I am disappointed at the poor service and quality provided…read more The shirts which the proprietor altered for me were done to a poor standard and I had to visit his shop three times 9-5 on various days before he was actually available to let me collect them. The alterations requested were basic: take four brand new shirts and shorten the sleeves by exactly two inches while also moving the gauntlets. An alteration I have paid for at countless other back street seamsters across the country before. Yet in contrast to the work I have seen previously, this gentleman's needlework leaves a lot to be desired. My shirtsleeves are now replete with loose threads, incomplete stitching, and a generally shoddy standard of work. I will take my next batch of shirts to a more reliable alterations tailor elsewhere next time. For £10 a pop, this is substandard work and an utter inconvenience to collect them.

The suit itself was less impressive, however, and I returned it several times after many, many fittings as the trousers split on two separate occasions and the jacket sat most uncomfortably on my back. Throughout this process (and I lost count of the number of visits I made) the staff continued to be pleasant, but ultimately I just couldnt seem to get a decent tailored suit. To their credit C&D did refund me 50% after all the trouble I've had, but the bottom line is that I'm still alas less than satisfied with the finished article. It is disappointing that I have a number of quality 'off the peg suits' that fit far better at less cost and far less trouble.
