Vintage & Charmed Classic Clothing (from here on VCCC) is definitely what I'd consider to be that diamond. It's not just one type or style of vintage clothing, but a mix of vintage, classy, street chic, retro, boho, and other tasteful styles and fashion. And might I add a colorful assortment of clothing fabrics. I'm a fan and client shopper, and I sell vintage as well. But I love shopping different places and buying vintage clothing for myself. It's hard NOT to buy something from VCCC, when the getting is this good and wall-to-wall clothes and colors winking at you. Don't just read this review; go check it out! Virginia led a group of us through a plant and pot decorating class right in the store. For my first Steadfast event, this was well organized and we were well cared for by our host! It was a rare moment of art therapy for me. There were no rules except to paint. At the end, we got holy basil seeds and soil to complete the project. I can't wait to see it grow along with my other plants.

I picked up a beautiful scarf for my momma, as I try to find one for her whenever I'm traveling. Quaint and reasonably priced, there's a little something for everyone, but truly the best part of all is Christine. This shop has a small but diverse selection of hair, skin, and body care products and cosmetics made by, and for, people of color. (and yes, there is a difference. This melanin needs MOISTURE, honey! And lots of it!). I bought a whipped body butter (I think it was Thai Lemongrass and Coconut scented... something like that) and it had this brownskin feeling so silky smooth... chile! In addition to bath and body products, they also sell candles and other fragrances for the home. The shop has a great collection of tops, tees, onesies (for the littlest queens and kings) and accessories with all kinds of positive and uplifting messaging... as well as some with phrases that you really won't understand if you're not from here (Mumbo Sauce, Go-Go, and Half Smokes, anyone?). I scooped up a dope "Native" shirt, with an image of DC and an artistic rendition of it's flag replacing the "a". (Sometimes you gotta flex on the new neighbors just a lil bit.) If you're into more Afrocentric slay, this shop also offers bold and beautifully colored tops and dresses available in prints and patterns endemic to the Motherland. Ashe. The day I stopped by, they had just gotten a new shipment in and there were tons of cute styles to choose from in colors perfect for fall. Additionally, they sell accessories like yoga mats, water bottles, and candles. After walking around the shop for a while, I bought a long-sleeved running top from Oiselle to wear during fall training runs, and I love it. It's breathable and warm, and already a staple athletic top in my closet. I also saw a really cool running tank with "Hill Runners" written down the back that I have my eye on, so I'll definitely be back. I'm so glad I stumbled across this place on a walk around my neighborhood a few weeks ago. It's convenient, sells some of my favorite brands, and is different from the lululemon stores around DC, but best of all Summit to Soul is invested in their customers and the surrounding community. Apparently, they host workouts, runs and community events in southeast DC. I really want to join their Wednesday night long run squad, take advantage of the yoga classes, and become part of the running community here.
