Cedar Valley Physical Therapy

I have had terrible back pain for 4 years after I had back surgery. I got to a point where I…read morefigured nothing would help me. My mom urged me to take one more shot and go to Cedar Vally PT. The physicians work endlessly to help me, I finally have relief that I didn't imagine I would ever have again. They are dedicated and put all their attention into helping you. They offer referrals if they think you need more than just them, they are great listeners, they are so intelligent and think no challenge is too big to grasp. The best part though is that whenever I tell them "I can't do this, it hurts" they don't say "ok don't do it" they said "let's find a way that you can." They have not once told me to limit myself and sit out of things, they show me the right way to reduce pain. Wouldn't trust anyone else, these people are the best!

If you have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, you know how impossible it seems to find a physical therapist…read morewho understands hypermobile joints and will not cause further damage. When I came to Kepros, I was in so much pain. Ted Kepros designed a program for me that has reduced my pain dramatically and allowed me to do things I love again, like yoga! Yeah, I have to hold onto my ballet bar for some of the movements, but I am doing it! I am walking better and just generally feeling better. Meanwhile, Jesse Otter provides the BEST myofascial release of anyone I have ever seen! So gentle -- no horrific bruising or soreness. I would go in for maintenance MFR so much more often if I weren't so booked & busy right now; it is incredible. Everyone there is friendly and encouraging, and I cannot imagine going anywhere else should I find myself injured or recovering from surgery again. Thank you, Kepros!

I don't have enough good things to say about both of my therapists, Brad and Annette. Both are experts in their field, and at each and every appointment, they have not only taken good care of my knees, but they also treat the rest of my legs, feet, etc to make sure that everything is being attended to that has been effected by my surgery. I love that Kepros believes in alternative healing practices such as Gua Sha (Gua means to scrape or scratch. Sha means sand, because the sha rash that comes up is like a sand-like texture right on the skin. Gua Sha is a Chinese medical treatment in which the skin is scraped. Practitioners believe gua sha releases unhealthy elements from injured areas and stimulates blood flow and healing). From overcompensating in my walking on bone on bone in both my knees for the last two years, I have many places in my muscles and tendons that are a mess. The Gua Sha technique has really helped to start healing this injuries. Both Brad and Annette work together on my healing plan to make sure that every session we are maximizing my healing. I feel lucky to be under their care. I hope if you are in need of a physical therapy, you are lucky enough to work with Brad or Annette. Good luck!!

The only reason I'm not leaving one star is because their care in the past has been good. That…read moresaid, if you have mental health issues, be prepared for it not to be taken into account when creating a care plan. I was at St. Luke's in August of 2025, due to kicking a tile (unintentionally). It broke my toe, and required my entire nail to be removed. At the time, I was struggling through a major depressive episode and I missed my follow-ups, and it took me almost 15 days to finish a course of 10 days of antibiotics, largely due to them prescribing something that needed to be taken four times a day to someone with severe, well-documented memory issues due to Electroconvulsive Therapy. My failure to follow the plan led to me getting the bone infected and amputation of the distal toe bone. I accept that it's largely my fault for not speaking up for myself, and advocating for myself. To this point, I didn't really have any major issues, despite the choice of QiD antibiotics. When I was readmitted, my surgery was done on Thursday, September 11th, 2025. The very next morning, I was told I would be going home that day. I was stunned. No culture had come back on my toe (it eventually did come back with 5 strains, including MRSA), and I didn't really have a plan in place. I expressed my concerns to the staff: depression and memory issues are what landed me in this situation, and I was asking for a few days more, or transfer to a SNF, or home visits from a nurse, or trips to a wound clinic, or literally any intervention that involved the presence of a healthcare professional. At that time, the staff made me feel 10 inches tall, treating me like an invalid for being hesitant to go home, despite the risk I felt would cost me the rest of my toe/foot. Not one member of the staff was actually willing to go to bat for me, preferring to tell me there was zero chance insurance would accept, rather than even try. I called my insurance (Wellpoint DSNP), and explained the situation. They told me that given my history, I absolutely would have been approved for some accommodation, if the doctors had taken the time to ask. According to my insurance's employee, my past history showed that not having an accommodation would potentially cost more. My post-surgery instructions were to take my antibiotics, and rest it. No instructions on wrapping it up, or putting antibiotic ointment on it, or even instructions on how to rebandage to protect it from the 30 pets' (no, I'm not joking, we have 30 pets, all rescues) hair that could easily get into the wound and reinfect. A fact I made very clear to the staff. I want to make sure that I put this all in one place like I did for the staff: My memory and depression are the reason my original plan failed. I live in an environment where I am surrounded by pet hair... even if our home is generally well-kept. I have family members at home, but they're disabled, and one of them is actually blind (my fiancé). As much as I love him, he would have no valuable input on the status of my toe, or even be able to assist with care. Now we are to September 22nd. I had a visit with a doctor to look at the status of my toe on Friday the 19th, and during that visit, I was told that they do not remove the stitches in that office. THEY LET ME LEAVE THE HOSPITAL WITHOUT A PLAN TO GET THE STITCHES OUT. Reread that again. I could be another two weeks with the stitches and not one person from the hospital staff would have set up an appointment. Thankfully, the University of Iowa exists. My doctors at the University will get me seen and take care of what St. Luke's was too lazy to set up. Long story short: if you have mental health issues or need accommodations, find yourself another hospital. If you're in an emergency and have no other choice, don't tell them about your mental health, as you'll just be talked down to for it.

She was totally clueless about my condition despite many visits. In the end she said she didn't know what I had. It couldn't be anything else and it couldn't be IBS. She had no answers for me. Oh and the colonoscopy she did, was so very painful. She seems to have absolutely no experience at all, I awoke during the procedure despite being sedated due to the pain and realized the nurses were pushing top down on my colon because it was too inflated by what Akhouri was doing incorrectly. I found myself pushing downward with my hands as well. It was intensely painful despite sedation and I have given birth with no pain relief as well. *Here's the ICING on the cake*: After the various fruitless appointments and no answers from Akhouri my PCP referred me to university of Iowa with a specialist for suspected Pancreas issues. Akhouri found out about this appointment (for which I waited 2 months with severe digestive issues) and Sent them an email that I didn't need that appointment because she thought I didn't have pancreatic problems (without any scans or tests). The specialist refused to see me and the appointment was cancelled without my knowledge. Later Akhouri's nurse calls me up to have me book more appointments with her telling me that I have GI issues and I must be seen, I could sense her panic that I was leaving their service to be seen elsewhere.
