They sometimes even have food vendors come to the parking lot. Had a great pizza truck which was awesome to bring pizza back to the room especially since the Italian restaurant shut down during COVID. They have a Farmer's Market, boat and golf cart parade, Oyster Festival, Halloween celebrations, great boutiques with fabulous clothing and unique gifts and wine shops and great prices on antiques to include an awesome flea market. Occasionally live music. Which is the best! They has been limited during COVID but hopefully will start up soon.

There are free snacks, sodas, and high-end coffee in your room, and lots of other little treats too. And the nature surrounding the Inn is immaculate. I spent every night on my balcony under the stars, surrounded by lush vegetation and gorgeous water. Beyond the rooms, the facilities are nice. There's a small, but beautiful beach, as well as a small area to swim in the "creek" (the creek is more of a river, and it all feeds into the Rappahannock). There's a boardwalk that rings around the property (which is where I spotted plenty of fish and a crab. And of course, the resort's star attraction, thousands of oysters, which you can join a program to shuck them). They have a marina and are even doing plane rides now. There's an art room offering all sorts of project from paint to clay. It's also a short walk into town and the handful of local restaurants. Finally, an excellent instructor taught me and a few friends how to play pickleball. He was patient and encouraging... while also kicking our butts when we played him LOL! The food was good, with some of the best mushroom ravioli I've had. The bartenders were all nice and engaging, making all sorts of drinks. They have a sommelier on site that runs the wine and liquor program. They also had an exquisitely buttered soft pretzel that I loved. I really appreciated that, on my last day, I asked if I could go on their afternoon boat ride. They said they usually required 24 hour notice, and nobody else had signed up. Nonetheless, they accommodated me and I basically got a private boat tour for group prices (yay for Wed. afternoon availability). I had a fun afternoon exploring the creek and river. To be honest, this level of excellent quality is a rarity in older hotels like this. I've been to more than a few and have, more often than not, found them to have let space deteriorate, provide inconsistent amenities, and uninspired food. Which is absolutely not the case here. Good food, great rooms, service, and amenities, and phenomenal views. A true 5 star stay!

Napped and then went to the pool bar for lunch and beers. Breakfast was great both days, the crab omelet was great. The dinner menu was a little too fine dining for me, but there are local places you can get to within a few minutes. The crowd when we visited was older and really really white. I don't know if that was a function of the day/date timeframe or the cost, we got a discounted via Amex but it was pretty weird that 100% of the guests were white and 98% of the staff wasn't.

No water views in rooms 4&5 but a small water view on the shared porch. Shared porch would be nicer w a small planter or trellis between each room for a little privacy. They had free wireless internet, so you can have some contact with the outside world if you like. This is a classic B&B, decorated in very soothing colors and liveable antiques. Coffee was put out early every morning, and the breakfasts were filling and tasty- with the highlights being what was made there- homemade granola and fresh preserves (jam). Bill makes great omlettes and bacon as well! The two labs, Abbey and Savana are sweeties, but only seemed to get used to us after 3 nights. They are protective and will bark, but in a way as to welcome you home. A quick rub behind the ears and they miraculously remember you. Urbanna itself is SMALL, so make sure you have activities beyond tea and breakfast- we just used the wireless to plan our outings each day. I was pleasantly surprised that our pet-friendly room not only had a door to the back garden (so you dont run through and disturb other guests) but there was no additional fee/rent. Sherry, Ridge, and Sara are so kind and will go above and beyond to ensure you have the best stay, even communicating months in advance to see if we had any requests. The unlimited ice cream and snack bars, speakeasy and all-seasons room were our favorite amenities, but the list is plentiful. Our room had a private patio with firepit, heated bathroom floors, a soaking tub, and so much more. It was beyond clean and comfortable! The icing on the cake: they are pet-friendly, and even provided organic dog treats to our corgi. We came in March for my birthday (they gave me flowers, a note, and a gift) and are already planning a trip back in the summer to utilize the heated pool, kayaks, bikes, and other outdoor activities. Customer service was so terrible (other than the people working the front desk). The front desk team was helpful and professional. No. So you won't know that the locals call it "the Darkside Inn." Not sure if that is just being mean about its upkeep or the people lodging here or the folks who own it or something more sinister. Regardless. Did I say it is the only place to stay in the nearby area? :) if you're on the water in D-vile and don't want to drive an hour to sleep the night, this is your only option. So let me get to it. This is not luxurious or even "nice" by American business traveler standards. But it will beat sleeping outdoors and getting eaten alive by mosquitos on a muggy night. Or sleeping in your car and suffocating to death because you can't keep the windows down because of said mosquitos. Pros: No bugs of any kind in room. The bed and bath linens were crisp white, and all usable surfaces were clean. Comfy and fresh pillows. The management and staff are very friendly. Free and speedy wireless. TV older but worked fine. In-room as well as lobby coffee are both free. Water cooler in lobby so you can fill your bottles. Air conditioning unit worked well! Cons: Heavy smoke smell even in the allegedly nonsmoking rooms, and VERY dilapidated furniture that ought to have been replaced about 25 years ago.. Beds OK comfy but mattresses pretty worn. Stove hoods from when the rooms must have had kitchenettes were still intact but now a microwave and mini-fridge are where the stove used to be. Carpet not well-vacuumed. Window did not open. (Pool wasn't open yet when we stayed mid-May. Beware the hard water - the taste will freak out city slickers when tooth brushing or coffee making. Use the bottled water in lobby is my suggestion to avoid the unpleasant taste. We paid $70 a night in mid-May, but again, price kind of doesn't matter, because, in case I didn't mention it, it's the only nearby hotel. And it will do for a night's rest and a shower and a cup of coffee to get your day going.

This was our first ever experience with a Thousand Trails Park and to say the least, it was a…read morepositive one over all. We had a few, minor issues which I'll touch over in a few but over all it was a great experience! We came in late at night and were told to just grab the first spot and we could settle in the following day, which was fine! So we did, found a spot easily. Went up the next day to the ranger station and were given all of our info and was told we could go and pick any Lot we wanted. So we drove around in our truck to survey the campground and lot options. There were many options! Of all sizes, terrains, and locations though-out the park. The campground was huge and had a lot of people. That said, there were plenty of lots to choose from! We ended up deciding to stay on one of the front lots. We found a great corner lot that was HUGE. Lol We drive motorhome that hauls a car trailer with a Jeep and a Ford F-150 hauling a motorcycle trailer. So the large lot definitely made things easier! We ended up not having to disconnect the car trailer and backed the RV in with it still attached. Still had room in front of the RV as well. So huge plus! During our stay we used the bathroom at the Lodge. Both bathrooms were big and roomy. It was clean, modern, and well maintenanced. Sadly, there was only one shower per bathroom. So if you went up at certain times, you'd have to wait. Other times, it was empty. So it just depends on when you went. The other bathroom located on the northern side of the park was another story though. It was old, run down, cramped, it did have two shower stalls though, but it was just in very rough shape. Their website claims the amenities include a library and a game/billiards room. We never did find the claimed library and it's not listed on the map we were given at our arrival either. As for the game/billiards room, this was... a 50/50. Board games were left with pieces scattered everywhere at times. Some days worse then others. To our surprise and disappointment, everything in this room costed money to play besides the board and card games that you could request - if anyone was available in the room otherwise you had to go all the way across the park to the ranger station to get someone. The website doesn't imply any of this would cost a thing. We absolutely understood the charge for the claw, prize, and video games. It only makes sense. The billiards though was another story. We expected these to be free use for everyone to enjoy. This wasn't the case and I feel the website should put a dollar sign next to these so you know they cost. The campground also had outdoor games and activities, like basketball, volleyball, horseshoes, mini golf, and more! I'm not sure if all the equipment was provided but I believe it was for most. I know for mini golf it was. It was free to get the equipment until the end of our stay when it became $1 per colored golf ball. So we had to settle for white, which were free. A minor annoyance because I guess I just feel it shouldn't cost anything unless you don't return the items. So yeah. There is also a boat ramp which was open till the last few days of our stay due to a heavy storm. There are also several fishing spots. We preferred the one on the river as it wasn't catch and release. The view was beautiful too! At night the water was like a sheet of glass it was so still. Absolutely phenomenal! The spa and hot tub were not open during our trip here at this time. They appeared to be down for remodeling. I think the remodel will come out very nicely, if they ever finish. In our whole time here we never saw anyone working on it. So... Over all there was quite a lot to do at this campground. Everyone was extremely friendly. I do wish that the rangers were more clear about certain things and explained some things a bit better. Like the gate codes. We had no idea we got a gate code till we called to try and get back in and the ranger said the gate codes were written on the back of our hanging card. Like I feel they should have told us this when we checked in especially since I had told them we had never been to a Thousand Trails Park before. I also never located the laundry facilities. As for the on site store, it was pretty much useless. The store was pretty bare, which was disappointing. They did have ice cream but it was well over priced. As you can see, the issues we dealt with were very minor. All in all, we had a great time and experience here and would undoubtedly return here. It would be a top choice for campgrounds in the area! It's only a few minute drive from a 7-Eleven and Food Lion as well should you need anything. So there you have it! I tried to include every detail possible. Great park, great staff, and good location!

We both,…read moreus & our friends, asked to be next to each other when we made our reservation 60 days out & when we called to confirm our sites, we weren't near each other & they said we couldn't change sites. They need to update their system so you can pick your own site when you make your reservation. Or go back to letting us choose our site when we arrive.
