Faust Harrison Pianos rebuilt my 1920s Steinway L (baby grand) piano in 2017-2018. I chose Faust Harrison over Steinway for this work because of recommendations from other pianists. One friend, who performed professionally for decades and is now the dean of a prominent music school, contracted with Faust Harrison to rebuild several Steinway concert grands. She was the first (but not the last) person to recommend I take my piano to Faust Harrison. At this family-owned and operated company, one receives personalized treatment that inspires trust and confidence. Undertaking a rebuild for a classic Steinway feels like leaping off of a cliff for the first time and hoping the parachute opens. You want to trust that everything will be fine, but it represents a huge financial investment and, for a pianist, the risk that the instrument will not sound or feel the same as it did in its salad days. The entire Faust family attended carefully to my piano's needs, they were clear about the costs and details of the work, they justified their choices of parts, they listened to what I wanted and expected, and they gave my husband and me a tour of their rebuilding workshop. We were duly impressed at the high quality of craftsmanship and the years of experience that inform crucial choices like where to purchase wood for the soundboard and whom to hire for winding the strings. Every aspect of rebuilding has been carefully thought through, and each piano receives individualized treatment. But the proof is in the eating of the pudding, as they say. I can barely keep my hands off of the piano and I have let my work slide since the piano arrived earlier this week. I am so very, very pleased at the result, which is an instrument with a rich, full tone, even sound throughout the range, and beautifully responsive action. The shiny new parts look absolutely splendid. The piano I wanted was the glorious Steinway that I practiced on for 12 years as a youth. Faust Harrison not only restored that piano, they improved upon it. Moreover, their respect for the instrument and for my husband and me was evident at every turn. This piano has been in my family for over 90 years, as it was a present when new from my grandparents to my father. The piano's rebirth means it will be with us for many more years. We did extensive research on which piano to get for our aspiring pianist aka daughter on the Internet and we stumbled on the Faust Harrison Website. It was such a hard decision because there were so many great choices. Acoustic, digital, hybrids and so many different brands. Dmitri was super helpful and speedy over the email with my questions. We had no hesitation visiting the showroom and trying out some of the pianos. We were assisted immediately, had our questions answered, daughter received some encouraging words for her piano playing and we purchased our piano right there. Right before we left, we soon found out that Sara Faust, the renowned pianist was who helped us with the purchase! The delivery was speedy and professional. I bought my Steinway B, Serial Number 80678, from Sara Faust in 1999. It was not an easy decision, but Sara was incredibly helpful. She not only picked out the best piano for me given my price range, but also pointed me in the direction of a reasonable loan company (Greentree - sadly they no longer exist). The piano had been picked up in an estate sale and had recently been rebuilt, so Sara was selling it "as is". I knew it wasn't up to the usual Faust Harrison standard, but it was plenty good and the price was right. I knew that I'd be back someday for a rebuild. That someday happened in 2013, and I have never been happier. I had everything but the furniture done: new action, hammers, trapwork, backchecks, soundboard, the works. And it's a dream instrument. I'm so happy I gave myself this gift, and so grateful to Sara, Irving and the entire staff at Faust Harrison. They know exactly what they're doing. The action is smooth as silk and the sound is achingly beautiful. When I moved from New York to Ottawa last year, I had to find a new technician, who was drooling within 15 seconds of inspecting the instrument. Like, literally, I did not say a word about the instrument, but within seconds he remarked, "Well, whoever rebuilt this knew exactly what they were doing". A purchase of this magnitude is never easy, but if you've made the decision to do it, run, don't walk, to Faust Harrison. It's hard finding a piano store these days, but we came across this place right down the street from the diner, while visiting family in NY. We stopped in to browse and let the kids practice a little bit . The salespeople were great, Christopher Pfund in particular, and I was impressed at their knowledge about pianos new and old. There was no super sales pressure, no hard sell, just nice people with nice products. If you're in the market for a piano in Westchester, definitely give them a try. read more

It doesn't get any better than Faust Harrison Pianos when you're looking for something piano-related. The wide selection of pianos, customer service, information, pricing, and creative opportunities are what make me a loyal FHP fan. The showrooms in manhattan and white plains are both beautiful, and the factory tour in the white plains location is a very unique experience. you get an inside look into the various stages of their piano restoration process, and Josh gave a very knowledgeable tour. they've also added cool art exhibits to both showrooms as well. a trip to either showroom is not just about pianos-- you feel as if you're taking part in a tradition of music. i performed a concert of original music with my band in the white plains showroom in december 2012, and it was one of the best performance experiences we've had. The acoustics of the room were excellent, Sara, Irving, and Jessica were great hosts, and we got to use a Yamaha CFX!! It is certainly hard to come by such a beautiful piano when playing in jazz clubs around nyc. My family purchased a Steinway M from FHP about 20 years ago and it is absolutely my favorite piano ever. I also have numerous friends who have purchased pianos from them and always recommend FHP to anyone who's looking for anything piano-related. FHP has a very intimate feeling as well, and the care they put into their pianos translates to the way they deal with customers. read more

Absolutely amazing. The sales associates are sooo incredibly nice and this place has the best customer service I've ever came across. I bought a piano & bench from there and the bench had a loose leg so I went there and complained. The woman working there told me not to worry and that they will come to ME and fix it. They really kept their word! Shortly after someone came and actually replaced the item and gave me a whole new bench! I am so incredibly happy with this company. We loved working with Faust Harrison Pianos and greatly appreciated their knowledge and guidance as we reached our decision. Twenty months ago we purchased a 1938 mahogany Chippendale-style Steinway M. They provided plenty of time to play and experience the piano, as well as to play others to compare and contrast. Most important to them was that we loved the piano we purchased. And we do. The piano is "happy" in its new home and we are thrilled. In addition, the piano movers from Bates Brothers were wonderful -- took total care of the piano in a very difficult move-in situation and with a pleasant attitude throughout.
