I have been visiting this Thornton's location in Ottawa, Illinois since the day it opened 10+ years ago. In my two visits a week, I can honestly say that every single time I am in the store, a store employee is rude. When I ask for products located behind the counter, they seem inconvenienced at my request. When I ask to scan my Thornton's rewards card, they mutter under their breath and complain...sometimes even curse. The worst part is, I've been putting up with this for the last decade because it's close to home and convenient. However, I have finally drawn and line and will no longer be customer. The worst part is, the employees that constantly give customers attitude are the longest tenured employees and/or management. It is not uncommon to hear management or other employees curse at customers for very simple things like requesting lotto tickets or tobacco products (anything behind the counter they have to physically get for the customer) when there is a line forming. The employees at your Ottawa, IL location are constantly on edge, rude, and disrespectful. And the reason the longest tenured employees are the most disrespectful? Because they have been allowed to get away with it for years with no repercussions! I would dare the company to place a Thornton's corporate representative in that store, in the mornings from 7am-10am. They would be shocked at the service that is provided at the register, and would probably feel comfortable firing numerous employees on the spot. It's a shame this beautiful store is run by such incompetent and inconvenienced individuals, who seem to hate their jobs so much that they take it out on paying customers. Stopped here to get gas on the drive back from Iowa City to Chicago and popped inside to use the restroom. They tout themselves as having the cleanest bathrooms, and it really was pretty clean. :) The store inside was also quite large, with a big selection of snacks, fresh produce, doughnuts, drinks, etc. for sale. Air isn't free. It's a dollar in quarters only, or $1.50 if you use credit card. read more
