I tend to be someone who typically goes to the doctors office when plagued by an issue, although now I find myself checking out alternative therapies more like acupuncture, chiropractic, meditation, etc. I also was a bit fearful of needles when I initially came here after a traumatic experience before a surgery, but I'm thrilled that my fear has really dissipated thanks to acupuncture! I now relax and lay back when the needles are being put in and I'm really amazed because recently I had to get a lot of blood drawn and I just relaxed, held my arm out and went to my Zen like place, which is really great! Before acupuncture, I would have been much more anxious and on edge. I not only have arthritis in my knee, which is my primary reason for coming to acupuncture but I also have chronic pain- a condition which affects the body with widespread pain and tenderness called fibromyalgia, which is a misunderstood and baffling illness. So, I'm coming to Healing Arts for both! I would much rather have a Zen like afternoon catnap where I can relax that take lots of medications. I may not be able to completely avoid the latter but whatever I can do holistically and naturally will definitely be my preference. While I may not ever be cured of these conditions completely, knowing that acupuncture can really help me manage my symptoms is invaluable! It's a great way of coping, a huge tool in my toolbox of coping strategies and I would personally much rather have acupuncture any day than get injections and have to take lots of pills. I tend to come about once a month and the first couple of times I noticed some soreness but I have found much better results as I keep going. Occasionally a little bruise or soreness may occur but the pain relief, motion and relief from stiffness in joints is really amazing and awesome! My knee feels much better after going this 3rd time, much more movement when it was pretty stiff. They also have a Yelp deal, check in offers and all in all is a relaxing experience- chill out on a massage bed with pillows, calming music, refreshing scents, dim lighting and yes, some privacy too from the Shoji screens. I have had 3 practitioners- Margaret, Holly and Steve, I thought they were all good, I prefer Steve but they were all good. I'll be back!

I accidentally came in a week early for appointment after writing it down wrong (oops!) but the staff at HACA were so kind and accommodating despite it being completely my mistake, and were able to fit me in for a great session. The place was really well set-up with rugs, heaters, and screens to separate patient treatment areas that are all within the same large room. Holly Prescott was the practitioner that day and she did a great job asking what I was there for and then placing needles so gently I hardly felt them. It's rare that I slip into the deep, almost sleep-like relaxation I felt during this treatment, but I was so completely relaxed that it came easily. Thanks for the great session Holly!

I am in my 4th year of dental school, and the stress and physical demand of the work has taken a massive toll on my body. Finally, someone suggested that I would benefit from acupuncture, so I found myself searching high and low for a reputable provider that could see me ASAP. I read tons of reviews and then reached out to multiple different acupuncture providers, yet Chris was the only one to return my call himself, not to mention it was within the hour. He provided a warm, personal and informative introduction to the practice of acupuncture. Chris's vast knowledge, experience and easy going personality was what convinced me to choose Rittenhouse acupuncture for my first experience with the craft. I was scheduled for the very next day. To say my life is forever changed feels like an understatement - but it's the truth. I have since completed 5 sessions with Chris, and each time experienced improvement with muscles that have been bothering me for years. Additionally, my Oura ring health tracker has shown significant improvements on my heart rate variability, a vital metric that is measured over a 2 week period of time and compared to your 3 month average and is used to determine how well your heart can adapt to strain/balance. The higher the number the better, and I have had HRV measurements higher than ever before. Lastly, I don't think I could say how amazing my body's response to acupuncture has been and not attribute significant credit to Chris himself. Not only does he conduct strictly one on one sessions with every client, but he takes the TIME to listen to absolutely EVERYTHING you have to say on your life, health, things affecting you, truly no detail is too small and he cares and considers it all. His laid back demeanor is instantly calming, and he is flexible and understanding making the experience stress reducing in every way possible. HE is worth the investment. Rittenhouse acupuncture is the only right choice!

The acupuncturist, Christopher, is not only incredibly knowledgeable but also takes the time to really listen and understand your concerns. He explained everything clearly, answered all my questions, and created a treatment plan tailored specifically to my needs. I've been dealing with headaches, digestive issues and an unregulated nervous system and after just a few sessions, I've noticed a significant improvement. Not only has the pain decreased, but I feel more balanced and energized overall.

Cue Pain Away. This place was a wild 30 minute ride. I went in for neck pain after a colleague at the gym recommended it. I walked in and the only words exchanged were "how long?" "30 minutes" I reply. A woman spawned from nowhere and guided me to a room where she signaled to get undressed. I did so, laid down, and the massage begun. This woman came back in and I was tense for the next 30 minutes. She put her whole backbone into this massage. I was in a constant state of pain, letting out squeals here and there. Nevertheless, she persisted. At the end of the 30 minutes, she stopped as abruptly as she started. Sweet relief. I walked out to pay and she handed me water. It was nice. I waited until the next day to write this review because my neck truly does feel a LOT better. So, Pain Away did its job, and I would certainly come back!

When I first moved to Philadelphia, I was immediately on the hunt for a good acupuncturist. Upon a…read morerecommendation from a friend, I tried Six Fishes on Gray's Ferry Avenue. I have several issues with my back and I've always found acupuncture to help ease the chronic aches and pains that come with my problem. I've been coming here for almost a year now and I can't believe I have not reviewed them until this point. I am a weekly patient of Paul, who I liked and trusted from the very first day I entered the center. Back on that first visit, Paul took the time to sit with me beforehand so he can learn a little bit about myself, my wellness routines, and my back issues. He took great time and care during our consultation and the acupuncture session, and I felt valued as a client/patient. In the nine or so months that I've been going to Six Fishes, I've come to look forward to Friday mornings, where the genuine care and warm atmosphere make me feel at home, not to mention the relief I get. Throughout this time, Paul has never wavered in the quality and attention of the care he gives to me and I could not be more appreciative. I'd also like to give kudos to the administrative staff, Lorraine, and Amanda, who are always super friendly and equally caring as the rest of the staff. If you find acupuncture a helpful treatment for whatever ails you, I highly recommend Six Fishes!

Six Fishes was my first experience with acupuncture and cupping and I am so excited to return! The…read morestaff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable and the space is very clean. I recently injured my shoulder and it has been painful. I tried to get in with a Physical Therapist but the wait combined with the need for me to get a prescription from my PCP or another doctor led me to consider other options. I remembered a yoga instructor of mine suggested I try acupuncture for lower back pain that I have had for a few years, resulting from a mild sprain. I decided to look into Six Fishes, went to their website and booked a phone call for the same day to discuss what I was going through and to determine if acupuncture could help me. After learning that it could, I made an appointment for a virtual intake appointment and an in person appointment the next day. This process had already proven easier than trying to get in with the PTs in my area. I filled out an online intake form, and submit my insurance information all through their website. The process was very easy and took 10-15 minutes overall. When I had my virtual intake appointment, I discussed my pain a bit more in depth and my practitioner Julie asked a few additional questions. Julie also answered my questions and ensured that I was feeling comfortable going into the appointment. When I arrived for my appointment the next day, I felt prepared and excited! The staff was very helpful and explained that because my insurance did not cover acupuncture, I'd be placed in a "semi-private" space because it was less expensive. That was fine with me! The space was very comfortable and had curtain dividers between the other semi-private spaces. I do not believe anyone else was there at the same time, but if they were, I could not hear them! Julie walked me through the process and then began inserting the needles. I am not a huge fan of needles (is anyone?) but did not mind the insertion process at all. I noticed some soreness and a feeling of more pressure surrounding the needles that were placed on my shoulder and neck area. Julie explained that this was normal and related to my reason for coming in - the preexisting pain from my injury. Julie placed a heating lamp over my lower back, which was lovely, and handed me a small remote that had a bell. I laid face down for 40 minutes total, and was instructed to use the remote to ring for Julie if I needed anything at all. The first 20 minutes I was a bit more anxious, wondering when I'd be halfway through. After Julie came to check-in at the halfway mark, I felt extremely relaxed and almost sleepy! The last 20 minutes flew by. After the acupuncture, Julie suggested I try cupping, so I did! The cups were tight on my back, but very tolerable. Julie also put a menthol cbd oil on my back before the cups and the tingling from this was really soothing. Julie explained that I'd feel tingling and that after the cupping, I'd have some marks on my back for about a week. I really appreciated being fully informed about everything before agreeing to go forward with the procedures. The combined total of my two appointments was very affordable, and my next visit will cost even less. I am very excited to return and feel the long term benefits of these practices!
