They tell me it is "appropriate" to wait 6 days to get a cast on it. It isn't appropriate in my opinion (and my GP) to make someone wait 6 days to intervene with a break and a lot of pain. I think it is the holiday weekend issue but surely they need to be able to take urgent needs, holiday or not. But as noted by others, you do not have much choice in CR to go else where. You'll die of old age waiting for anyone to help you. Sure, they can put you in a room, there's plenty of empty tiny little rooms they can leave you in for all day and night while they ignore you and ignore your winces of pain. This the last time I go to any ER in Cedar Rapids, Iowa unless I'm unconscious or dead. At both hospitals they are very snotty and disrespectful. I don't know what happened to this place but I won't be caught alive in there ever again.

was told about a year back by my primary provider that she was refusing to refer me out to a GI…read morespecialist due to the fact that they were understaffed and it would "take a while", and because my issues didn't seem severe enough. that was after a 5 minute conversation (in which i described pain so severe that it is causing me to be unable to work or do much of anything!). she ended our appointment early and did nothing for me despite the fact that i was and am struggling with severe pain, discomfort, and fatigue. when i did finally get to a GI specialist at mercy, no thanks to her, i found out i have severe, chronic, and completely disabling GI issues...they proceeded to do nothing about it. this place has set back my treatment for months. don't go here if you can help it. mercy is honestly infamous for this kind of mistreatment and i knew what i was getting into - ive been dealing with medical issues my whole life and i know how to advocate for myself, and yet i still would have been better off pretty much anywhere where they actually care.

Thoughtless, verbally and physically abusive, dishonest on records, she contradicted 3 other doctors that had seen me for the same condition the same day. I have written to University of Iowa as well as Mercy CR to have notations made that she never be allowed to treat me again under any circumstances. She saw me 6 days after my procedure, but was gone from Mercy in less than two weeks post-op. I wouldn't send someone I hated to be treated by her, much less a loved one. I would say the only people she should be allowed to work on is the dead, but her gross untruths in her medical notes would be ethically questionable for even that. Nobody should have this woman inflicted upon them.
