For bar food, this place is good! This place may be a little tight but with two floors, great food, and decent prices, you can't go wrong. This was a pizza joint a while back so it was a nice change. FOOD: For dinner I had the Grouper Sandwich which is a very large piece of crispy breaded fried grouper on toasted bun with lettuce, tomato, and red onion. My sister and I frequent this location. Our cousin from TX was visiting for the weekend and we decided to bring her to our favorite cafe. Unfortunately, we experience what appeared to be discriminatory service. We placed our food and beverage order. However, the mixed drinks were not to our liking so we sent them back ordering beers instead. Our waitress was extremely apologetic and accommodating. However, the bar tender was combative stressing the fact that the mixed drinks were made based on the recipe and reiterating that she could not remove the charge of the tickets from our drinks. We never asked for this credit we simply wanted our beers. It seems the young lady was very fretful of the manager blaming her and charging her for our dissatisfaction with the mixed drinks. Despite the obvious engagement the manager was intentionally elusive. He catered to another table of 4 people. Turning off the music and turning all of the tvs in our area to the soccer game. We found it rude as we were enjoying the basketball came. Nevertheless, we dismissed his actions continuing to enjoy our chat. After waiting for some time for our order - two fired fish sandwiches and 6 wings. We noticed the table of 4 people who had come in 20 minutes after us were receiving their order - platter of wings, platter of fries, plater of tacos... at least 5 platters of food. It was at this point we realized the delay was intentional because we had sent the drinks back. When the manager Pedro Manzano finally decided to come to our table he stated the POS System was down. We were immediately offended. If the POS System was down how is it the party that sat after us received their food. If the POS System was down the staff would be unable to retrieve any orders. We paid for all drinks (the bad mixed drinks and the beers) and left. This was a disheartening experience. We patron the restaurant for the great food and ambience. However, this encounter deterred us from any future visits. read more

FYI, I would give this place 3.5 stars if I could. This Three Dollar Cafe Jr. (I am not sure why it's a Jr. and not a Sr., LOL) is located in the former Loop Pizza Grill building, which they have made some changes to. They wisely put a nice canopy over the top patio so you don't fry in the summertime. They also reconfigured the inside to include a bar. At the same time, the place still has a rather industrial feel with metal poles and sheet metal siding. It's not what you'd call warm in terms of decor but if you want wings and a beer, you probably don't care anyway. The one thing I immediately noticed when I walked in was the lingering aroma of cigarette smoke. I am guessing smoking is allowed in the bar and it is evident. It is not a pleasant aroma to me but I am guessing they do this to attract more bar patrons. It looked like I was the first customer to walk in Wednesday for lunch. The hostess told me to sit anywhere and there were about six servers standing in smiling readiness. It was slightly comical but they all seemed pleasant and ready to serve. Britanie (sp?) came over right away to give me some menus and took my drink order while I waited for my friend. I made the mistake of sitting in the main open area, which is incredibly loud due to the TVs. I noticed many people wisely chose to sit in the front enclosed area and plan to sit there next time. It was difficult at times to hear my friend. I ordered the grouper sandwich on another Yelper's suggestion and was not disappointed. It is HUGE! I ended up taking it off the bun (which was nothing to write home about) and eating it that way. It tasted very fresh and had a light breading that was quite yummy. I would get this again for sure. The fries, on the other hand, were ho hum and tasted like they were out of a bag. My friend ordered a beef quesadilla without jalapenos. When it arrived, the jalapenos were in it anyway but my friend ate it anyway. She said she liked it despite the error. I must give kudos to Britanie (sp?) for taking good care of us. She got us refills promptly but didn't hover, which is a balance some servers don't know how to accomplish. She was upbeat and helpful. I'd love to have her as a server again. I am hopeful that Three Dollar Cafe does well and stays because this area needs a good dining option. Beyond Moe's, Galaxy Diner and S&S Cafeteria, it's just fast food miasma. read more

The first time we came here the service was awful, but the wings were great. We decided to come try this place again.... but the service was awful again! Takes forever to get anyone attention, refills are rare to get, and we waited in the check for over 15 min. Great spot in an area that is under-served by the bar/restaurant industry. I've gone frequently over the last few months and have eaten from every part of the menu -- it's all BETTER than similar places. Example -- order the fish sandwich and instead of what-seems-like-mrs.-pauls, you get a HUGE fresh battered piece of fish that dwarfs the bun. Also don't skip the onion rings. GREAT selection of crafts on tap, too. You also have your choice of three atmospheres ... by the bar is basically a bar ... the back room on the first floor makes you forget it is a bar, which is nice, and their deck is a rooftop deck, which is pretty cool especially in the Embry/Northlake neck of the woods. read more

Overpriced, rude staff, bad service. Just went to this 'sports bar' for an early lunch and to watch a game of soccer. Being the only customer at 11:30 on a Sunday I thought this would be ok. However the manager refused to change one of the 20 TVs onto the game. I looked around to ask why, and he said it would get busy at 12. He then proceeded to change all 20+ TVs onto a still graphic of the game that they would be showing.... regardless of the fact that at 12 there were 6 people (including myself), 4 of whom were sat out on the patio not watching any of the screens. This manager is absolutely oblivious to customer service and I won't be visiting this, or any other branch of this chain again. read more

We waited over 20min to get our order taken and drinks, 40min passed and the table next to us that sat down 30min after us got their order. The girl came and said the receipt machine broke but she should just say she forgot our order because she came back and asked for our orders again. I went to the manager and explained the situation and he just told us to wait for the food. The restaurant was not even busy. We had 4 empty tables in our area and more than enough employees. I'm not sure why people are complaining. We eat at this establishment (chamblee tucker location) a couple times a month. Never have I ever had bad service or food. The food is excellent. Always. Never had anything come to our table that didn't look and taste amazing. the staff are super friendly and personable. If you have something wrong with your order let them know I'm sure they'd take care of it for you. As for service times if you go into a sports bar on a football game sunday expect the times to be a bit longer than a Wednesday morning. Sheesh people. Any burger is great there. So glad to have Three Dollar Cafe in our neighborhood (Embry Hills, Northlake-Tucker, Chamblee) Had lunch here a few weeks ago and it was great! My friend and I ordered salads - which is not the common order for a restaurant known for it's Wings. But these salads were huge! Lots of toppings, fresh ingredients and plenty of dressing on the side. I've had their wings at other locations and they were always good! Typically, I don't have much of an opinion on chains, but since I remember when there was only one of these, it gets a rating of 3 stars because it is good, but it is a chain. The chicken is great, it's a wing place, but the best thing about $3 is if you're winged out, their hamburgers are pretty dang good! Right size burger, cooked right, I got it exactly how ordered it and even though that is expected, its not always the case. It is a good quality fill you up burger that is satisfying every time! Seriously..I've become obsessed with their chicken club sandwich. It's soooo good! May be the best chicken sandwich I've had. I've also tried the buffalo chicken sandwich which is good too...and I like that you can get it dipped in any of their wing sauces. The only thing that I've had from here that I was a bit unimpressed by was the lemon pepper wings and it's only bc they didn't put much lemon pepper seasoning on it. Just left this cafe for the last time! Usually at least we can get someone to eventually give us a menu but tonight was the worst. We sat down and saw at least six people who came in after us get menus drinks and food! The beer is stale and when you watch them fill a pitcher they pour most of the foam down the drain! Racist manager. Came here for the opener falcons vs eagles game and sat right in front of the tv. At 9pm, The tv changes in the middle of the game to tennis and the manager comes up being rude saying the tv that everybody is watching upstairs is tied to a tv downstairs and some ladies have been watching tv since 4pm and they are "regulars" so they have to change it. Has to be the worst shrimp and grits in Atlanta. It was more like grit soup. The grits were cooked fine, but the sauce they put on their was excessive. The service wasn't great at all. I didn't try their wings so if I'm forced to go back, I will try them. Their wings are allegedly the best. I was really looking forward to this place because they also have fried cheesecake, and that was even a let down. I also had the chips and queso and a Caesar salad. I always finish my food but I definitely didn't finish anything I started at this spot. I'm telling people to avoid this place unless you're just drunk and want a place to watch the game. I thought he was a customer at first but he must have been the boss. I decided to fall through here on a Saturday night because my intoxicated friend and my hungry girlfriend wanted a bite to to eat that wasn't fast food. This was the only place that we could find in striking distance of our household that met that quota. As we seated ourselves I couldn't help but notice that there were television's everywhere with college basketball and tennis on. Being a huge sports fan, I appreciated that. I enjoy consuming my eats while taking in a game or two or three or four. I also was made aware that they had a smoking section. This was a huge plus in my opinion because I didn't have to take in those fumes while I wasn't actually partaking in the activity. When we sat down we waited for about ten minutes before we had to ASK for a menu. I guess they thought that we were just digging the scene and didn't want to partake in any food or drinks!!! After perusing the menu I decided to get "The Augusta". It's a burger that is made with pimento cheese, old bay seasoning, and fried pickles. All of the ingredients tasted perfect together and it was cooked to a perfect medium. I would definitely get that every time I come back, if I ever do. Also It came with some fries. I believe it was about seven if I counted correctly. They were lukewarm at best. I scarfed 'em down because I normally eat from worst to best. (Don't ask) read more

The best wing flavor is the mango habanero. Those are the only two dishes that I've tried so far but that's because they are really good. They have an inside & a nice roof top with TVs. I've been ordering from the Sandy Springs location for almost 4 years... The food is awesome..and great friendly service. However I ordered today some wings to go, on my way to work. I couldn't wait..so I opened my food and realized right away something was different just by looking at it. I tasted one of the wings, took me forever to finish chewing it...it appeared to me that they possibly had been pre- cooked. Like I said earlier, I've ordered the same thing forever so I knew they weren't freshly cooked..So I called them...and to my surprise,, they never offered to re-do the order or even ask me " how can we fix this" instead I had two people to basically argue that it was cooked to order. If I could give this place less than one star I would. We sat for 20 minutes before walking out due to a lack of service. We were greeted and given waters to start and then noticed our server watching the games near the bar and joking with other servers. HORRIBLE customer service. A friend and I read about this place on here, and decided to check it out. Our first waiter, Jeremy, was really rude, so we requested another waiter so that our experience wouldn't be ruined. That was a bad choice. The next waiter we received, Mena, was worse! She didn't check on us, and had an attitude when we asked her for things like ketchup and mustard! This is not even the worst, she took so long to get our check we had to walk down to pay her, we left no tip.. And told her to work on your attitude. She FOLLOWED us both out of the restaurant, and said "if you can't handle it, don't come here anymore." And that she "did us a favor" by coming to our table, and she could of left us sitting there. The buffalo bleu chicken sandwich was the best I have had since leaving North Carolina many years ago, it reminded of the one I use to get from East Coast Wings. The $3.00 drinks were just fine as well just was not sure about that $1.50 "on the rocks" (ice) charge, that was not mentioned and came as a surprise.
