The wife of the owner stated she would…read moreorder us a couch set and if we did not like the color we would be able to get our money back. There was no other sofa & loveseat set that resembled the color we wanted. Therefore she said our money would be returned. I asked her numerous times so there were no misunderstandings as this has never been an option at any other furniture store we went. She reiterated if we paid half up front, the money would be returned if the color was incorrect. Not once did she say it would be store credit. Clearly she knew we would not be able to use the store credit for our sofas as they did not have another option for us. When we went in to see the couches we told the employee about the situation. He was very kind and tried to help us find a set the color we need. He stated, "we have nothing like that right now." He sent us home with no refund and no answers as the owners did not pick up there phones. I spoke to the owner and he refused to return us our money. He implied my husband and I miss understand even though he was not present during the sale. I was not allowed to speak to the wife who "sold" us the set which I believe is very inappropriate. I would understand if a customer was being rude and disrespectful to her but I am very respectful and would never yell or say anything inappropriate to any employee. The moral of the story is we still need to go buy couches elsewhere. We have a store credit with a business that does not own up to what they say. I am basically forced to do business with a company that lacks communicate skills and organization. Train your employees to communicate appropriately because communicate is key in their role. (Also, the owners wife stated the set would take 2 to 3 weeks max to arrive and it took 11 weeks to arrive.)

I always thought it was super high end and expensive for some reason. We decided to just browse one Saturday morning and we ended up having a great experience! There is metered street parking in the front of the store, but there's also a large free parking lot behind the building. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and asked if we had been in before. When we said no, the friendly employee gave us the lay of the land and told us there are three floors to the store and that it's much bigger than it seems from the outside. Totally true! I always thought this store was small, but it's really huge. We started browsing through all the setups and were immediately impressed by the styling of each area and all the different items. They have all kinds of furniture, decorations, and rugs. Prices were clearly marked which I appreciated since it shows they're not trying to hide anything. I was pleasantly surprised that I found quite a few things that would fit into our budget, along with higher-end, more expensive pieces. They also have a clearance section which we looked through. The pieces I saw mostly swayed more modern and a little less traditional, which is more my style anyway. Upstairs we found a coffee table that was a major upgrade from our current table, but still in our budget and actually quite affordable. It has a metal base and a glass/ceramic top that looks and feels like marble. Super sleek and sophisticated! Christine was upstairs and asked if we needed any help. We asked her about the process for purchasing as we wouldn't be able to fit the table into our car. She told us that we could pay for it and come back with a larger vehicle, or we could pay $60 for local delivery. SOLD! I am all about that convenience and for $60 they can pack and carry the pretty heavy table. We paid for our purchase and Christine was super awesome with the whole process. I am so glad we finally stopped in to Stonesthrow and I can't wait to go back! She did say that they also do special orders if you know something you want and they are able to get it in store. Highly recommend looking here instead of Wayfair etc. for a local option. They also provide interior design services!

We went through their service request procedure and it ended up with Klingman's saying it was the manufacturer's problem and they did not cover piling. Klingman's washed their hands of the problem. We went to Klingman's to purchase a quality couch and told the sales person that we would pay extra to get fabric that would not pile. They recommended the fabric we purchased. This is not right that they are not responsible for anything that you purchase.

We had several…read moreitems we planned to purchase: couches, chairs, an entry way bench, bedroom suite plus accessories (coffee table, rugs, decor). We stopped at Klingman's and were pleased to discover that they sell Bradenton and Young leather chairs. We have previously purchased this brand and are very familiar and impressed with the quality. We ended up purchasing 3 leather B&Y chairs from Klingman's and it's been nothing but headaches since. First after spending a significant amount of time selecting the right color of leather, we were told that the leather we selected was not available. We spent more time selecting another color. This time, the color we selected was on back order. Our Klingman's Rep blamed B&Y and said their rep is supposed to make sure the leather samples on the sales floor are current. Our rep called B&Y while we were standing next to her and they assured her they had enough leather in stock for the chair we wanted. We placed the order and were told we'd have our chairs before Christmas. Now deliver is delayed to the end of January with no estimated deliver date provided. It's been one delay and one excuse after another. We were told that one chair would be shipped as soon as it was done and the others would be shipped as soon as the leather came in and they were made. Now ALL chairs are on back order and will be delivered at same time. This is after our rep pressured us to buy NOW because a supposed sale was ending and "I will NOT be able to get these prices for you again." We had a much better experience at Talsma. We actually chose to purchase several pieces of furniture from Talsma after this frustrating experience at Klingman's trying to get a few chairs ordered. We ordered our custom couches and chairs from Talsma a week after we placed our Klingman's chairs and we've already had all of those pieces manufactured and delivered. In addition, Talsma prices were lower. The only reason we purchased from Klingman's is because we wanted the B&Y. We'll be happy when we eventually get our chairs (IF we ever get them) but it was a frustrating process that took too long and has impacted our desire to return to Klingman's again. This is not all necessarily the fault of Klingman's or the sales rep we worked with. But IMO Klingman's needs to make significant changes with this vendor in order to improve the customer experience. Ultimately I don't want to wait 3 months for my chairs that were promised in 6 weeks, so I'll go elsewhere. Two stars only because I hope to eventually get the chairs I wanted.

Yes, I do realize best of the year sales happen monthly in the furniture business, but it still was good timing for me. So off I go to Van Hill and ask for Doug Sheneman since he impressed me so much the last time I was in and bought a new bed which by the way I'm still loving after about 3 months. So anyways I told him that once again I was shopping on a budget and once again it didn't faze him in the least and he showed me several clearance items and sale items that were not only comfortable, but also in the lowest price points they had available. I love the fact that he never tried the old trick of asking me to just sit in the nearby expensive ones to make me fall in love with a more expensive chair and spend more. As it turned out without him suggesting it I sat down in a chair near the one he was showing me that was a little over $100 more than the one he thought I'd like and I ended up buying the more expensive one since it was the perfect fit for my body. So to sum up my experiences here: Doug Sheneman is a great salesman to deal with (I haven't dealt with any of the other sales staff here, but usually if one salesperson is good the others are too), when I've talked with their finance department the ladies there have always been very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful and for the icing on the cake the young men that have delivered furniture to my home have always been clean cut guys who are polite and friendly. In a year or two I'll be in the market for a new sofa and I'll be returning here to look up Doug so he can help me find just the right one for my needs. If you're on a budget both times I've been in they've had 0% financing, they pay the sales tax and free delivery with a certain amount spent. Of course there really are no freebies in life and those costs are factored into the price they charge for the furniture, but even though I understand that I still can't help myself from thinking I'm getting freebies even though I know better. I don't know if they have these promotions year round, but it's a furniture business so I'm guessing they do. If not don't worry because in a month or less I'm sure there'll be another big sale since that's just the way the furniture businesses operate.

    I have been extremely disappointed with Van Hill in the past few years…read more We have furnished our entire house, 2 times over, with Van Hill furniture, but they have gone downhill. A couple of years ago, we purchased a very nice dining table from them. Shortly after purchasing this table, we had a glass of water sitting on the table. The sweat from the glass cause the coating on the table to bubble up and peel off. Van Hill refused to do anything about it, even though it was only a couple of months old. The latest issue is on an extremely expensive section sofa. I did not want to get a power reclining section due to concerns about the life of the electronics. We were sold on it because Van Hill said that all electronics had a lifetime warranty. Well, the power recline feature for one of the seats has now failed for the second time. I spoke to Cory in their service department and he is claiming there is no lifetime warranty and that I will need to purchase replacement electronics.... for a sofa that is only a few years old. There have been other issues with Van Hill, but those are the two largest problems. I would recommend shopping somewhere else.
