I had a great experience. I have sent Custom 3 over the years the remains of two different tubes of lipstick, in the hopes they could recreate it. And even with my lipsticks being purchased in Europe where formulations are different due to no FDA regulations, Custom 3 rocked. I got the most amazing matches back. I ordered online, I sent in a sample of a limited edition lipstick, Mac-A Novel Romance. I was a little unsure of what to expect so my expectations weren't high. They blew me away, the lipsticks are identical in every way. And as for the price, most high end lipsticks would cost you more. I am so incredibly disappointed. I spent $111 on four tubes of lipstick and shipping to match a discontinued Chanel lipstick that I adored. I was so excited to find the site, but that excitement quickly diminished once I receive the product. While the color looks the same in the tubes, there is no comparison on my lips. The Chanel lipstick is much more opaque and rich. The custom lipstick is very translucent, provides no coverage, and looks more like a lipgloss. I have attached photos. My original Chanel is on the left of the picture (on the right half of my lips). Now, I'm out $111 for lipstick with barely any color. So upset. read more

The colors of the new products were not even close to the originals provided. This was a complete waste of money.

Fast service. They have a "library" of discontinued lipsticks from various company they can reproduce on a relatively short notice. I wanted a specific discontinued shade of red lipstick which was discontinued at the end of the 90's. I'm obviously not the one wearing this, but the lady is telling me it's the best damn lipstick she wore. She looks gorgeous in it, and as far as my memory goes, it's as intimidating as the original. (No, I'm not going to reveal what it is) It's apparently high quality, lasts long, doesn't stick too much to red wine glasses (don't know yet about my shirt collar or my own lips). Opacity is perfect. The tube itself is metal and stamped to the company. Bonus point for not writing what is inside, that way I can be the only one who knows what shade it is and she has to go through me to get a refill. And now. I want to try my hand at making my own shade of red... just for her. read more

Unfortunately, you have to give one star to write a review - I would liked to have given no stars. Granted, the color lipstick I requested them to duplicate was discontinued many years ago. It was YSL #45. They said they were familiar with it and we spent 30 minutes discussing the opalescence and texture (sheer) and color of the lipstick. It had peach, pink, silver and gold - and changed shades as it moved in the light. They assured me they could recreate the color. It arrived yesterday and it is not even close. Before they began I sent them a photo of mine and after I received their lipstick I sent them pictures of mine and their recreation side by side. As I said, not even close! Theirs is a flat beige color with a thick texture. They should have just told me they could not reproduce the product and I would have understood. They two they sent are being tossed. read more

A lipstick I love has been discontinued. Have been trying for about a year to find a match, but to no avail. It finally occurred to me to look online for matching service. Tried one, but the color and density of pigment were both off. Then I tried Three Custom Color. I sent to them the remnants of an old tube of my now defunct lipstick. It is rare that I find a lipstick color that I like so I finally contacted 3 Custom Color to make a match for Chanel Surprise #11 which they had in their archives. Scott called me after my on-line order to see if I had any of my original to send in to insure I was happy with the color they made. I mailed it to them but asked they make the best sample because mine was so old. I received the tubes fairly quickly and while the consistency and pigment concentration is a bit different than I remember it is a comfortable hydrating lipstick with the unique color so I am very happy. My favorite Chanel lipstick "metal garnet" was discontinued a few years ago. I still had some left in the tube and sent a sample in with my order. The supposed recreation of the color was nowhere near the original color. The original color was a beautiful garnet color with flecks of gold and what I was sent was a horrible purplish color that was hideous. I actually threw both tubes in the garbage. I discovered this company ( through a Google search) several years ago. My favorite Shu emura lipstick color was discontinued; # 346. I looked everywhere, for a shade that was similar, with the same creamy consistency and no fragrance. After searching to no avail, I found this company and have reordered this lipstick many, many times. The color and consistency ( and fortunately no fragrance) have been perfect and absolutely identical to the original lipstick that was no longer available. They also (perfectly) copied an eye shadow color that I have been using for years, purchased from a very well known makeup salon in Beverly Hills, that I have been going to for the past forty years.
