Just stayed here for the 4th of July weekend with our preschool - aged daughter l. We were in one…read moreof the Loft rooms. First off, the staff is awesome. We were welcomed the moment we arrived, and that didn't change the whole time we were there. Our thanks to them for all the advice and help making our vacation a relaxing one. The room was, in short, gorgeous and spotless. No loaner beds for kids, but we just brought an inflatable one that was promptly ignored by our little one who preferred to join us in the comfy, king-sized bed. Can't say I blame her. The room had a full kitchen stocked with plates, pans, glasses, large mini-fridge, etc. We could see parked trains from the window, which made our daughter happy. the bathroom is big and also gorgeous (though as a practical matter a couple more hooks to hang up wet stuff would have been helpful). The hotel offers a complimentary breakfast of cereal, yogurt, and coffee, which was perfect for us. The bright breakfast area turns into a gathering space for the rest of the day, with games and a big section of wall set up for dry erase markers. If you want to go to the beach, they have beach chairs and towels you can borrow and outdoor showers if you want to avoid bringing sand into your room when you get back from the beach. If it's pouring rain, they have umbrellas you can borrow. (Did I mention the staff is awesome?) The beach is walking distance from the hotel, and we went there often. Lots of sand. Lots of beach, and plenty of room to set up and chill. The water is warm and shallow enough for a good distance out that it works well for kids. In town there's not a huge number of restaurants, so that kitchen came in handy. There is pretty a good ice cream shop though, and they do a baby cone for little ones. There's also a playground and park within walking distance of the hotel if you need a break from sandcastles and seashells. I'll also say that as a multiracial family we fit in around just fine. The 4th celebration was fun, with music, food, a fishing competition for kids, and fireworks. A crowd of people, but not overwhelming at all. Even though it was late enough we watched the fireworks from our hotel room (kind of awkward, but it worked), it was a lot of fun. So, both the town and hotel are recommended for a visit. Good times.

Our room, 206, was very clean. That's the part that got the rating to a 3. The bed was very…read moreuncomfortable. In the morning, we went to breakfast at 9 am. There was nothing left except yogurt that was just sitting out in a bowl. I made the front desk aware and the man that had been standing there went to let the staff know. No response. No replenishing. No communication. If you are going to charge over $300 a night, care about your customers. Having stayed at boutique hotels here and in the UK, the skimpy breakfast option provided was disappointing.....well, it was nonexistent. Cereal and fruit were empty. I don't expect a European spread, but a simple continental breakfast was, in fact, part of the reservation. We finally just left. Post-survey, nobody followed up. Customer service was so terrible (other than the people working the front desk). The front desk team was helpful and professional. So, clean room and front desk team was great, comfort and customer service were nonexistent. Not a good experience AT ALL.

We wanted to stay at the Cape Motel based on the reviews but unfortunately it too was sold out. Thankfully, after checking for a fourth time, The Cape Motel, had a room now available. We immediately booked it, received what seemed to be a personal, genuinely amiable, confirming email saying we were all set... "See you tonight". Got there and were greeted by a woman in the office with a warm smile. Promptly we received the keys to the room. PROS Outside: Well lit, parking spots close to room, inground pool area, Adirondack chair in front of each room PROS inside: All newly renovated, enough lights to have a nice bright room, nice size new flat screen wall tv, microwave, refrigerator, table & chairs, luggage rack, a place above the rack for hanging clothes, Keurig machine with complimentary k-cups & creamers (yes real cream), king bed, nightstands, desk & chair, composite wood-look flooring which I like MUCH better than carpet, ceiling fan, AC unit, lovely vintage looking updated bathroom with shower tub combo, fresh clean smell (like actually clean, not just a cover). CONS inside: wish there was a full length mirror in the room (just a mirror in the bathroom over the sink). The towels were neatly folded on the desk. I remembered that after getting in the shower. Would have been nice to have a rack for the towels in the bathroom. There was room for one, at least in room 16, where we stayed. Overall I would absolutely stay there again, and recommend to others, because of affordability, "newness", staff and the quaintness of the property.

Great motel location for a beach town with only a few minutes away from the downtown and beach. The motel had the cutest rooms with a walk-in shower and bathroom. The room even had direct tv and proper air conditioning. The only thing that I wasn't pleased about was the bed not being as comfortable as I wanted. I just wish I was able to stay more than a night. A pool and bar is only a few steps away. What more could you ask for. I would love to come back and stay here in a near future Cape Charles visit.

My wife said the lady working in the office was very nice and friendly. The room was adequately clean for the overnight fee. By that, I mean, it's not a place I would prefer to stay in a 2nd night. There was some road noise in the room. The room needs a thorough cleaning. The fabric chair was very stained and should be avoided. The shower walls were stained. The toilet bowl was leaking because every 5 minutes, the tank was refilling. The microwave did not work. The curtain was too small to block the light from the room. Pulling back the covers, I was greeted with a hair under the covers and a stain on the bed sheet. Most of all, the heat did not work and we visited at the end of December. I suppose they must have known the heat did not work because in the corner of the room, there was a portable space heater. After about an hour of running the space heater, the room temperature became tolerable. Our options for a hotel was limited by the fact that we had our dog. So we're very appreciative that this hotel allows dogs and this cannot be understated. This is also a reason we stayed since we arrived in the late evening. We could deal with it for a 1-night stay.

Please know that my photos are 2025 and VERY accurate also. The location is good, because I was visiting to handle a situation in the lower part of the county.  The person who checked me in was pleasant.  She was a young lady and we even laughed about me not bringing my pet because the purpose of the trip was to get a break from him.  Check-in/out was very easy.  No complaints. The room (costs $244 per night):  Horrible.  The beautiful headboard and footboard from previous photos are gone and were replaced with some decorative, cheap board.  The bed is VERY low and when my sister pulled up the mattress, she saw that there was no box spring, only a white board.  Yes, a white board under the mattress.  In addition, the pillows couldn't have been any cheaper or flatter, so our sleep was awful.  The mattresses were thin and hard and we all woke up with sore bodies. The kitchen:  No way would I have cooked anything in this kitchen.  The burners not only had crumbs, but were filthy.  The toaster also had crumbs.  I pulled it away from the wall and there was a dead roach behind it. Surprisingly, the refrigerator was clean, and we only kept water in it because the bottles were closed.  If a kitchen is being cleaned, how do you overlook the dead roach? The bathroom:  Beware!  The tub is high and there are NO grab bars.  To make matters worse, the tub is slippery.  If you run water in the sink, the drain is super slow and takes a while to go down the drain.  The towels and washcloths are flat, and need to be replaced.  Luckily, the water was hot and the shower was decent because after the horrible sleep the night before, we needed a good shower to make the 4.5hr drive back to Maryland. This is an honest review.  I hope you take heed and stay away.  The owners are well aware that they are running a dump, so if you decide to cut your stay short and leave early, they do not provide refunds!! I can't even imagine anyone staying here, even if they know it's a dump because the price is reasonable.  The price is outrageous for this

The room we're staying in is really run down. Didn't look like anyone cleaned the room, the tub has a HUGE disgusting stain on it, there were flies and a BIG OL SPIDER. Unfortunately we don't have anywhere else to go since we already paid. We had no choice but to go get a bottle of lysol and disinfect the whole entire room. If the room wasn't bad enough, on their website it said they had a pool and free continental breakfast but I was just informed that the pool wouldn't be opening until some time in June (it's literally memorial weekend so it's crazy that it's not open) and they don't have the continental breakfast until some time in June as well. This is FALSE ADVERTISEMENT. If they only have breakfast during certain times of the year then say that on your website. If the pool isn't opening memorial weekend like 99% of other hotels do, then say that! Don't waste your time at this place. I'm sure there are other better hotel/motels to stay at around here.

The choices were camping or staying at a hotel. I didn't feel like loading my car up with camping, fishing and trade-show stuff, so I checked Yelp for reviews. Sunset Resort didn't have anything available, but the Kiptopeke Inn had plenty of rooms open and was comparably priced. The rooms face outside, and my first impression was, hey this is where Earl (My Name is Earl) lives! The room had an identical set up. Tip: Be sure to fully close your curtains or what happens in your room is there for all to see. Nothing special about the room other than there is no bedside clock. I had my cell phone, but it is always nice to wake up, roll over and see the time without having to pick your phone up. There is a microwave and a fridge in there. Flat screen TV, although it is satellite TV, so the channels are limited and some are kinda fuzzy. No plates, napkins or utensils in the room. The pool looked nice, I didn't swim, but it was nicely lit at night. So why the two stars? Well, first of all, this is a $70 per night hotel. I paid (with fees and taxes) ~$150. The breakfast buffet is woeful. Several mini bagels, a few pastries, some mini muffins in plastic and not much else. Yeah, there was coffee and juice, but the cups aren't much bigger than shot glasses. I overheard some other guests say the hotel wasn't ready for prime time and that they had no hot water in their shower. At least mine was ok! After I was out fishing all day, I came back to take a shower and found although my bed was made, they hadn't replenished the tiny shampoos. After my shower I went down to the front desk to get one so I would be able to wash my hair in the morning. They were out of them (which is probably why they didn't resupply my room). To their credit, I found two shampoo containers outside of my room in the morning. So, overall, if this had been a $70 per night place, 4 stars, because my expectations would have been in line with the price (value). But given how short they fell compared to a Marriott at the same price, there is work to be done. I wouldn't dream of staying here again at the current price.
