Fizzing candy, Reese's everything, chocolate covered pretzels, Hersheys kisses and hugs, Pop tarts, and anything else that is guaranteed to make your teeth hurt. As well as the pre-packaged stuff, they also have about 148 boxes of various sweets that you can mix n match, stick in a bottle, and chose your very own special label for. The price range from €3 for 100ml to €9 for 500ml. (Choose the size at your peril...!) As if this wasn't enough to ensure a trip to Dr Molar, you may also gorge further on milkshakes, ice cream floats and sundaes. And round it off with a nice cold carbonated drink, sure ye may as well. When we saw all the American goods (Reese's, Hersheys, pancake mix, cake mix, peanut butter) we basically had a fit and went wild buying everything (okay, only I did). Overall, I'd recommend any American stop by this place for some staple American ingredients and a bit of nostalgia. They basically have any candy you remember from childhood plus the comfort foods mom always made. The staff person behind the counter was very chatty and friendly, asking me where I was from, but I may have been the rude one since I just wanted my stuff and didn't want to talk. The one downside, which is expected, is the price. I spent about 30 euros on 4 boxes of mac n' cheese and a couple bags of chocolate, but since it's imported it makes sense.

It also is a busy stop for people going to watch GAA games in Croke Park.

Maybe the machine suddenly broke within the last 30 secs? My husband arrived later and we tried our luck this time by ordering a large drink. This time the lady told us a different thing. She said that they ran out. So which story is correct? Was the machine broken or did they ran out of coffee? Note: there were still coffee beans sitting on the espresso machine. I understand that the lady behind the counter wasn't a native English speaker so maybe she couldn't really articulate the fact that drinks were not available for purchase anymore for the day (maybe they ran out of milk or whatever they needed to make drinks. I'll be nice and give them the benefit of the doubt). But this being Laduree and for this Laduree branch to be located inside Brown Thomas which is a luxury departmental store, we expected that the employees they hire would be more competent and able to communicate clearly with their customers. Interestingly, right after us came another customer who ended up complaining to the manager of Brown Thomas about the service of Laduree for that particular evening. According to him, the lady behind the counter didn't first ask how she could help him but instead after he got her attention first, she said "What do you want?" I did end up getting a macaron and a lunch tote from Laduree since there is no Laduree back in Chicago (sigh) but their employees should be better trained to reflect what Laduree is all about.

When I stopped in the shop was kitted out for Christmas shoppers with gift baskets, gluten free puddings and heaped baskets of brightly coloured beans, jellies and lolly pops. Too loaded down from the day's shop to contemplate carrying home anything more, I skipped the all natural biscuit selections and dried fruit medleys, knowing I'd be back in the new year (after all, if it's sugar free my resolution stays intact!).

Scenario 1 leaves you feeling unsatisfied and a bit empty, whereas Scenario 2 leaves you rolling around your kitchen floor with a belly ache and eighty grams of honeycomb lodged in your teeth. Either way, Sweet Factory are gonna rip you off with their clever pay by weight scam-rate, so I think you know which scenario you should pick. 2 obviously.

Well, they still sell them here - and lots more sweets too. This is a really cute shop that makes you feel like you've gone back in time when you go in. Definitely worth a visit for the candy alone!
