I may be a little biased because this is my place of employment. However, long before I worked here…read moreI've volunteered for various fundraisers such as the yearly Art for Change and Donut Dash. This is an LGBTQ facility that offers drop-in service where homeless and those otherwise in need can shower, rest, do laundry, get a bite to eat and get groceries from our food pantry. Our community side offers a number of programs and events open to the public as well as services for those in need. We also have a mental health division with fully licensed and accredited therapists and psychiatrists. If you know anyone in need of help/services within the LGBTQ community our non-profit is here to do what we can.

Unfortunately, after they left the agency, my experience changed significantly. I was going through multiple major life changes at the time, and I voluntarily went to Western Psych for extra support. I informed Persad about this, and shortly afterward, I was told I needed to complete an IOP before returning to outpatient therapy. I repeatedly asked for clarification about the policy that was being applied to my situation and received no response. My portal access was removed without warning, and I wasn't informed that I had been discharged until 11 days later. I did not get a response from Persad until the day after I initially posted this review. The biggest issue was the lack of communication and continuity of care during a difficult time. I have a trauma history that this experience reactivated old memories of that I had forgotten. It was an incredibly difficult time that I do not wish on anyone. I'm grateful for the therapist who helped me, but my experience with the agency itself left me feeling unsupported and unable to trust them with my care going forward. Do better. The LGBT community already has enough trauma to deal with without administrative issues trickling down, affecting the quality of care.

Go to this facility with caution. I was admitted for treatment of ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food…read moreIntake Disorder), and unfortunately, it quickly became clear that the staff is primarily trained in treating physical eating disorders -- not the mental, sensory, or neurodivergent factors that come with ARFID. Despite repeatedly advocating for my needs, I was denied basic accommodations. My blood sugar had to drop to dangerous levels before anyone took me seriously. As an autistic person, the environment was extremely overstimulating -- loud, bright, chaotic, and heavily structured in a way that felt unsafe for my nervous system. While many of the staff were kind and supportive, a small number -- including one of the main nurses -- made my experience traumatizing. I was often treated with suspicion or indifference, and even basic requests (like a snack before bed) were denied, labeled as "special privileges." Meanwhile, I watched others have their needs met without pushback. My family and I were even met with hostility and unprofessionalism when raising concerns. I lost 4 pounds in just 4 days under their care, and my parents ultimately had to sign me out to protect my health. Since then, I've been trying to recover at home. Months later, I'm still dealing with the emotional fallout and have had to start therapy to unpack the trauma. If you're neurodivergent or dealing with a nontraditional eating disorder like ARFID, be very cautious. You deserve care that's compassionate, trauma-informed, and respectful -- this was not that.
