The chain seems to have shrunk in the last four or five years, and spotting the open window on the Royal Hibernian Way was a delightful surprise. At last, those little almond-topped nougat squares draped in rich white chocolate can be mine. I met the owner, a Belgian lady called Inge, who recently opened the shop with her Irish partner Declan. She was really lovely, she told me all about how she came from Belgium to open a Belgian chocolate shop in Dublin after falling in love with an Irish man. The porridge was huge. There was no way that I needed both the porridge and the scone but when in Dublin... It was creamy and had a great thick texture. The scone was light and fluffy and paired well with the butter and jam they give you. My only complaint was that I would have liked a larger cup of jam for my scone but only because it was so good!
