I decided to switch to Three Rivers after a rather horrible experience at another local Optometrist. I'm very happy I did! The previous place had my prescription wrong. Not only did Three Rivers give me the correct prescription but I found the staff to be professional and friendly. I have VSP coverage and had no problem getting the frames and features I wanted. Three Rivers has less quantity of frames than the previous place but their quality is better. I found more frames that I liked here and the woman helping me was patient as I found myself being indecisive on which one to choose. They also send me reminders for when I'm due for another appointment under my insurance which I appreciate. I have absolutely no complaints about Three Rivers and recommend them to friends and family. read more

I RARELY give doctor reviews. In fact.... I've never given a doctor review. LOL I consider myself a Kaiser Permanente refugee. (They are not the medical provider they were back when I joined.) So I was just expecting a run of the mill appointment with the same results with this new (to me) provider. However, my experience and outcome were anything but that! I did not expect to be told that my eye prescriptions from Kaiser were so far off the mark that it was no wonder I was 1/2 nauseated all the time from my brain trying to sort/interpret everything I see all everyday. I did not expect to walk out seeing better than I had in years!! YEARS people!! (WTHeck Kaiser!!) I have my vision back. I feel my physical and mental confidence seeping back and this with only the test contacts. Can't wait to get the ones they ordered for me. Dr Laulainen was very informative and helpful. He understands the eye/brain connection and how the brain interprets the world and funneled that knowledge into a prescription that helps with information processing in the brain. WOW!! Like just WOW! If you can get out of the Kaiser system - I would highly recommend Dr Laulainen and his staff. read more

My daughter had been a patient at Three Rivers Eye Care for several years. Every year we paid out of pocket for an exam, then we were given the prescription and I'd get glasses where we could afford. They did not accept our insurance which is why we did things this way. We CHOSE to have her eyes taken care of at Three Rivers. Last fall we did this routine, however, I was mistakenly given her old rx rather than her new 2024 one. I bought glasses not knowing it was wrong. When the glasses came, of course, she couldn't see well. I went to the Three Rivers Office snd showed them the prescription I had. They confirmed it was her old one and that they were sorry for the mistake. They then refused to compensate me in ANY way for the glasses I bought with the wrong prescription. I had them please check with the doctor, he too refused and I was literally told it was not their fault! I've been stewing about this ever since. I keep hearing their commercials and seeing them voted best in SW WA. In my opinion they are shockingly arrogant and we will never go back. read more

My father had cataract surgery and needed a new pair of glasses.He was referred to Three Rivers by the surgeon. After figuring out a new prescription and placing the order he was told they do NOT bill Medicare. They charged my 88 year old father 736.00 for a pair of glasses. He could have got them for 100.00 at Walmart. When asked to cancel, they were told absolutely not. Really, let's screw over some older folks. You guys will not last with this kind of service. read more

Wow, I am so disappointed. I have been going to Eye Care For you for a few years now. However I lost my glasses and three rivers was the quickest appointment I could get. Everything was great, the staff at the front desk, the lady who gave me a bit of an exam and the dr. Than my experience deteriorated from there. The lady who is helping with the glasses was cold for lack of better words. With my insurance there are a few brands that offer a better discount. They only carry one brand. I wanted progressive lenses, however there lab doesn't offer the one my insurance would cover. When I said I can't afford this , she coldly stated , well we can just give you your prescription and you can go elsewhere. What they were quoting me was about $480 for 1 pair of glasses and that's with my insurance. I took the prescription over to Eye care for you, they were wonderful and I got everything I needed for around $130. If you have VSP for insurance I would recommend going to Eye care you instead of wasting your time here. So disappointed. read more

After a poor experience with another Eye care in town (they gave me the wrong RX and wouldn't fix it) I was extremely pleased with everything about Three Rivers Eye Care. Everyone there was very caring and Dr. Laulainen, O.D. was great about explaining everything to me. I highly recommend them. read more

It would be A 0 but one person out of the two associates and one supervisor only one of them helped my daughter that one was the actual person that was suppose to be working with her. The others the Supervisor on duty and the other associate kept intervening when not appropriate as in the supervisor's own words we were being light hearted explaining what my daughter was doing wrong. So the additional two made my daughter feel ganged up on and who wouldn't being talked at. I would suggest going elsewhere unless you like being bullied. read more

The customer service that I received from Rhonda at Three Rivers Eye Care was atrocious. This lady has no business being anywhere near customers. She is degrading, rude and thinks she is above you. Despite multiple attempts to speak to her boss she would never allow me to voice my complaints because if you ask her, there is nobody above her. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I tried for 2 weeks to get the product that I paid for but they were unwilling to fix their mistakes and instead put the responsibility on me to pay out of pocket to correct it. I eventually filed a dispute with my insurance and got my benefits re-instated so that I could go elsewhere. I never wanted a refund, only to receive the product that I had paid for but was told several times that they don't issue refunds. I was left with no choice but to file a dispute. My next steps will be to report them to the Better Business Bureau. I would strongly advise anyone to stay away from this place. read more

Friendly service and great care. I was skeptical from other reviewers. I felt like I was receiving high quality care and attention. The selection for men was limited, but I found a really nice pair of glasses regardless. I have decent insurance so prices didn't play into this for me. I would give zero stars if I could- however the doctor was nice. I went there last year- ordered glasses that would be , I was told- next week. I HAD to call them 2 weeks later- and find out where my glasses were. I was told - the clinic/office that makes the glasses were behind. Nice customer service/follow- up. Should of been my red flag. However- came back this year. Now having problems with them about insurance. My husband went in for eye exam- then was told nope- you have no coverage. On the phone with Rhonda while my husband was there. I'm hard of hearing but my daughter was there listening. I was trying to talk with Rhonda- who said, 'no, this is how it's going to be' my daughter heard her and told me to hang up. She was like- when I heard that- there was no talking to her. My insurance company is supposed to call them today to straighten this out. Should be interesting. No follow up/ NO Customer service. I agree with someone else's review- this must be family owned and operated. Otherwise the bad behavior wouldn't continue. If you like stress, being treated poorly, and horrible customer service- this is the place to come!!! read more

While the doctor was nice and quick, everyone else is rude and snobby. Paid in full for an exam but could not afford the glasses they had in-house. I decided to order glasses online for about 10%of the cost. My glasses came and it seemed like I was in a fish bowl. Called three rivers to ask if they've ever heard of anything like that. 1. Called 6:30pm on a Thursday, when they are open until 7, no answer.2.when I finally got an answer the next day the woman who answered the phone acted like I was lying and had no idea what I was talking about. Then said that it may have been because I didn't get my PD measurement done because I didn't buy the glasses they sell. I have to go back tomorrow and then start the multi week process to return and reorder my glasses. THANKS GUYS!!! As a medical office you should be more committed to helping people improve their quality of life. Go somewhere else, anywhere else. read more

I had gone to another Eye Care Office for years before finally finding Three Rivers Eye Care. The other place rushed my exams and blew things out of proportion saying I'd never see well with contacts again, I was having left eye double vision and would need a prism in my lenses and sent me on my way. Three rivers doc explained to me what was actually happening (my left eye simply needed a bit stronger of a prescription). He informed me that contacts wouldn't be a problem for me like cascade eye care had suggested. The staff was incredibly helpful in ALL aspects of my appointment from checkin to exam and choosing frames. there were lots of choices and I was able to choose quickly. I spent over a thousand dollars on sunglasses & regular glasses & the prescription is not working for me , I had them redo exams & prescription & still will not work , I have talked to them & gone in & they refused to help. I've asked for them to take lenses out & give my money back & they refuse. I told them this is not right them refusing to help so I have no choices other than taking them to small claims. I do not think it's right for them to keep my money & not give me glasses I can wear. read more

The front desk girls were funny and friendly making the whole new patient paperwork process painless. The doctors assistant was lovely and even had nice conversation with her. Won't be going back. They won't give you your PD number unless you buy glasses from them. In the past the PD number has ALWAYS been part of the prescription when I have used other eye clinics. Very disappointed. read more

I give 0 stars. Middle aged woman who is supposed to help you with glasses is extremely rude and unhelpful. Had to come back in with my husband because she wouldn't show him men's frames when he couldn't tell the difference. They won't tell you what glasses cost or what your insurance will pay until you pick out the pairs you like. All glasses are separated by designer so you don't know which are for men or women. My husband felt embarrassed he couldn't tell tell em apart so he left the first time. Unfortunately that doesn't work for us. We like to know prices so we can stay within our budget. We also like to work with people who treat us with dignity. We are retired and on a fixed income. The irony is that I had 3 choices of providers that work with my insurance. I chose you because I live in Kelso and you are a Kelso business and wanted to keep my business local. Guess what? We left your office, took our prescription to Walmart who has prices listed, men's and women's glasses separated and a really nice employee who checked and confirmed that they take our insurance too. Also, is that lady the doctor's wife, because if I had a business with an employee that rude, I'd fire her. I figured she has to be related.... read more

I HIGHLY recommend going somewhere else. I came in here, there was a misunderstanding at first and everything was explained and thought was fine. I had to go back in and get different contacts to try, liked them and ordered them. Took them two weeks to come in. I had to call, the lady was like "she called you" I was like I got nothing" she was super rude about it. So I go in to get them and they ordered the WRONG prescription. The lady is like "that's what the doctor finalized you in" I'm like well that's NOT what the prescription even is on the trial boxes! The lady was like "okay if you say so" she said she would have to talk to the doctor. They ended up ordering the right prescription, again rude the ENTIRE time. TWO weeks later, I had to call and ask if my order was in, went to pick it up, they got the right prescription but on my prescription papers they literally had THREE prescriptions on there and they were not the prescription I was even prescribed. WORST PLACE EVER, THEY ARE RUDE AND SNOBBISH. I have since heard horror stories about this place. Avoid it and please go somewhere else! read more

I have had contact/glasses for twenty five years, so yes I have seen a lot of eye doctors. N I'm legally blind without contacts. This place is always very friendly n care a lot about your eyes. They might be expensive, but if you can't afford contacts then go to 1800contacts. They will give you your prescription. read more

One of the top three expensive places in the area I was told. If you don't have insurance they offer no discounts at all, even if paying cash. (Less paperwork for them). A limited selection of frames, and not one Titanium. When getting eyes dilated they offer no disposable black plastic eye wear, so make sure you bring sunglasses with you. I was surprised I made it home OK. The employees could be more informed. My eye exam was incredibly short/quick.. I wasn't going to receive a case for my glasses; I had to ask for one. They offer no warranties, what-so-ever. The receipt states, "All sales are final", and is highlighted! It doesn't matter what kind of problem you have with your glasses, you are SOL. I was going in twice a week for adjustments to no avail. I really wish I had known about this place beforehand. Because of my experience with this business, within three months I had LASIK surgery. I think they are crooks! I went to see the doctor in March of 2015 and received an exam and a prescription for new contact lenses. I chose not fill the prescription at that time. More that a year later I went to purchase contacts and was informed by the receptionist at Three Rivers Eye Care that I had used my hardware benefit in March of 2015. I explained that I hadn't purchased any hardware in over two years, and she told me to contact my insurance company. I stepped out of the office and called my insurance company and they informed me they had paid Three Rivers Eye Care my full hardware benefits in March of 2015. I stepped back into Three Rivers Eye Care and told them what my insurance company had told me and even offered them the opportunity to speak to the customer service representative from my insurance company, but they declined. I asked to see an invoice of the hardware I had purchased and the receptionist called another employee to help her as she sifted through my computer file. After typing on a keyboard and looking at a computer screen that I was not allowed access too, they suddenly announced that I had a credit of $130.00. I asked how this could have happened and they went on to explain that when I came in for my exam in March 2015 they did me a favor by billing my insurance company my maximum benefit for my exam and hardware. I had no idea they had billed my insurance company for hardware I never purchased or that I had a credit. Three Rivers Eye Care never sent me a statement regarding my credit.... They billed my insurance company for hardware I never purchased and kept the money for over a year. I asked what they would have done with the money if I had not returned to their facility. They informed me that credits are sent back to the customer if they are not used within a year. However, it had been over a year and I was never issued a credit or even a credit statement. I then questioned them about this and they never gave me a straight answer. Does this sound legal? or ethical? On a positive note, Doctor Laulainen is very personable and I was pleased with the care he provided, but I do not think the establishment is trustworthy. read more
