There are sales people who will lie right to your face to try and get you to buy and then there are honest, knowledgeable people like Andy. Apparently, he's been selling pianos for many years and he was very easy to work with. I went to his store first and then made my rounds to other local places. When faced with making a piano purchase, it's best to educate yourself. Figure out how much you want to spend and learn as much as you can about what's out there. Some stores who carry many brands often are selling "grey market" pianos or "stencil pianos". Look it up and learn the meaning of these two terms. After we did our homework and shopped around, I returned to Rockaway Music. I didn't feel like I was being misinformed there. There was no pressure and I found the environment to be less sales like than other showrooms. You can tell when someone is being sincere, or at least I feel I can. If you are shopping solely based on price and not on quality, you might feel this store is expensive. If you are more worried about getting a quality product and honest answers, you will be happy here. We bought our piano here, the delivery went smoothly. I felt very comfortable and confident purchasing our piano from this store and I would highly recommend it to anyone in the market for a piano. Yesterday, my daughter REALLY wanted me to teach her how to play but my piano hadn't been tuned in like 20 years. Plus, it was involved in a rough move over 10 years ago. So last night, I searched for a local tuner with good reviews and found this business in town run by Michael Gopenko. Like an asshole, I texted him at 9:30pm but he actually responded right away with details including his prices ($140 for a regular tuning, $210 for a double tuning) and offered to show up at my house at noon the next day. Today, though he was running a little late, he notified me before the appointment. When he arrived, he tested a couple keys against a tuning fork and had me notice that it was really jacked which was the case for all the keys and that I needed a double tuning. I left him to do his thing and he finished within an hour. He asked me to test it out by playing a couple of songs and wow- they sounded like they should! Super recommended! NOTES/TIPS: **Clean off your piano of all sheet music, pictures, and everything else before he arrives. **He accepts cash or check+tax. **During the covid crisis, he arrives wearing a mask and gloves but will take them off with your permission to have an easier time working.

I really liked him because he walked me through everything he was doing. Also my piano was VERY UNLOVED. It had gummy keys, thick layer of dust, and many pieces of random stuff inside. It was much lower than the standard note so my piano would require double tuning, which is twice the costs because it would need another visit. However, he said if I didn't mind the sound after he tuned it, then it would only be $175 for that day. If later on I do decide I wanted the double tuning then I would only pay the difference. Only minor Note: Emailing him would probably be better because it a little bit hard to understand him over the phone. But when my piano needs tuning again I will definitely call him!!
