We also briefly visited Antioch college, Alma mater of Rod Serling. This idyllic town and hotel remind me of the perfect start to an episode of the Twilight Zone. The loft features high ceilings and my wife compared it to staying in a treehouse. The room was immaculate and had several amenities, like a coffee pot and a microwave, so one could enjoy breakfast in-house if that was in your plans. There's also an adorable breakfast nook under a window looking out over the trees. Yellow Springs, Ohio is certainly my kind of quirky and lived up to expectations. From Jailhouse, it's a short walk, say five minutes, down to the heart of the town, and the famed Little Miami trail. This is a perfect location for those hoping to enjoy what the town has to offer. Ample parking was behind the inn; newly asphalted too! The reception lobby was open and inviting. The timber beams, heavy hand tools and dated photographs nodded to the entire area's rustic roots. Manager Joan greeted us warmly, and regaled us with stories of the village's pioneers and valued residents. It was wonderful! Our first floor Queen Room (~ $160) was spotless, fresh and quiet. Bedding was comfortable, as was the room temperature. All appliances and fixtures worked well. Loved the Evelyn & Crabtree toiletries as well as the thick, fresh towels! Breakfast was very simple, consisting of cereals and canned fruit salad with a few cellophane-wrapped sweets, but the local coffee brew was hot, fresh and strong! We visited the little gift shop, and picked up a history book and vintage postcards. There are local crafts and wares available too. Pros: Very clean room, very thoughtful little accommodations: two free bottles of water in the fridge, an honor system (although warning of a camera) supply of food in the office that has different snacks and drinks that you can just leave 50 cents and take, and free farm fresh hard boiled eggs. A very nice outdoor area complete with a dog walking space, a fire pit with chairs set up, a gazebo, and a hammock. Free, easy to access Wi-Fi. Very close to downtown restaurants and bars. Plenty of mirrors in the room (including a full length mirror.). Very comfortable beds! Plenty of electrical outlets. Room was quiet and peaceful for sleeping. Cons: Very low water pressure, not enough shelf space/surfaces in the shower to put shower supplies/washcloth on. Towels were very rough and scratchy. As you can see, the pros definitely outweigh the cons (and the pros were VERY pro, and the cons were just mild inconveniences.) Most importantly, you can tell that a lot of care goes into the upkeep of this Motel. There are personal touches everywhere, which adds so much charm. It was clean, safe, and close to downtown. I was looking forward to the s'mores around the fire ring and the friendly proprietors I had read about, but I guess those are long gone. There's nobody on site to help with anything. Check in was confusing, as we didn't receive an email with our code. We arrived at 5 pm, but still had trouble getting somebody on the phone to assist us. There are no amenities, including ice. They point out the dumpster on property, so I guess there's that. For the price, this should be a nicer motel. I'll stay elsewhere in the future.

Its sleek lines and modern structure stand out among the modest buildings that surround it. Every inch of its interior and exterior are detailed in lavish sophistication. Snacks, drinks and card games are within easy reach, tempting you from their station on the oversized desk (for a charge, of course). We skipped slipping into our robes and ordering room service and went down to the hotel bar instead. The bar offers a number of handcrafted cocktails, I was so conflicted about which to order that I told the bartender I would just go down the list- and she happily obliged. Dinner hadn't quite started yet so we ordered food from a limited lunch menu and made friends with the bar patrons. After all, it's still a small town and everyone around is incredibly friendly. Unfortunately, due to my overly enthusiastic cocktail buffet, I didn't make it to dinner. Luckily, I had a gorgeous room to stumble back to, and when I woke up, the minibar snacks and drinks truly saved my night. I absolutely think you get great value for the price of a stay here. Patty know so much about this town and is proud of it as she should be. I love this town!
