Opting for the loft suite next to the main Jailhouse, we got settled in after re-reading the easy-to-follow instructions from our hosts. The loft features high ceilings and my wife compared it to staying in a treehouse. The room was immaculate and had several amenities, like a coffee pot and a microwave, so one could enjoy breakfast in-house if that was in your plans. There's also an adorable breakfast nook under a window looking out over the trees. Yellow Springs, Ohio is certainly my kind of quirky and lived up to expectations. From Jailhouse, it's a short walk, say five minutes, down to the heart of the town, and the famed Little Miami trail. This is a perfect location for those hoping to enjoy what the town has to offer. Affordable, convenient, and excellent service from the proprietors. Highly recommended.

My husband and I wanted to spend a quiet evening in Yellow Springs…read more He heard about this place and read great reviews. Plus it is very historical. When we pulled up, we were amazed how beautiful this building is. The landscape was gorgeous(they have a garden area) and love the color of the building. The owner was great with communication, paid credit card over the phone and did not have to check in through a lobby/front desk, put in a code on the front door. That easy. We got the suite which was on the top floor. We walked in and loved it. It was newly renovated and really clean. Awesome decor. It did not feel like a hotel. There was a kitchen, (pots pans, utensils refrigerator, filtered water) and a keurig coffee maker (which is a bonus), widescreen tv (in living room and bedroom), dining area, extra toiletries if needed, extra towels, and building is solar energy My only con was the bed was not comfortable and the hot water did not stay long if you wanted to take a bath. I would highly recommend this place if you would like to stay in Yellow Springs. Only minutes away from downtown.

We have stayed at a good number of Springhill hotels and this one is one of the lowest rating I've…read moreever given to, here is why: Interior: standard Springhill decor, simple, and clean. Breakfast: they have all the standard items, and do get very crowded on certain days and time. Downstairs bar: rarely open, very inconvenient Front desk staff: friendly, professional and efficient Housekeeping: horrible, except the Sunday crew. We stayed here from Saturday- Tuesday July 5-9, on the 5th floor, the only day we received adequate housekeeping service was on Sunday, all the other days we came back to the hotel room, after 5pm, either the room was not cleaned OR the floor was not vacuumed , beds were covered up without underneath sheets were straighten or clean at all. See pictures, that's the bed after it was supposed to be made. I believe the hotel management do have all the necessary information to figure out who needs to be retrained on their job duties. Room: spacious, but...the air conditioning was super loud, even after we lowered it to the lowest level, it is still loud. Had to turn it off at times to get some rest . Body wash run out after 1 day staying, and I guess the hotel probably run out of the wall mount bottles so they gave us 2 small travel size bottles . No body lotion, had to ask for it. Amenities: there is a gym and pool on the first floor, small but good enough Location: convenient, next to shopping centers, restaurants and movie theater. Parking was easy. Next time when I am in the area, not sure if I will stay here, to risk for another unpleasant stay. Do recommend management emphasize on housekeeping qualities, since it is a crucial element when running a hotel.

The chair in the room kind of sucked but bedding and conditions were pretty good. The carpet didn't have a creepy crusty feel like many hotels. The shower head was too high (I'm under 5ft...) I couldn't adjust it which was inconvenient. Thermostat was pretty responsive and accurate.

Was ok with some issues and will be better once renovated…read more From the moment we walked in , we had issues. Check In was not ready until after 330 pm. We waited an hour along with other people from our group! Our room was late getting ready. We had a very old room on ground floor . Refrig was broke, had to get new one. Never did we see a room attendant for 3 days! Even after we asked for room to be cleaned. They said put out your door tag but we did not have one. Had to go get our own towels abd toilet paper ! Lots of banging from construction early in am ! Indoor pool was ok Didnt eat at breakfast buffet. Many other options in walking distance. Texas Roadhouse is good for dinner but gets busy! Bob Evans or First Watch for breakfast. Ask for a renovated room.

We spent two nights at the Holiday Inn Dayton and had an okay experience…read more The room was large enough and we had a king-size bed, however, immediately upon entering the room, we were assaulted by the nauseating smell of an overpoweringly strong "deodorizer" spray that had been left behind by housekeeping. It was sitting on the desk in front of the air conditioning which meant that the smell was everywhere. I moved it to underneath a table by the upholstered chair which helped a little. The biggest dislike was the extremely low pressure in the shower. Jenni was in the bathroom taking a shower but I couldn't hear any water running and asked her about it and she said the pressure was pretty low. I asked if the water was even running and she said a little bit. When I went to take a shower, I couldn't believe how little pressure there was. There was plenty of water at the sink but almost none in the shower. Moreover, the hotter the water, the less pressure there was. When I came out, I had my towel in my hand and she said there was only one hook so she left hers on the door knob of the adjoining room. I went back into the bathroom and looked around and, sho'nuff, the only hook was the rounded one on the back of the door that seems in constant danger of losing any towel draped upon it. No towel racks, either. How weird. Breakfast was $15 but we were given vouchers when we checked in. I thought that was nice to be given vouchers but it seemed like all the guests got vouchers. Getting breakfast was interesting as you sit down and dining room attendants ask for your voucher in exchange for silverware. They may or may not offer orange juice; other tables had orange juice but we were never offered any. We didn't understand how breakfast was supposed to work because the attendants didn't seem to be servers -- except for orange juice and silverware -- and it was awkward when they asked, stridently, for vouchers. Breakfast was self-serve and quite good, though we missed it our second morning since it ended at 9am. The front desk clerk was very welcoming and friendly when we checked in and our room was very quiet. But the extremely low water pressure was annoying. Also, the room felt stuffy and seemed to get warmer and stuffier the longer the air conditioning ran so we kept turning it down lower and lower. We mentioned the water pressure to the front desk our first morning but were told that's a frequent complaint. Perhaps then it should be addressed. Overall, we had an okay stay but I would not return based on our experience.

It is a very small lobby with a giant staircase taking up most of the area. The front desk staff is very friendly and helpful. We got our room and headed up. The room was clean and had all the basic necessities for our stay. Large tv, microwave, coffee maker, and mini fridge. The beds weren't bad, they just weren't like home. The pillows were decent but I had to use at least two to make myself comfortable. This is a problem if there are two of you in bed as they only give you three pillows. The first problem was with the electrical system. The sockets near the bed were either not working or did not hold a plug in. This makes it difficult to charge any devices like your phone. We improvised and pressed on. I noticed nothing else with the room that I would have issues with. I would caution management to start re-caulking their bathroom showers to prevent water seeping through areas and causing mold. I was looking forward to breakfast. Waffles, eggs, sausage, cereal, pastries, biscuits and gravy, they had it all. Sadly the pastries were all dried out. I have never had a drier muffin in my life. The eggs were weird and the sausage was dried out. Make your own waffle for the win! This will be the freshest thing you will have here. There is a Waffle House across the street if that helps. Overall, it was an okay stay. They could definitely improve breakfast and I think their online ratings will skyrocket.

I was grateful that the hotel has quiet hours posted on the wall when the elevator doors open. Thankfully it was adhered to cos in a previous hotel I was at, the kids were allowed to run up and down the halls and carry on loudly without any adult supervision. My room was spacious, clean, but the HVAC was loud and had to be turned up quite high to get the room warm. Then it would become too hot and just turning it down one degree quickly cooled it off too much. It was a neverending dance. I didn't have time for breakfast cos had to get on the road early, but it was crowded and loud with all the kids and their parents. BTW, there's a wonderful Polish/Lithuanian restaurant called Amber Rose about 12 mins from the hotel that's excellent. Seriously delicious food. Definitely worth checking out! Surprisingly, it is a lot like Hilton Garden Inn (which I like), just rebranded. The room was simple, spartan, with wood (tile) floors, no carpet. I was expecting to hear lots of things dropped on the floor or running up and down the halls. (I did not). Comfy bed, big TV, shower with glass door. Not a fan of the toiletries mounted in the shower (big plastic bottles are difficult to dispense). Pool, workout room, foosball table in lobby, breakfast included, parking lot. Lots of guests and I see why.
