The vegetable dishes are varied and generally garden fresh. The experience visiting directly was slightly different. This was a Saturday brunch wherein service was kind and courteous, but quite delayed. This is OK if you're having a leisurely meal, but might bring you a bit of anxiety. If you are trying to keep to any kind of schedule. The food itself is quite lovely, although my vegetables looked fresh and green, they did appear as though they had sat in the finishing lamp a little too long. The Seabass came out a little odd, because we can't specified to avoid garlic, and that was interpreted to leave out the prawns entirely. The hostess corrected that quickly, but it is a bit disruptive to the overall meal flow. Location is beautifully quaint tucked away inside of a forest Glen and brings about a very peaceful experience. Decor reminds you of visiting a small cottage. If you don't mind the occasional flaws, which are immediately corrected dining here could be a wonderful experience at a very unique establishment.

Situated between Stockport and Cheadle, look out for the 'Hare' sign and nip down the road to find a lovely little country pub with plenty of outside seating. I think I'm right in that the MH is part of the Mitchells and Butlers 'Vintage Inn' brands and the food shows - it's all great effort on the menu but you know it's all paint by numbers behind the scenes and a bit chainy. I enjoyed their brie and bread starter (could have done with a bit more bread tbh) and their beer battered halloumi (bit too much batter, would be better like a tempura) and chips was nice if still fairly standard. There was a good range of beers on offer, some nice bottles and there seemed a great environment of banter and middle aged folks catching up. Staff were also very friendly. I'd happily pop down here again for lunch or a few drinks mainly due to it being so close to my house. Not a bad option if you live nearby but nothing WOW in terms of quality of the food.

As a party of 6 we firstly got seated on a bench table for 4.. more than a squeeze. We all all ordered at the bar and the food that came wasn't terrible quality just very small portions! I sent my calamari back as 5 squid ring for £4.85 seemed like a joke. The staff apologised and explained after reopening up they had teething problems in the kitchen... but then no check back after our main courses arrived. After another late finish at work, my colleague mentioned this place did good pizza,,, after what was supposed to be a 10 minute walk we arrived at a Wetherspoonesque pub. The furniture has the genric comfy couches and chairs you find at one of these pubs, which was filled with hungry loud families. They offer two for 1 on mains every Monday or £12.95 for two courses Monday to Thursday, I chose the squid for starters , and a salmon and prawn hanging kebab for mains. The staff were freindly and offered a good selction of beer however they were not attentive when it came to serving us food. Our starter plate was left waiting to be picked up for 30 minutes before it was discovered. To be fair it was busy, and my tolerance was not great because there was so many loud kids. The squid calamari was plentiful, but difficult to eat due to its rubbery nature. When the mains arrived i was more impressed. The vegtables looked fresh and vibrant with nicely seasoned home made looking fries. Pulling off the salmon and prawns from its skewer , I found this to be well cooked and tasty .. I did orginally think that I woud be able to snaffle this and have room for dessert, but I was deceived. Suprisingly filling. Overall a good solid pub, nothing to write home about, but can't fault it too much either. I would just be prepared that it can be busy , and if you do not have the tolerance for loud chavy families...try to time this one carfully.

A deceptively large space inside, with a few tables outside when the weather's good - there's not much of a view though, just the road you've walked up. The pub is owned by Marston's, so expect to see a couple of their ales on tap. Apart from that there's not much else available unless you're partial to a commercial lager or two. Of the three pubs in Buxton we visited that day, this was my least favourite, it just lacked the charm and traditional features of the others and looked far too 'chainy' for my taste.

They do offer a brunch menu, but we've never been early enough to order from it. Of the items I have ordered, my favourite was the sea bass with new potatoes. It had a bit more Hollandaise sauce than was needed, but I have enjoyed it the most. We did have dessert one of the times we went as they have some interesting items... for example the peach and raspberry trifle slice. Our group, which included a baby and a toddler, were well taken care of and we had a large table tucked away from the main dining area where we could spread out a bit. You can't travel light with young 'uns! Sunday roasts and British dishes head the menu, though the selection for all courses was pretty extensive - I opted for their oak-smoked chicken liver pâté followed by the Sunday roast platter (roast beef, roast turkey and loin of pork) and then sticky toffee and apple pudding (because dessert). Their bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and bottles which was good to see. As a designated driver though, I was on the blackcurrant and lemonade! Service was attentive throughout and we were never made to feel rushed at any point. A super venue for a lazy Sunday lunch - will definitely return.
