I frequent many thrift stores in the area with this one being at the top of my list. I love what i find here! My last purchase was a beautiful queen sized down alternative comforter. I have found a great selection of books which were very useful for our homeschool. Of course I have to scour the DVD selection because physical media is all the rage right now! alas, it was mainly outdated or foreign and i walked away with only a few familiar titles. While I was back there i took a look at the electronics and found a brand new crockpot for just $15. i love that you can test out electronics to see if they actually work. i don't usually buy clothes here but this Halloween I was participating in a trunk or treat with a sports theme. At Thrift City I found a Jerry Rice jersey for $10 to wear to go along with our sports theme. the parking lot is normally pretty packed but it is big enough to find a spot without a long wait or needing to park on the street. Thrift City is next to the Burger King and across from the Windfall Donuts so grab you a donut right after you save that money! speaking of saving money, you will always leave here with a coupon! they offer 2 options for coupons after every purchase and they stamp it on the back of your receipt so don't ever throw those away! i happened to make that mistake but luckily when i was in line a lady turned around and offered me one of hers! that was so sweet! i got that down alternative comforter for only $7! a steal!! read more

Honestly, this used to be my go to thrift spot, but with the way it's picked over by resellers and the way items are priced lately to reflect that, it hardly feels worth it now. The decent items, are priced far beyond what they are worth for a thrifted item, and what is left on the rack that is affordable, feels like it should have been thrown away. Selection is mostly t-shirts and outdated dresses. I think the worst thing is the selection of pickle and empty jam jars that should be recycling but are being resold as if they are something of value. read more

I've been here a few times. I actually got my Jessica Simpson jean top that I get lots of compliments on. I forgot the other item that I got. It was also a shirt. That day, the cashier was extremely nice. The next time I came, I was specifically looking for brooches. I couldn't find any and the gals were nice enough to let us look through their jewelry case. However, when I was looking in their handbag section, one of the bags smelled so heavily of cigarettes, it gave me a headache and I had to leave. I also hate that they sell their pots and pans separately from the lids. However, there are some good deals here if you know how to shop for the values and deals. read more

This clean organized thrift store-is one of my value bargains stores they regularly have 50% to 75% designated days to shop donated items from locals in the community-woot woot. They could use a spoof paint job what a big warehouse, perhaps and I know they recovered after someone started a fire and they fixed it up and reopened=yippie! They keep are open 7 days a week. My home is beautiful and modern style I've been told by guests. Much of what I bought there was second hand, but high quality=+ because I know what to look for like: *Sheet Sets *Pillowcases *Pillows *Dishes *Clothes/Shoes *Blender *Crockpot *Furniture *Blue Ray Players that I pretested and work great I recommend them for local goods to donate and purchase. This is a really popular thrift store. They have a decent size parking lot and it is often full! My mom and I came in recently on a sunday. There was no parking so we left and came back later haha I'm glad we did, although by the time we got to this spot, mom was too tired to go up and down the aisles as she usually likes :) I, however, found a few bowls and Pyrex baking dishes. I need to replace these items and refuse to purchase new and create more "stuff." I don't luck out much because I'm picky that they not have chips, burns, etc. The line moved slowly which allowed me to walk around a bit. Again, I lucked out finding a couple button up shirts for my husband - with tags still on them so I knew he'd be ok with them haha (he is not pro-thrift like me). There are only a few thrift stores I will look for women's clothing, and this is not one of them, because I refuse to comb through racks of far too used items or items priced too high for what they are. Many thrift stores arrange clothing by color which I am not a fan of; I don't think it's too hard to sort by size but whatever. This store doesn't even organize by color; they just throw everything on the racks. No thanks. The slow moving line, disorganization and badly priced women's clothing items is my reason for three stars. read more

This store has come a long way since it's beginnings. The parking lot has been repaved (and it was FULL when I stopped by today). Clothes and items on shelves are more organized these days. All the kids clothes were on hangers in one area. Scrubs were all together, work out clothes were all together, etc.. They still sort like items by color, not size, but everything on hangers makes the hunt easier. Today I found two items marked $9.99 each, but my total bill came to $10.81...50% off! Huge selection and great opportunities to score good deals on selected merchandise each day. Each day they offer percentages off the colored tags. As far as I know They don't let you know ahead of time what days are what colors. But they have it posted outside the store closer to the street. Keep in mind, this is a thrift store-so you will have to search for what you are looking for, and there will be areas of the store that are a little more "tossed" than others. But I think they try their best to keep the organization up as much as possible. If you spend $20 they give you a 50% coupon for next time! So you can score on already great prices. Worth it to go just to look around or I think it's sectioned off enough to go in and look for specifically what you want. I've done that twice and the first time, I found 1/2 times, and the second time I found 3/3, plus 3 more items, all in great condition! Keep up the great work Thrift City! read more

I agree with Mary Lou's review. I, too enjoy rummaging through thrift stores to find unique or quality items at a bargain price but this store didn't do it for me. Everything was mixed up and so unorganized. Most of the items for sale were extremely worn out. I get it, it's a thrift store, things are worn but these items were so beat up and surpassed its useful life that they should've gone straight in the trash. They don't categorize by sizes either so you can be there all day just trying to find something in your size. Glad I made time to check it out but more than likely won't return. read more

Great new-to-me thrift store in Central Fresno. My first visit was on Sunday 3/1/20. First, I'm glad they are open Sundays! 2nd, they have a lot of inventory--the majority is racks and racks and racks of clothes--but there is much more than just clothes. There were 3-4 huge shelves of books, magazines, a separate shelf of children's books too---for book lovers this was a pretty great place to browse. The books are not highly organized and a bit dusty but worth it for the $0.49 each price--all books, hardcover & paperbacks. The glassware/kitchenware seemed to be pretty organized and a fair amount of selection. I didn't look at many of the other sections-some areas looked neater than others and in general the whole store could use a good mop/dust/airing out. I only looked through the pants section of women's clothes. I'd definitely come back again to go through the women's clothes rack by rack to look for some diamonds in the rough. I was specifically looking for 90's era vhs tapes, cd's, and cassettes, and a pair of woman's overalls. Spending about 30mins browsing plus a short wait in line, about 2 minutes, I found a pair of short overalls $3.95, 3 books , 3 CD's, and 3 VHS tapes. This store has definite potential--tons of space and tons of inventory. If you don't mind investing a little extra browsing time and enduring a little bit of dingy/dustiness you can find some gems in this place. I'll definitely go back. About.... Thrift City Inc on 904 72nd St E, Tacoma, WA 98404/ October 23, 2022 at 10 am I have been going to this store for years and I love it. I buy and often donate items. I hardly spend a week without going there. yesterday, I went there late and I was basically the last customer. I had a 75% sale coupon for Sunday and I saw a couple of things I wanted to get today. This Sunday morning, I went there before opening and was among the first 3 people who entered the store when it opened. I went straight to the shoe department and I discovered that there was already a lady in the store. The manager handed her a bag with about 15-20 pairs of shoes that she had already selected plus other items. I confronted the manager and told her that this wasn't neither fair business nor fair practice. What I understood is that, the current manager breaks laws...by letting in some people close to her ( are they her friends? side business partners? family members? ) and these people choose the best stuff before letting in all other customers. Also, she personally checked out that lady who had more than two full carts with filled with the best items. When I confronted her again, she lied and was trying to tell me the lady entered with us. If this store receives free items from Pierce counties tax-payers, it needs to serve all the residents in an equitable manner, not just letting in the manager's close people to come early and select all they want, before anybody else. I also complained to one other worker at the counter. I am still looking for a place to complain about the current manager's practices but I start with this review. I really don't care, but they keep the stuff that's not selling for a while and then mark it down way later. They had a leak in the ceiling in the back. Now it has a musty smell toward the back. Everytime I start to look around they always send like one or two employees to watch me like I really want to steal from a thrift store. I watched a lady steal her azz off. Rude staff on the floor won't price an unpriced item and if you do ask for it to be priced, they keep it and give to male manager who is shoveling stuff out the back door to sell elsewhere. If you're interested in buying something in showcase or behind counter cocky and ignorant male manager will question why you want it, argue with you, then announce it's not for sale. Anything a customer shows interest in is suddenly is off limits and removed from the store. Fresno has many thrift stores and all are better than this one. The staff alone is reason to stay away. Why spend your money where you're treated like crap? Girl at front checkout stand is always nice and she alone deserves this one star. read more

This place could be so much better. It's normal size thrift store, but it's unorganized. Whoever is writing the prices on things has horrible writing. A lot of it is illegible. The only thing that is organized is the coffee cups and tumblers. Everything else is in disarray. A lot of it is just tossed, I get that customers make a huge mess but it's looks like a tornado hit it. Prices on certain items is insane. Overpriced on 3/4 of items in the store. Trying to charge 20 on a pair of very used shoes. Lighting is very poor and is always cold in there. They don't even test out items to see if they work or not. I have seen broken and missing things on items. But yet they try to sell them at a overprice. Whoever is in charge needs to go look at other thrift stores to see how they are organized along with pricing and take notes. You can always tell when a thrift store is personal business versus a charity thrift store. There are better thrift stores out there. read more

First of all I just wanna say it is ridiculous the prices they put on items they have some items priced at 400!!! I get that it's a micheal kors bag but come on I checked it out ans guess what IT NOT EVEN REALL!! straight up scam. This is nothing against the cashiers as you can tell they work their asses off I see them constantly running around trying to get things done dealing with very rude (to the point where I feel like they might hit the cashiers) customers with no manager in sight. I went in once had a problem with an item being broken in a very important place it was valued at 50 so I asked the cashier if I could get a discount ans she told me only the manager could handle it. Great no problem I asked her if she could bring him out and she said he wasn't there or wouldn't be willing to lower the price. It was 3 pm on a Saturday and I asked the girls who was In charge ans they brought me a woman named Christina who isn't a manager she's just a cashier and they have her doing all of this problem solving FOR 14 an hour she gets paid under minimum wage and does things a a manager should be doing on a amanager salary. Absolutely Unacceptable. Now I don't want the cashier to get in trouble they do a great job management sucks here. I come to find out these girls close ALONE everyday and they seem scared sometimes I've seen them be skittish around closing time when people come in and they said they are closed and then people ignore them and keep walking in and obviously since the whole store is only under the care of the two girls who I might add look like they are 19/20. No security at all especially in this bad area of town. They have one manager for the entire store all 7 days and most of the time he doesn't bother to be there they need a second manager. This store would great under the correct management ans they need a raise these girls deal with so much ans the manager there doesn't seem to appreciate their work. for the amount of work they do they deserve so much more than just 14 an hour. Don't get me started in the working conditions I've seen the cashiers have no bags at all and deal with customers berating them about it when it's not their fault it's completely managements fault. Thrift City is no joke, this place is huge. You think you see the end, you're only halfway. You can spend the day here rummaging through the thousands upon thousands of pieces of clothing. The clothes collections aren't well curated; you will have to go through every single hanger to know you've checked for your size and some of the stuff is really trash on a hanger, but idk, I enjoy working for my treasures and I have found quite a few pieces for my kids here. The one big thing I would change is there needs to be outlets to test appliances and electronics or they need to end the no returns policy. It's a stupid set up the way it is, who wants to risk throwing money away? The one little thing I would change is the stupid stickers they put on the dishes etc, if you're going to use black crayon on them anyway, just write on the dishes so it comes off without a nuclear war against it once we get home. read more
