Theres the main house, where I assume the bridal party is able to get ready, and then there is the barn where the reception took place. The ceremony itself was held outdoors, which was nice and had a good view, however there didn't seem to be a contingency plan if it rained. Additionally, and this may be a per wedding thing, it was impossible to hear what was happening. Would highly recommend a mic, at least for the officiant. The property is kept up well and it looked like there were plenty of nice places for the wedding party to take their photos. The barn where the reception was held was very nice and clean. My only complaint would be about the restroom situation. The bathrooms are built into the barn much like a horses stall would be? There were two toilets in the women's restroom -- both of which had curtains as the doors. Mainly problematic because they were semi see through, and it was impossible to knock / see if someone was already in there. I'd be perfect if they could put in a more solid door of sorts!

It's intimate and charming and was everything I was looking for! The staff is very friendly and I had a good experience with them up to the week of my wedding. The event coordinator, Ann, had solicited her services as a wedding planner when we booked the venue. She is pleasant and sweet, but unorganized and this became very apparent the week before our wedding. We arrived at the Birch House the day before to start decorations and my family was asked to set up tables and chairs and clean bird feces off of them. It seemed unorganized and unprofessional to ask for my family to be cleaning bird feces off of everything... especially since this can be a major source of spreading disease AND that is a venue responsibility. My father-in-law showed up the next morning a couple of hours before the wedding and the chairs were still dirty with bird feces in the ceremony area and wouldn't have been clean by the time guests arrived for the wedding if he hadn't spent an hour and a half cleaning them. Ann said she would also be there the entire time to help with transitioning guests, caterers and I shouldn't stress about anything, but I had to try to find them multiple times to help. Overall, it would have been a better experience if I had not paid for her to help plan it because I could have ensured things didn't fall apart the week before the wedding. She mixed up our tent rentals, booking reservations, there was no lighting in the tent whatsoever for my wedding ceremony (which caused nobody to get a good picture of us being married and this is something she should have addressed prior as something we needed and we would have been happy to pay the additional expense), and she should have had staff available to clean the tables and chairs. There was no flow between the ceremony, serving food, cake cutting, etc. When she solicited her services as a wedding planner (as a side job to being the event coordinator for Glen Helen), she assured us that she would take the stress off of us and make things go smoothly.... I felt like I had to do majority of the work I asked her to do and the things I let her book were all wrong. I would not recommend using her as a wedding planner if you book anything at Glen Helen. Aside from that, it's an absolutely stunning venue that provides an intimate setting to share your wonderful day with family and friends.

I ordered the chef salad. Unfortunately I was disappointed with the amount of protein they put on it. As you can see from the picture, there were tiny pieces of turkey and ham that was almost nonexistent. I am disappointed for sure. A $9.00 salad should be more than a bowl of salad greens and dressing. I won't write them off because the sandwiches are amazing, but I will NOT order another salad from them. It was not worth it money I paid.

She acted as our wedding planner the day of and made sure everything ran smoothly. The space itself is gorgeous! We had just over 100 guests and it was the perfect intimate setting that we were looking for. We used the mill for the ceremony and the reception was held right next door in the carriage house. They had a bar area that was easily accessible and a lovely courtyard area for our guests to hang out in during the cocktail hour. Since the mill is in a neighborhood, they had valet on staff and all of our guest commented on how smoothly it all went. Overall, I cannot say enough good things about the Shuey Mill and would recommend to any bride and groom who is looking for a picture perfect and stress free wedding venue!!

The Presidential Banquet Center is a welcoming venue for the Greater Dayton Metropolitan Area. The management is first rate. The service is similar to that provided in conference hotels in the nation's cities. Service is not always first rate, but these employees do their best. Menus and kitchen are first rate. In February, we attended the Lincoln Society of Dayton, the Sons of American Revolution, and the Sons of Union Veterans presidential birthday banquets. Different menus and different service offered excellent experiences. A primary factor is abundant on-site parking. We prefer the buffets; although, we also attended plated service. The plated service is slow. Given nearly 50 years with great experiences at this venue, we highly recommend.
