It specialises in selling second-hand technology such as consoles, games and even phones, where it buys from the public and then sells on. From the outside the store looks nicer and modern modern than other CeX stores, ditching the standard red sign and simply writing Entertainment Exchange with the CeX logo on the side, makes it has a nicer, more modern and higher class feel which is a smart idea I hope to see at more stores as that is simply what CeX stand for, to the point where it is one of my favourite parts of the store where it ditches its usual branding which I find hideous to something cooler. Going into the store the modern vibe seems to disappear, it is located up a large step and there are no lifts once you get into the store, so that's worth noting if you have trouble with them. The range of products available was decent, yet the store inside had more of a slightly cheap and more of a typical CeX vibe, not too modern, the overall cleanliness of the store also could have been improved drastically. Prices can be a little hit and miss, with some prices often costing the same to buy "new" elsewhere, CeX argue this is to give the person trading in or selling their used product back to them the best price, but in most prices one of the two prices isn't the best, so it is finding the balance to that. The store looks nice and inviting from the outside and it is in a good central Liverpool location, yet as you go into the store it doesn't scream a modern city centre location which I feel my closer branch Manchester Arndale in a way does, so I feel CeX on Lord Street only deserves a two-star rating due to the issues discussed.

All items you trade in are fully tested to meet specific criteria, so there are no shortcomings when buyers decide to purchase pre-owned items. If an item you buy is faulty, there is a refund policy as long as you return the item with the receipt. I have been a registered member with the store for about 3 years and ever since, I have traded in many items (mostly dated mobile phones) as I often like to keep up with the trend when it comes to anything technology related! Once trading in, there is the option of 'exchange' or 'cash' but whichever you choose, there is not much difference in terms of value. It all depends on your preference. It's an ideal store for those who are into gaming, mobile phones, computers and mp3's however it if you decide to buy any of their goods, items will usually be more expensive than the RRP which in a way does not make sense because products are pre-owned; this is actually their way of making profits so be warned. Personally I would suggest this store if you wish to trade in for cash or want to buy second-hand games (these are always cheaper) but everything else is has a bigger price tag.

Went down today, they cleaned the port and checked to see if it was charging again properly before taking further action. Turns out it was and a good proper clean was all it needed instead of repairing. No charge!!. Couldn't of asked for anything better :) (Very good health and safety guidelines too within the shop)

The Clinic can unlock and unblock your phones, replace lost chargers, update the software and generally restyle your phone. Or that phone you found in that club last night and didn't want to hand in cos it's better than yours....sorry, paranoia coming in again. Although I take the mickey, these places are godsends if your beloved phone IS poorly, and they can generally diagnose and cure on the spot or within the day. I refuse to leave my phone overnight though because, well, I'm not stupid....

The say they offer an unlocking service on all phones but I have yet to put that claim to the test with my old LG phone from three. My advice is to get a cheaper SIM only plan and buy your own mobile direct from somewhere like expansys.com If you have an old phone to sell speak to Mr Khalid who seems to be the most knowledgeable . Of course, never having had a contract and enduring years of (parental) discouragement from entering into one I was rather hesitant and very cautious. I spent hours searching the Internet for a model, a network, a contract and was overwhelmed. I headed into town and visited literally every phone-selling shop there is! I visited Virgin three times in one day, each time returning a little more knowledgeable of the offers out there (including a free LCD TV with Car phone!) However, I was so impressed by the salesmen, (all three were welcoming, helpful, and, while professional and knowledgeable, relaxed and not persistent like some sales people I encountered) the package offered and the great phone offered (the only one I had truly wanted during my search) that I signed up. Again, the staff were fantastic during the rigmarole of signing up, explaining what was required beforehand and throughout the procedure. While insurance was offered nothing was forced upon me and I was assured there were no hidden charges. There are surprisingly few phones on show in the store and there are no extras available, such as cases and covers, while, to browsers, this may seem poor and off putting, I found it enabled me to really assess each phone's aesthetic and consider the purchase well; jam packed stores can seem really quite daunting.

Took laptop in to get fitted with a new harddrive and a copy of windows 10, the little bellend…read morethought he could just put the hard drive in without screwing it down, i opened it myself and told him everyone knows who fixes laptops that a hard drive goes into a metal rail, after giving him this back i was told they ordered the metal rail and fitted everything and it would run smoothy, within 3 hours of use laptop went dodgy again, so i opened it and they had the hard drive held in place with tissue paper. not only is this unprofessional and a total lack of disregard for a persons item but it is a fire hazard and totally idiotic. I had to restrain myself from going and bouncing the hard drive of the dudes head after he gave cheek down the phone and refused a refund..

I was not let down by what I found inside the store as there was actually some very good deals to be found. There were cut price lap tops and phones and in general they seemed to be of a good quality and I actually had confidence that a purchase here would be one that I would not come to regret. The staff weren't great but that did not deter my questions or perusing of the produce and I was pleased by what I found. On the whole this place proved to be a real dark horse which threw up some pleasant and interesting surprises.

But, as with all these random little pc repair shops, they also offer random services, one of which is a cash for gold scheme whereby they will buy old and new jewellery by offering prices by the gram of gold. They also buy all second hand mobile phones. The service is friendly, although we went in to price up a dongle so that we could access the internet in our flat and the guy behind the counter seemed very irate and unapproachable, needless to say, we bought one elsewhere!

On the whole despite being boring this place was actually a good find as they provide a high quality of service at more than reasonable prices. The staff here were knowledgeable as well as being friendly and this really left me feeling as though I was a valued customer and that they genuinely cared about my consumer needs. The store is small but well organised and you can tell as soon as you enter that this place is going to be well run and such is the case.
