offered to make a different drink for my wife when she didn't like the original one that she had ordered. I visited Throne Room yesterday (Monday night) purely from a ChatGPT region search for speakeasies. The wait was very long, but I was comfortable. I enjoyed the experience. Walk-in status wait time for one person was about 1.5 hours. At 5:55pm I walked in past the first chainmail curtains and asked Kenny for the next-available: -8:15pm was two hours away so pass -register me on the standby waitlist, it was faster Phone number registered- and I walked back to the Kindred bar. I waited from 5:45pm-7:08pm so I drank some drinks and ate dinner items in Kindred to hold the time. At 7:05pm I got a text message to show up at the TR podium. I closed my bar tab with a credit card. Inside Throne Room was pretty nice. Kenny escorted me into a small room, icicle flame light candles above, dwarven gold wall behind the bar, four small 5-person alcoves in the side wall, and dungeon chamber monk chanting music on the speakers. At 7pm the music level fought the noise level of the crowd-adventurers already yapping in the speakeasy. I saw several women wearing medieval gowns! I saw rogues in hood and cloth and bracers. I saw elven ears. This place will be a larpers go-to after public open. The scroll menu was well made, written in medieval, very organized from light drinks on Top, to a break for teas in the middle, then down, down, down into the dungeon-to the bottom of the scroll where the heavy drinks lie. And the snacks and the souvenirs, were also at the bottom of the scroll. The lore was very interesting to read. Drinks and snacks: I got the Dwarf Elder, the 7 Dear's Love, the spicy nuts. The drinks were sweet so I will hit the heavy next time. The Dungeon Boss was the Nothing Zero Signal Bar Wraith: level 95. It continuously casted "no-signal" as a debuff spell to all T-mobile users inside 20m, with zero mana depletion and no cooldown. My T-mobile signal bars was one bar. It was super slow to no for phone surfing. I saw two Kindred WiFi networks but the bar lady said they were not for patron use. Well that's unfortunate. I will have to bring a portable hotspot or Starlink and indoor router and a long cable from the outside eating area into the speakeasy. Please give the patrons WiFi. I kinda skipped the dungeon boss and went straight for the treasure. Loot chest. I bought the Chamber sessions cassette tape, Throne Room pendant, scroll menu, and glass quaich. I discussed my return plan with Kenny. It's gonna be tough to get reservations online until the hard open date in September, but I will keep trying. First the walk into the back room is so impressive. Chainmail waterfalls and medieval sounds made the walk back its own adventure. We received a welcome and exit drink which is always such a nice touch for any experience. The old fashioned was a little fruity and extra sweet which was a cool take and not just the same as they always are. The French 75 was another favorite. Once I had heard about this place I wanted to check it out.... but of course there was a long wait to reserve seating. Thankfully, someone had cancelled the and I was able to scoop a spot. To located inside of kindred and can take a moment for your eyes to adjust to the darker lighting. The service was good, I loved the decor, they definitely took their time to perfect the look. The bathroom was a bit tricky trying to figure how to get the water from the sculpture faucets to run, but once I figured it out very cute. The bathroom itself was well done, I loved the sink and the golden toilet. The drinks were very creative and loved how the menu was presented as scrolls. The mushroom and lentil "egg roll" like app were delicious. Once the hype dies down, I will mostly likely be back. read more

Throne Room was such a detailed fun little speakeasy within Kindred in South Park! It was pretty easy to get reservations online for our party of 6. That is actually the max capacity for their tables. They started off with complimentary welcome drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic!), the menus come as little scrolls that you read in candlelight. I ordered a non-alcoholic black tea with lychee mocktail which was pretty refreshing. I tried my friend's "bloody Mary" and it was peppery and savory with a thin consistency which I was impressed by. The entire speakeasy really gave a medieval times feel and I really really LOVED all the details they put into it including the outfits of the workers! Go and use the bathroom, it was pretty amazing and now I understand why it's called the "Throne Room" xD Highly recommend for a fun themed intimate time with friends! It was their soft opening so they still need to iron out some kinks. It took quite awhile, maybe 20 minutes or so to get our check because our server was actually behind the bar making drinks. We actually ended up having to flag down the hostess when she was walking by to get it. Kory Stetina and his team have once again hit it out of the ballpark with their new concept, Throne Room -- a speakeasy hidden in the back of Kindred. It's a bit disorienting when you first walk through the chain mail doorway -- a dark passageway, water falling behind translucent walls, and the throb of an off-kilter Games of Thrones-ish soundtrack building in volume. Then, suddenly, you've arrived as you walk into Throne Room -- a medieval-themed bar with its own soundtrack, food/drinks, and vibe. My wife and I had a great time. We're huge fans of Kindred and Mothership, and Throne Room takes you somewhere entirely different. After you have a seat, you're brought a unique welcoming drink, then a LONG scroll menu. Great food, great drinks, and great service from some very talented bartenders. We had the brick pastry, the five-layer fava dip, and the garlic flatbread. I had the Seed of Horns and Devil in the Bush drinks with alcohol, and my wife did the NA Bog Bilberry and Bog Labrador. Unique flavors -- very interesting and tasty. We also ordered the spearmint herbal tea which comes with an hourglass to let you know when it's done steeping. Our 90-minute experience flew by way too fast and it was already time to go. We were given small going away drinks in mini goblets which really hit the spot. The perfect ending to a remarkably immersive drinking and dining experience. This is really an experience! It transforms you back to times long ago. Wear your medieval clothing if you're u choose. If you're on your first date here it is good because it's dark and there's loud music and booths and strong very interesting drinks. The snack food is good especially the nuts and seeds. They come warm and have been toasted, which is a nice touch. Service is good and they remind you that you only have 90 minutes to eat and drink. I loved the Throne Room and you will too. Things I loved; the overall vibe (especially if you're a GoT fan), the cocktails were fantastic, the food was delicious and incredible (and all vegan), and the service was outstanding. Special shout out to our server Ricky, who walked us through the menu, the drinks, the food and explained anything when we asked questions on and was super attentive to us with exceptional service! They give you an optional welcome drink when you first get seated, it's a delicious, flavorful, refreshing spritz. Say yes to this drink as it is small and comes in a little goblet. When you leave, they also give you a departure drink, which is non-alcoholic and has really great flavors and is refreshing and leaves your pallet cleansed. I'd like to talk about the food for a minute. We started off with this warm nut mixture with zaatar and some other flavors, don't skip on this! This nut medley mixture was fantastic, and I was really hoping they sold it by the bag because I would've bought several bags of this. We then had the olives and cave aged brie, which was delicious. The brie cheese is vegan and it's really tasty so I asked who made it and it's a company called Rebel Cheese out of Texas. We also had the hummus and pita bread which was delicious. We then had the puff pastry with lentils dish; it ended up coming out as 3 fried eggrolls with unique and savory flavors inside with a really good sauce. This was a party in my mouth. Don't skip on this one either! All of the cocktails that we tried were unique and delicious. My first drink was the Bloody Mary; it was clarified and had this beautiful red hue and tasted great. I would highly recommend. My friends ended up having a Dirty Martini and a Gimlet, which I got to taste and they were delicious as well. My second drink was the Negroni and was also really good. At the back of the bar, there is a chain wall that you walk through to go to the restroom. There is only one restroom inside. I could not figure out how to get into the restroom once I entered the chain curtain as it's just 3 stone walls (it's very dark) and I actually ended up opening a janitors closet. It was kind of funny and I don't want to ruin it for anybody so I'm not gonna tell you and hopefully no one else ruins it for you, but it's kind of fun trying to find the restroom if you can figure it out in the dark. Had to check out the local speak easy at Kindred! I loved the decor and ambiance! The drinks were a bit different and not what I was use to, but I do see the attempt to be medieval. They have a small snack section for quick bites. I got the blood Mary looking cocktail, it was different lol. You had to be there. The only down fall was the service. Want to be kind because i know they're new but it was bad. we showed up at 644 for our 645 reservation . we weren't sat until 705. while waiting to be seated a woman came up to us multiple times asking if we had reservations - we did. finally the woman said we need you to wait outside, as we stepped outside the man who checked us in grabbed us to come in. once in it is very cool and done so gorgeous! aesthetics are amazing. menu and theme are very good. drinks are good but small. i finished the dirty martini in a few sips. we got a waiter i believe his name was nick we ordered our drinks and food. food never came. we barely saw nick and wanted to order more drinks. when the bill came we asked him to remove the food from the menu he was like oh i didn't even realize it didn't come out.... that's because he didn't check on us. overall mediocre experience but if they can get it together it'll be very cool! We tried so hard to get a reservation at The Throne Room for over a month and were thrilled to finally get a 7pm reservation on a Monday night! That is because it is still during its soft opening so time slots were only released one week at a time. Official opening is September 26, 2026, and you can make reservation a month in advance then. The Throne Room is inside Kindred Restaurant in South Park. You enter through this long dark hallway, passing through chainmail curtains, before you see the wall waterfall features which are softly lit with blue lighting. The Speakeasy looks like a bar you would find inside Hogwarts, with its gothic medieval curved ceiling, metallic walls, and candle lit ambiance. The air conditioning is nice too, especially on a hot day! The staff and bartenders are very friendly and welcoming. We sat at the long bar and were presented with a menu scroll and complimentary welcome drinks (you can ask for non-alcoholic or alcoholic versions). We tried several drinks from the menu, and all were delicious! We even had some warm nuts and seeds. Don't miss a visit to its gold throne bathroom with water coming out of fountain heads on the wall. With each reservation, you are allowed a 1.5 hour stay. As we settled our bill, we were presented with complimentary goodbye drinks as well. I look forward to a future visit after it officially opens. read more

We ordered food but had to leave before it came out because we had dinner reservations after and did not expect it to take so long to be seated and like 40 minutes for the food to come out. South Park has plenty of places where you can get a good drink. Throne Room is something else. The thing I wasn't expecting was how much smell would be part of the cocktails. Ours were wonderfully aromatic before we even took the first sip, and thankfully they tasted just as good. Then you start noticing everything around you. The menu arrives rolled up in this elaborate calligraphy style. There's a welcome drink. Chandeliers, a waterfall/light effect, blue and amber lighting, curved booths, unusual textures and a ceiling you actually find yourself studying. And yes, they even created a soundtrack for the place. That's what separates it from a bar that's simply "themed." There are connections between the music, lighting, glassware, architecture, cocktails and food. It feels mystical in places, futuristic in others, but somehow it all works together. We celebrated a birthday here and shared several of the snacks, which were delicious and fit the experience rather than feeling like an afterthought. Special shout out to our server he gave us great service and surprised us with a delicious chocolate cake slice for the birthday. The service was top notch for sure. There are bars you remember because you had a good cocktail. I think we'll remember Throne Room because the entire room became part of the cocktail. read more

Throne room is AWESOME! It's a welcome addition to kindred. You enter through chainmail curtains in the back of kindred. It's a much more intimate and smaller space than kindred (or mothership). I would not recommend coming in a group of more than 4 people. The focus is on the drinks here, with a few tapas for sharing. The theme and vibes are on point. Even the servers are dressed to match the theme. The service is 10/10 even when they're so busy. They served us a small complimentary welcome drink (can get it with or without alcohol). They are so kind. I don't know my alcohol very well and ordered a drink way too strong tasting for my liking, and they happily replaced it for me. For food, the brik pastry and five layer dip were standouts. They have mocktails too, which are equally as delicious as the cocktails. read more

It was difficult to make a reservation as it's the new, hot speakeasy in town but we got lucky. We arrived at 6:30pm on Saturday night and had to wait a few minutes at the entrance where there was no hostess. Once inside, we were seated at the end of the bar next to a waterfall wall. The room is narrow with a long bar with bar seats and 4 tables on the opposite side for 3 people minimum but many more can fit. The ambiance is dark and intimate with little touches that make it special. Our bartender, Sophie, was wonderful- she was genuinely upbeat and happy to be there although she was busy. She gave us our welcome drinks and cute scroll menus. She made great recommendations and we enjoyed the drinks very much. Although I thought they were on the smaller side, the spices and ingredients used were surprisingly unique and went well together. They offered only a few small food items, all vegan, but I was disappointed we were not able to order food from Kindred as I believe they share the same kitchen. I REALLY hope they allow it in the future. They were kind enough to offer a delicious birthday brownie for a special occasion, which was thoughtful. The highlight of the experience was the bathroom. They have NO times available for reservations. EVER. According to their Instagram, they open it up every week or two, but there is not a single time available for the whole month. Not right when they open, not right before they close, not even on weeknights! I reached out to them and their parent company Kindred on Instagram several times, with comments on their recent posts, asking them to check their DM's, and they do not reply. Can't even ask them if they will accept walk-ins because they don't reply! That's just bad customer service. There are better bars and speakeasies in San Diego. (screenshot attached. I just don't see myself coming back here again and again if it means listening to the same mysterious music. I was really excited to check out this new spot! Acknowledging that this is their second weekend open so there's always room to improve. Unfortunately I have quite a few notes. Came early to my reservation as they suggested, 9:20, table was not ready. That's fine, the reservation is at 9:30. We wait until 10:15, table is finally ready. We get to the table and it's full of crumbs and the seats are dirty. The waiter breezes by and the when he laying down out water, he notices that it's super dirty. (and yes, we were trying to get his attention for this) . He then proceeds to tell us that he's the only one out there and it's their 7th day being open....thats not super confidence giving to the client . cool, fine, there's grace. We order our drinks They are so watered down and sweet. For context, we got an old fashioned, whiskey sour, and a gimlet. I'm not even snobby about my cocktails but we genuinely couldn't even finish our drinks. Customer service was rough through reception and throughout the experience. And for their 7th day being open and their gold toilet peeling felt just like a bad omen. Please get better so there's another fun and creative for us to go to in south park. read more

Be patient! Our reservation was at 8:30 and we didn't get called until about 8:50. We ordered at about 9 and one of our items didn't come out until about 9:40. So it took quite a while. And they put us at the end of the bar literally right in front of the server station. Yikes! But the bartender was very attentive and informative about the menu. The place has a really cool aesthetic inside. Really well thought out. It's definitely worth checking out! And make sure to go in the bathroom! But I think next time we'll pass on the speakeasy and probably just go to Kindred. read more
