There are free snacks, sodas, and high-end coffee in your room, and lots of other little treats too. And the nature surrounding the Inn is immaculate. I spent every night on my balcony under the stars, surrounded by lush vegetation and gorgeous water. Beyond the rooms, the facilities are nice. There's a small, but beautiful beach, as well as a small area to swim in the "creek" (the creek is more of a river, and it all feeds into the Rappahannock). There's a boardwalk that rings around the property (which is where I spotted plenty of fish and a crab. And of course, the resort's star attraction, thousands of oysters, which you can join a program to shuck them). They have a marina and are even doing plane rides now. There's an art room offering all sorts of project from paint to clay. It's also a short walk into town and the handful of local restaurants. Finally, an excellent instructor taught me and a few friends how to play pickleball. He was patient and encouraging... while also kicking our butts when we played him LOL! The food was good, with some of the best mushroom ravioli I've had. The bartenders were all nice and engaging, making all sorts of drinks. They have a sommelier on site that runs the wine and liquor program. They also had an exquisitely buttered soft pretzel that I loved. I really appreciated that, on my last day, I asked if I could go on their afternoon boat ride. They said they usually required 24 hour notice, and nobody else had signed up. Nonetheless, they accommodated me and I basically got a private boat tour for group prices (yay for Wed. afternoon availability). I had a fun afternoon exploring the creek and river. To be honest, this level of excellent quality is a rarity in older hotels like this. I've been to more than a few and have, more often than not, found them to have let space deteriorate, provide inconsistent amenities, and uninspired food. Which is absolutely not the case here. Good food, great rooms, service, and amenities, and phenomenal views. A true 5 star stay!

Napped and then went to the pool bar for lunch and beers. Breakfast was great both days, the crab omelet was great. The dinner menu was a little too fine dining for me, but there are local places you can get to within a few minutes. The crowd when we visited was older and really really white. I don't know if that was a function of the day/date timeframe or the cost, we got a discounted via Amex but it was pretty weird that 100% of the guests were white and 98% of the staff wasn't.

I feel so strongly about sharing my recommendation to stay here that this is my first-ever (and possibly only) Yelp review. The rooms, property, restaurant quality food, and service were impeccable. Sherry, Ridge, and Sara are so kind and will go above and beyond to ensure you have the best stay, even communicating months in advance to see if we had any requests. The unlimited ice cream and snack bars, speakeasy and all-seasons room were our favorite amenities, but the list is plentiful. Our room had a private patio with firepit, heated bathroom floors, a soaking tub, and so much more. It was beyond clean and comfortable! The icing on the cake: they are pet-friendly, and even provided organic dog treats to our corgi. We came in March for my birthday (they gave me flowers, a note, and a gift) and are already planning a trip back in the summer to utilize the heated pool, kayaks, bikes, and other outdoor activities. She gave us lots of recommendation for places to eat and things to do and all were fantastic! Her breakfast was scrumptious- yogurt, berries, homemade granolas, egg frittata, avo toast, amazing strawberry cream cheese French toast... She started us with a delicious cup of coffee each day (specially blended for the Inn by the local roaster) at our bedroom-so good that we bought 4 packages for our fam/friends! Their rooms are $199/night ($219.50 with taxes).  They do have a two night minimum on weekend. Their rates include everything - many hotels add amenity fees, but they have decided to use simple, predictable pricing so their rates includes their bikes, surreys, kayaks as well as snacks and waters in their rooms and the use of their lobby/living room keurig. They sometimes even have food vendors come to the parking lot. Had a great pizza truck which was awesome to bring pizza back to the room especially since the Italian restaurant shut down during COVID. They have a Farmer's Market, boat and golf cart parade, Oyster Festival, Halloween celebrations, great boutiques with fabulous clothing and unique gifts and wine shops and great prices on antiques to include an awesome flea market. Occasionally live music. Which is the best! They has been limited during COVID but hopefully will start up soon.

However, the Victorian Inn exceeded our expectations and our previous experiences, in every way! From the moment you walk in the door on day one, until you leave the Inn on the last day, Chris and Moe are very generous and gracious hosts. The Inn is charming, comfortable, clean, breakfasts are delicious, home made cookies in your suite, as well as, in the evening, Toby (the Inn's beautiful dog) is very inviting and loves attention, to contacting a local historian for our group to learn local and family history and the list goes on and on. Arielle at the front is the most incredible, always helping us out with any needs we may have (and the best staff all around). Jess, who is in charge of the entertainment, is unbelievable. She made a very rainy Memorial Day Weekend so much fun for the little kids, with endless indoor activities. The lifeguards and staff at the kids club are so kind and the entire time you are there you feel relaxed and as if you have flown to a resort far away. We look forward to coming back in a few weeks.

When arriving, I was blown away. The room itself, not so much....The walls are thin, the rooms really are in need of an upgrade, and cleanliness is mid at best. This hotel caters to events (i.e. weddings, conferences, etc) - so individual comfort and/or pleasure is not a priority (and it shows). See pictures for more information. I wouldn't recommend for a quiet or quality night of sleep.
