The steak was bursting with flavor and cooked well. The chef also came out and met with us, which I thought was really nice. The only reason it's not 5 stars is the bar had limited options, and I really disliked the dessert. But those were really minor complaints. I had a great time and left happy.

Their rooms are $199/night ($219.50 with taxes).  They do have a two night minimum on weekend. Their rates include everything - many hotels add amenity fees, but they have decided to use simple, predictable pricing so their rates includes their bikes, surreys, kayaks as well as snacks and waters in their rooms and the use of their lobby/living room keurig. They sometimes even have food vendors come to the parking lot. Had a great pizza truck which was awesome to bring pizza back to the room especially since the Italian restaurant shut down during COVID. They have a Farmer's Market, boat and golf cart parade, Oyster Festival, Halloween celebrations, great boutiques with fabulous clothing and unique gifts and wine shops and great prices on antiques to include an awesome flea market. Occasionally live music. Which is the best! They has been limited during COVID but hopefully will start up soon.

I feel so strongly about sharing my recommendation to stay here that this is my first-ever (and possibly only) Yelp review. The rooms, property, restaurant quality food, and service were impeccable. Sherry, Ridge, and Sara are so kind and will go above and beyond to ensure you have the best stay, even communicating months in advance to see if we had any requests. The unlimited ice cream and snack bars, speakeasy and all-seasons room were our favorite amenities, but the list is plentiful. Our room had a private patio with firepit, heated bathroom floors, a soaking tub, and so much more. It was beyond clean and comfortable! The icing on the cake: they are pet-friendly, and even provided organic dog treats to our corgi. We came in March for my birthday (they gave me flowers, a note, and a gift) and are already planning a trip back in the summer to utilize the heated pool, kayaks, bikes, and other outdoor activities. A must-see for a relaxing getaway or event, just a short drive to the charming town of Mathews. Thank you to our hosts for a fantastic weekend!

Clean community kitchen w coffee, tea, fridge, microwave Quick walk to beach across street 3 rooms w lovely water views + shared patio. Attached restaurant open for breakfast and lunch w a large sitting porch. Cons: Host owner seemed harried and rushed. With only 5 rooms wed hoped to be able to chat about Cape Charles' offerings B&B style. Cameras on the porch. We sit outside a lot so it felt like a real invasion of privacy. The no smoking signs posted shd be sufficient. Noisy (not the hotel's fault) but there is construction & a concrete saw going across the street all 3 days we were there. No water views in rooms 4&5 but a small water view on the shared porch. Shared porch would be nicer w a small planter or trellis between each room for a little privacy. Weak Wi-fi Wed stay again if Rooms 1, 2 or 3 were available.

Having stayed at boutique hotels here and in the UK, the skimpy breakfast option provided was disappointing.....well, it was nonexistent. Cereal and fruit were empty. I don't expect a European spread, but a simple continental breakfast was, in fact, part of the reservation. We finally just left. Post-survey, nobody followed up. There are free snacks, sodas, and high-end coffee in your room, and lots of other little treats too. And the nature surrounding the Inn is immaculate. I spent every night on my balcony under the stars, surrounded by lush vegetation and gorgeous water. Beyond the rooms, the facilities are nice. There's a small, but beautiful beach, as well as a small area to swim in the "creek" (the creek is more of a river, and it all feeds into the Rappahannock). There's a boardwalk that rings around the property (which is where I spotted plenty of fish and a crab. And of course, the resort's star attraction, thousands of oysters, which you can join a program to shuck them). They have a marina and are even doing plane rides now. There's an art room offering all sorts of project from paint to clay. It's also a short walk into town and the handful of local restaurants. Finally, an excellent instructor taught me and a few friends how to play pickleball. He was patient and encouraging... while also kicking our butts when we played him LOL! The food was good, with some of the best mushroom ravioli I've had. The bartenders were all nice and engaging, making all sorts of drinks. They have a sommelier on site that runs the wine and liquor program. They also had an exquisitely buttered soft pretzel that I loved. I really appreciated that, on my last day, I asked if I could go on their afternoon boat ride. They said they usually required 24 hour notice, and nobody else had signed up. Nonetheless, they accommodated me and I basically got a private boat tour for group prices (yay for Wed. afternoon availability). I had a fun afternoon exploring the creek and river. To be honest, this level of excellent quality is a rarity in older hotels like this. I've been to more than a few and have, more often than not, found them to have let space deteriorate, provide inconsistent amenities, and uninspired food. Which is absolutely not the case here. Good food, great rooms, service, and amenities, and phenomenal views. A true 5 star stay!
