Not sure, he might be the manager or the owner. He asked us whereabouts we were visiting from and we told him Southern California but that I was originally from San Francisco. He was telling us he used to work the fishing boats up and down the California coast. We enjoyed talking to him and hope to see him when we return next year to Hanalei town. Located right in the middle of town on the main drag along Kuhio Highway. Just after Titus Kinimaka's Quiksilver store and before the plaza BIllabong (AI Forever) is in. Cant miss it. I had one of each and they all tasted like they were sitting there from early in the morning or even late the night before. The musubi was a 2/5, egg roll 2/5 and the fried chicken was actually pretty good 4/5. The customer service there was pretty good but the clientele looked pretty sketchy. There was a guy in there that looked like he was ready to rob the store and there was a young guy outside with missing teeth asking everyone for change. Overall, Menehune's a great place to stop and get snacks if you don't mind the shady customers.

I noticed an open space in front of this beat up liquor store. Then a grumpy old women wearing dirty pink clothes looks at me and points to a hand made sign she had displayed behind her store window saying "No Parking for customers only" and she tries to enforce it. I left thinking maybe she had paid for a loading permit or something. Came back around and saw another car there and it looks like her husband and son was talking to her. Guess she was saving a spot for them. Just goes to show you that some locals aren't friendly nor welcoming to others.
