In summer, it is particularly popular with canal boaters and can sometimes be so busy that it is not possible to get into the car park, even though this is very large. There is a children's playground, a beer garden and the pub has been extended by a large conservatory to accommodate more diners in the restaurant. Even so, be prepared for a long wait on busy sunny days when it will be heaving - but it is worth it.

There are good walks in the vicinity, so it is convenient for ramblers too. If you want a pleasant location for a good value meal, the Abbey is a place well worth trying.
