I was excited at the prospect of finding a repair center for my vintage analog synth collection, but after bringing 4 of my synths here, and still none of them functioning, and very large outgoing expenditure, I'll have to look elsewhere. They simply aren't up to the task. One synth sat there for nearly a year, and when I finally demanded to know what was wrong with it, they said they didn't know & charged me $400. Communication is a problem there. I have 40 years experience, and their explanation for a non working synth, or not doing a thorough job is that it is the nature of analog. Very patronizing. I would not recommend this place if you are a professional, more for the casual hobbyist with no time restraints & no budgetary limits. read more

They repaired my Hammond it it works perfectly after over 2 years. The turnaround was very reasonable. Highly recommend.

Great store with tons of cool gear. Like you stumbled onto a warehouse with synths set up. I was able to play for three hours through headphones and it was awesome. Very friendly and helpful. Sam and Kaz were awesome. Low key and friendly. I drove three hours one way to THREE WAVE to play 5 potential synths on my list. Turns out I need 3 of them! read more

If I could give minus stars I would well after 7 months horrible communications synth not repaired.... And it's actually worsened the issue. The piece at least turned on before.....now it doesn't.... Disgusted! And offered no remedy or at least my bench money back. Probably gonna cost me more to fix his mess. read more

I went there once, and found the staff very helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to setup a tiny demo area when I wanted to try a Waldorf synth. They also sold me an octatrak, which I had them mail to LA without incident. The vibe of the place is really cool, because it combines a warehouse and a store into one space. There are a lot of boxes and inventory scattered around, however it adds to the "treasure trove" aesthetic. More importantly, they also have an enormous and up-to-the-minute inventory of electronic instruments from Korg, Roland, Moog, Elektron, Doepfer, Strymon, MakeNoise and others. Like another reviewer my Moog took 2, count 'em, TWO (!!!) YEARS to be repaired and it wasn't even completely done. He never gave me an estimate though I repeatedly asked for one. Kept saying it "is so hard to give estimate". Um, that's what repair people do. Get a grip. He kept telling me that he was waiting for parts... for months and months and months. This is a run of the mill Moog. I've seen a dozen of them over the years. They're not rare and people parts these out all over the place. I can't repair old synths myself, but I've owned many over the years and had 8 nor 10 repaired. I even offered to source the parts he was looking for if he could just tell me the rare parts he was looking for. Of course it being utter BS he wouldn't tell me. So of course when I go to pick up the unit the repair cost is 2/3 the price of what I'd buy the same unit mint on ebay. This was a fully functional synth that needed new sliders, new pots, a loose jack replaced and to have a broken frame repaired. He made no attempt to fix the frame but claims he did. There should be some, any kind of evidence of an attempted repair. There is none. Exact same condition. And It's far from mint, lets just put it that way. I don't think I can sell it for more than what it cost him to repair it. Note: the main room is about 80' x 60' and chock full of beautiful old synth awesomeness. But literally half the room's keyboards have tags on them. These are all the pending repairs. He actually said to me "some of these people have been waiting a lot longer than you" and smiled to me as if to say I was lucky. Seriously!?!? He's clearly in completely over his head and has no desire to rectify the situation. He has the work and clearly is charging enough to hire someone. So if you don't need to pick your gear up for a couple of years and like being surprised with exorbitant charges, you my friend have found your repair tech. read more

I am a Three Wave regular for about 2 years now. I have bought stuff from Sam, sold him gear, and even had some stuff fixed. He knows what he is doing. Not sure whats the deal with guys like Craig (he reviewed below) who write about bumping into boxes at a synth store? Chill out dude, its a synth store, not a strip club bathroom. Of course there are boxes. Also, the prices are pretty much up there on the wall next to the kit. I've seen it. And unless you are recently blind, you will see it too. Bottom line. If you can get to this place, go. Sam is a generous guy and has been involved with Synths, Keyboards, Drum Machines, etc for over 50 years. Dude is legit and won't rip you off. read more

This place is really cool as far as vintage synthesizers goes. Other wise its kinda messy. Theres new stuff still in boxes just kind of lying around, which looks messy. Theres parts of the store where if you don't watch where you're walking you might fall into synths that are in a pile on the floor (repairs?) The guy lets you play anything you want for as long as you want but theres no prices on anything so you have to ask constantly. If the prices were on everything I probly would have bought something but by that point I was tired of asking every 5 minutes. I originally stopped by because I have a keyboard that needs a repair, but seeing the pile or repairs that were before me put me off. I dont want to wait such a long time for that. It's a neat place for sure but maybe if it changed a little I'd consider buying or getting a repair. read more

Hi, I almost forgot to write this review but now here it is. I dropped off a Roland D-50 for repair. When I took it home the repair was not completed to my satisfaction. Sam made it right by taking the unit back and fixing it completely until I was satisfied. He is a very honorable man and stands next to his electronics and his repairs. I would highly recommend using his services and or purchasing equipment from him. read more

I really wanted to like Sam. But he deeply disappointed me. Brought him my synth for repair. Not only did he not do a good job. He said the repair is too complicated and it would take him too long. He overcharged like crazy for labor on another synth. Makes long descriptions of the work he does, so that he can justify many hours of labor. This feels dishonest. Never will I go there again. He is a business man that wants to rip off his customers. Another example: he does not have prices on the instruments he sells. Does he make up the price after judging how much the customer can pay?
