She came up with a treatment plan. I was scared and upset when I first came in because I was told I needed a ton of work, she not only put my mind at ease but saved me thousands. Every time I see her she answers all my questions and always puts my mind at ease. She is so gentle. My one grip with her is she is a little OCD, but I guess you'd want that in a dentist, she wants her work to be as flawless as possible so I can't really complain even though these are some long appointments! What stood out most was how empathetic and caring she was on a one-on-one level, listening to my concerns and taking the time to explain every step clearly. She's also extremely responsive; whether it was a quick question or a scheduling concern. I want to share my honest experience at Throgs Neck Dental so others can be fully informed before choosing this office. I went in on January 6, 2025 for an implant consultation and to check a cracked front tooth. I had absolutely no pain before coming here. Dr. Tanu Praksh told me the nerve was damaged and insisted I needed a root canal before doing the implant. Trusting her professional advice, I paid $150 for the consultation and $1,500 for the root canal. Immediately after the root canal, I started having pain that I never had before. When I went back, she just told me to "give it time," but the pain kept getting worse. During the implant process, she trimmed my flipper without asking for my permission, which weakened it. Later it broke. When I took it back, the office "repaired" it very poorly and charged me $300 without informing me beforehand or asking for consent. The flipper became thick, tight, and completely unusable. She also trimmed my natural tooth again--also without consent--making it so thin that the shape changed and the tooth felt unstable. This caused even more pain and stress. On March 24, she suddenly mentioned there could be an unseen infection and casually suggested pulling the tooth and doing another implant--something she never warned me about before the root canal. I felt completely misled and betrayed. After putting the implant connector, my implant got infected. Pus and blood were coming out, and the connector became loose. I rushed to Throgs Neck Dental, and the owner Dr. Jeffrey Susman told me the implant was infected, had failed, and they would need to remove it. I now have to wait another six months to see if the bone heals enough to allow another implant; otherwise, I will have to get a bridge. After waiting a whole year for this implant, I was left hopeless and stressed. Thankfully, the main implant did not loosen, but the whole situation felt like a game to them. Other issues I experienced: * She offered to make me a new flipper for $1,500, even though I originally paid $300 for my flipper from another facility . Later, the owner Dr. Jeffrey Susman said he could make it for $300. * She said prices would increase if I didn't continue treatment specifically with her. * She promised discounts but never applied any, claiming prices were "already discounted." * She pressured me to rush the treatment because she was going on maternity leave. * My husband accompanied me to every visit, and the staff were rude, irritated, and disrespectful toward him. * Dr. Tanu Prakash took payment before treatment, while other patients paid after treatment. Overall, Dr. Tanu Prakash seemed more focused on money than patient care. She altered the plan, did procedures without consent, damaged my tooth, and created months of pain, stress, and financial loss. I have completely lost trust in this provider. Despite ongoing pain, my concerns were not adequately addressed initially. I sought a consultation with another endodontist, and Thorgs Neck performed a retreatment only after I insisted and provided a referral from another dentist. Even after the retreatment, I continue to experience pain. As a result, I now need to consult a specialist, which will require additional expenses and poses a significant financial burden. I hope sharing my experience helps others avoid going through what I suffered. read more

i absolutely recommend the Throgs Neck dental office in the Bx. i went there with a terrible toothache and i knew that my back tooth had to be pulled. at first i was very fearful and asked to be sedated but Dr Tanu Prakash DDS reassured me that she would absolutely take care of me and i that i wouldn't feel a thing well...she was right i didn't feel a thing she and her assistant took it out no problem they were excellent gentle kind and soft spoken; and the office is so clean and i didn't have to wait long to be seen. i truly love this place and anyone looking for excellent dentistry and responsible cost this is the place they do all kind of dental work!thank you again TNDO!! read more

I scheduled an appointment for the $150 service that included Cleaning , X-ray etc. when I get there I'm told that the receptionist Genesis booked a consultation not a cleaning. And there were no cleanings available.Then the Gentleman tells me that it good to perform a CT scan because I had told him I was having numbness around my wisdom tooth. I don't like radiation so I was hesitant but he assured me the radiation was minimum. He then tells one of the assistants (who is in training) to perform the CT scan. She does the scan and then realizes that she only got the bottom half of my mouth. And tells me she has to do it again. She does it again and then tells me something went wrong and the image is not clear. Then she calls the Dentist and tells him she's not trained enough to do the process correctly and she needs him here. ( This is while im still pinned back with my head inside a CT machine that's on). Longest 10 minutes of my life ! He then tells me that they have to perform a third CT scan which I refused and decided to leave . And the charlatans wanted to charge me $150 for 10 minutes of radiation. I confronted him and he said fine give me $50. I Shouldn't have paid him shit but I just wanted to leave that place immediately. Don't let these fake reviews fool you this Dental Office is a scam! read more

Had an appointment within 24 hrs of calling, which was great because I was in pain. The office staff was polite and professional. The dental assistant who took the xrays was a gentle sweetheart. And the fellow who did two extractions, Dr. Marks, was as pleasant and reassuring as he was skillful. Minimal pain (just the novacaine needle). The extractions were not easy because of their location in the far upper corners of my mouth, but Dr. Marks took care of both within minutes. Two visits, each time finished within an hour. Neighborhood parking was fairly easy. Close to the Hutchinson River Pkwy and 95 N/S. Not much pain afterwards. One tylenol ex was sufficient. And the prices were quite reasonable. My painful problems solved for less than 1K. Highly recommend these people. :) read more

So first let me tell you, I formerly worked as an assistant at a downtown endo specialty office which I would gone back to for the work I needed done if it was in my price range and if it had been closer. So I know a thing or two about dental offices and their practitioners. This office for me: *conveniently located *great choice of doctors *kind and welcoming receptionists *general dentistry, so can receive different forms of dental care in one location *Light handed. I received root canal from Dr. Susman and he was not rushed for my emergency dental appt he communicated well and did a marvelous job of the root canal! *Up to date equipment **Does not accept all insurances, such as Healthfirst. *No push for antibiotics It's been a month now, Have not experienced any discomfort, used Tylenol for less than 24 hours for mild soreness, I'm a baby about pain. *Have high hopes on this treatment not failing which is always a risk, the X-ray shows it was executed beautifully, none the less. *His dental assistant was attentive, friendly and courteous which is nice *The room was very organized and well kept. No dust or neglected areas. Everything covered to prevent cross contamination. So I think they follow all protocols of keeping things sanitized and clean which is extremely important. read more

Went last Saturday because I lost a filling and my tooth became extremely sensitive. With everything going on with the COVID 19 it was hard to find a place to help me. They were able to see me ASAP and help me fix my tooth, they didn't take my insurance but the cost wasn't to bad. Thank you so much. They used to be good when Dr. Klein was there. I had a newbie dentist drill a piece of my gum out while doing a crown he lied and said I needed when I had x-rays and a previous dentist saying I just needed a filling. Then an office assistant who usually saw me w/ Dr. Klein left the room (red flag) when this guy started saying I needed the crown or would lose my tooth. It seems she did not want to be party to the lie. They were pushing crowns to pay for a new expensive machine that makes crowns in house! I sent all my evidence to my credit card company and did not have to pay the bill! They lied about injuring me and even said my pain was due to my bite being off and filed down a couple of teeth that were not even worked on! Hot mess, be careful or go somewhere else. read more

This was my emergency dentist and I'd had a great experience until early 2021. My dentist of many years (Dr. Klein, who I loved) retired and I was assigned a new one. Now, keep in mind I have a primary dentist & this place was only for emergencies. I knew I needed a filling replaced b/c it was worn, well, it popped off. I brought X-rays/records from my regular dentist, who I had seen a month before (very hard to get appts there and I did not want to wait to get that filling replaced). This new dentist, @ Throggs Neck Dental, insisted that my dentist was wrong, that instead I needed a cap ($1000 more for a total of $1300) or I could lose the tooth. In confusion/feeling pressure to take care of this, I paid up. Well, he botched the job, seriously injured my gums and left me in pain that went on for months, the tooth still does not feel right!! The response of this office was 'we can fix it for more money!' They tried to have me sign a paper to disclaim responsibility in exchange for my getting a full refund. Instead, I contacted the BBB, Attorney General's office, three credit agencies and the credit card co. I did not have to pay the balance but they kept the 300 I paid in cash. BEWARE! The Dentist was absolutely amazing, diagnosing and pulling my wisdom tooth quickly and efficiently. The supporting staff was also kind and professional. Terrible service! So disappointed! Made my appointment on 8/6/20 - On the day of my appointment which I took time off from work was cancelled. I responded to their text confirming I was coming the day before. Mislead on the cost for x-rays, cleaning and exam. They don't take insurance and that's fine but I have yet to be reimbursed from my insurance because Dr. Susman is not recognized by Delta Dental. My cleaning was cancelled because the hygienist had a blind date and they were not shy about loudly talking about that all over the office. (Very tacky). Sandy who submits claims, after I told her Susman is not recognized by Delta Dental insurance told me the hold time was very long and she was trying all week but yet I only talked to her 2 days prior (another lie). If it was her money - she'd be on hold for 20 minutes. I wrote a letter to Dr. Kline about everything that happened and I have yet to hear an apology from him. So I will continue to express how horrible the service is and Covid 19 is no excuse for an office virtually empty to not provide great service. read more

Only got five stars because they don't have ten stars. Throgs Neck Dental providing Park Ave dentistry right here in the Bronx. How lucky did I get after having a tooth break, an infection develop it was time to FIND a dentist. I googled emergency dental care in the Bronx and went thru the listings. Throgs Neck Dental, click, I read thru there website and went to Yelp next. After reading two positive reviews I called to make an appointment and was seen within an hour of my initial call. What a find, Dr. Klein is an amazing Dentist. After two of his assistants took the nessecary X-Rays (shame on me for not knowing there names) both of his assistants were also awesome Dr. Klein came in to have a look. After a brief consultation explaining my options Dr. Klein went to work. To say I felt totally at ease is an understatement. When I asked how much pain was going to be involved Dr. Klein said I won't feel a thing, I FELT NO PAIN AT ALL. I had three molars pulled exactly three hours ago and am sitting here writing this with a pain level of 1 out of 10. Thoughtful, caring, excellent, and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
