I used to eat at the red lion before they closed down. Well when they reopened and I discovered that they had the same chef I couldn't wait to go..... How disappointing We booked for 6 and arrived slightly earlier so we could have a drink. We walked in and it was in darkness, it was cold and damp. Although they had made an effort to redecorate it almost felt cosier before. So we put this down to the opening at 6! The food... We ordered our meals and I had nearly the same as I had had previous times, with a side of chips. The steak came but the side of chips did not, when i asked the waitress she was quick to go away to fetch the chips or so I thought, instead she chatted with a lady behind the bar. I had to ask her for the chips . And by the time the chips came the steak was cold and the chips warm. Cold plates did not help either.
To be honest I will not go back again. Some how I don't believe the same chef is employed there. I was disappointed. There are many pubs out there who do quality steaks (hot) and on hot plates. I would highly recommend the ryles arm in Sutton near Macclesfield. Sorry to sound off but trying to be honest and to warn people prepare to be disappointed. If you compare the ryles arms and the red lion, you will know what I mean read more
