And she continued to be that way with every check-in and check out. My physical therapist was Samantha and what a healer she was. She was very aware of my pain and my muscle responses which made the programs she designed that much more helpful! Her exuberant demeanor helps pull one out of their pain so the healing becomes so much easier. The techs that help with the assigned exercises are wonderful as well! Kenzie(sp?), Zach and Jasmine made my workouts a joy. They are such caring and kind people. I observed the other Personal trainers to be caring in their work with other patients as well. I went from extreme pain and no mobility in my left arm to great mobility and the best reduction in pain I have ever felt. If you are looking for a kind, caring and knowledgeable group to help with therapy this group is it!

The staff in the Oaks, the nurses, and the administrators always proved to be professional in their service but also kind and compassionate in the way they served. She had a UTI and the nurse called her "crazy". How insensitive is that? If they get frustrated with you they will just hang up the phone on you. Very professional right? They give her and other patients benzodiazepines unnecessarily to sedate them when they don't want to deal with them. I have told them I DO NOT want my grandmother sedated and I find out they give her Ativan and Valium anyway. NOT happy! The food is completely unacceptable for $7,000 a month. They give your loved one's clothes to just any resident even if their name is in it. And you can be assured that the staff will bring COVID in with them and spread it to your loved one as I've caught 2 nurses without masks on. Yes nurses. They can never seem to get that under control, yet they will continue to blame the residents for spreading COVID, yet the residents never go out. Hmmm. There have been cases of abuse reported at this facility, yet administration just sweep it under the rug and act as if it nothing ever happened. Go check out: https://www.wbtv.com/2020/01/06/concerned-daughter-captures-elderly-mothers-nursing-home-abuse-hidden-camera/ The pictures of this facility are from when it was first opened, these are not current. The staff is like a revolving door, they cannot keep help there. Again, RUN from this place as fast as you can!

Whenever I visited, I was treated warmly, and my father was always resting comfortably in a clean room and a pristine bed, with carefully laundered, comfortable clothes. He had dementia, so he was unable to tell us how the staff was treating him (and never having been the type of person to complain) we had to take non-verbal cues. All the cues pointed to a staff that was both patient and caring. Trust was essential to us and something we considered heavily before deciding on a place for our beloved father. During his final days, our family experienced feelings that I cannot properly put into words here. Likewise, I am unable to express how sensitive the staff was in their treatment of my father. I imagine that they deal with loss on a regular basis, but never once did they regard our grief casually. My father was a kind, gentle, man and was known for his singing voice, his whistling, his love of jazz and his love of the Word. The staff made sure he was able to enjoy all these things during his final days. They all knew him by name, and said he was easy to care for and easy to care about. This was evident in their heartfelt farewell. You can not pay someone to care, and [care] is what they did here. Perhaps I have not adequately relayed, but in my heart I will absolutely, always appreciate every last member of this staff for giving of themselves so selflessly, when it counted most.

It's considered the end of the line! But I made a discovery today that's somewhat changed my perspective of this dreadful facility. It's been split into two parts. The part that is the last destination for patients is called Brookview. The second half of this place is now called Magnolias and it's for rehabilitation purposes! Patients not considered to be terminally assigned. I visited my old friend there today and I did it with trepidation! My many previous experiences here have been horrifying and disgusting! At any rate my old pal was in a private room that was very acceptable! The Magnolias portion did not smell bad and I didn't see any residents strapped to wheelchairs! The Brookview side is mostly filled with Medicaid patients crammed four people to a single room. Horrid smells and incoherent language with patients crammed together like sardines in a can is the norm! Magnolias on the other hand did not appear to be that way at all! Additionally; this review is about the physical facility and not the fantastic nursing staff at both places. I cannot thank the employees here enough for keeping a great attitude while working in challenging conditions! It takes special people to care for those who cannot help themselves!

People of Color are not welcome at this Treatment Center, and during my very short time there,…read moretheir staff failed to make sure I felt comfortable settling into their treatment program. Their staff was unwelcoming, unfriendly, and embarrassingly lacking in Diversity (which is quite a shame being it's the year 2023). I was only a client there for 3 days before I was told I was being discharged based off a staff vote whether I should stay or not. I had expressed my concerns about the staff in one of their group therapy sessions, and I had planned on speaking to someone in their Administrative Positions about the way I had been treated by the staff. I was prepared to speak to someone because I took notes and wanted to be clear on what I was experiencing. Before I even got a chance to speak to someone, a few members of their technical staff fabricated stories about me and my behavior trying to make it seem like I was the problem when in fact, they were unwelcoming, unfriendly, and lacked in Social Skills. So I was told that I was being discharged based on lies mentioned by their staff about me. As I was being told about me being discharged, a middle-aged white man with short black hair and receding hairline came up to me, verbatim told me to "pack my sh*t and get out of their facility". I asked him who he was, He said he was the owner of the facility, I asked for his name and he said it was Russ and when I asked for his last name, he said that I was such a smart a** that I could "figure it out on my own". After that, one of their staff members named Daniel tried to say that I was caught on Camera "taunting" the staff members, and when I asked him what physical behaviors involve taunting someone, He could not give an answer, he got frustrated and also told me to "pack my sh*t and get out of their facility". This review is being written online because the staff and higher-ups at this Treatment Center failed to get my side of the story and they failed to take my feelings into consideration. Take note that I did not initially reach out to this Center seeking treatment, they got my information from another Treatment Center in Charlotte and they asked me if I was still interested in seeking treatment... I never called them begging to enter their program, they reached out to me, they called me multiple times to see if I was interested in joining their treatment program. They knew I was homeless, sleeping on the streets of uptown Charlotte before coming into their program, and that still didn't stop them from lying on my character, showing inhumane treatment to a person they were discharging, and dropping me off at a nearby QuikTrip gas station with all my belongings including my suitcase and a big duffle bag. The way I was treated at Carolina Center for Recovery in Charlotte, NC is the absolute worst experience I've ever had being a patient at a Recovery Treatment Center. If I could give them 0 or negative stars on this review, I absolutely would. I would not recommend anyone going to this treatment center, spending their hard earned money or insurance benefits on this treatment center, and I absolutely would not recommend this treatment center to People of Color struggling Addiction, Substance Abuse, and Mental Health issues.

They…read morerefuse to take responsibility for their serious mistakes and gaslight me whenever I confront them. The latest incident involved their failure to notify me when my mom fell at the facility. They sent her to the ER and had a contracted after-hours medical service call me from an 1800 number at 6:48 AM. This provider didn't inform me to look out for such a number in emergencies, so even if I had been awake, I wouldn't have known to answer. The Optum service team admitted they couldn't provide a specific number because calls come from various numbers. The facility claims Optum acts as their extension, while Optum says they aren't employees of the agency and that their relationship with the facility does not stop the facility nursing staff (staff in general) from contacting me directly. My mom has been at this facility for years, and they have always called me in the past when she fell or needed to go to the hospital, not the contracted Providers. From what I understand ( by research) this appears to be a state and federal violation. The bottom line is that my confused elderly mom was sent to the ER without my knowledge, and I only discovered it the next day when I noticed a wristband on her. She told me she asked the nursing home to call me, but they didn't. The facility continues to avoid accountability, as usual. I requested their grievance policy and form to file a complaint but was denied. Their regional Director decided he would not afford me this right and had the form completed by their Administration, not reflecting my chief complaint. I've received conflicting answers from the facility and the State Rep responsible for holding them accountable. This has been an ongoing battle just to protect my mom's rights and not be bullied by Administration (ignoring me many times, dismissing my concerns and gaslighting me) there because I am advocating for her.

The X-rays gave the unexpected diagnosis of Scoliosis in the lowest part of my spine. I was shocked and nervous. Luckily, mine was diagnosed sooner rather than later. Dr. O'Toole and his staff were lovely. He suggested core strengthening and flexibility exercises. I requested guidance on exercises and a referral to Novant Health Rehab, in the same building. My Physical Therapy Team is Erika and Ryan. They explained that this won't cure Scoliosis but my strengthened muscles will better support my spine and hopefully slow the progress. Erika did my evaluation and explained the first batch of exercises and gave me an elastic band and printed instructions with illustrations, so I could also do them at home. She was so nice and helpful. Ryan has been doing the actual PT with me and I've been twice. He added more exercises and gave me the revised printed instructions with illustrations. Ryan has also been very nice, efficient and thorough with explaining new exercises and he patiently answers all my questions. I do my at home exercises everyday and my flexibility and core strength is improving steadily. I really appreciate the spacious and clean facility and all it's equipment and tools, especially because it is close to home. The overall atmosphere of the PT area, other staff and other patients is very pleasant. I actually enjoy the appointments. After every appointment they update MyChart so I can read all their notes about my progress. I hope you don't, but if you should ever need physical rehabilitation, for health or injuries, I highly recommend them.
