Pies, smoothies, trifles, ice cream. Yum!! We purchased a bushel of apples on our last visit, which we cored/peeled/sliced using an inexpensive gadget from Target or Ace Hardware(?). Froze on cookie sheets then transferred to gallon bags. We bought some that were a bit soft for pie--maybe because we froze them?--but are great dehydrated (for us & our dogs!) or made into apple butter. (Pies? Ask for the firmest apple.)

The farm offers packaged sunflower, sunflower radish, opal basil, and other sprouted 'microgreens.' You can use these to make a 'superfood' salad with veggies/fruits and dressing of your choice, and it's so fresh and lovely! They are organic, too! Check them out! :D +sunflower greens :D

The lady had the microgreens mixed with extra virgin olive oil and sea salt. The taste was phenomenal. I have since bought all of the different versions and purchase them whenever I go to WF. The microgreens even taste good all by themselves. I have found myself noshing on them while putting away groceries. They are truly wonderful. Hard to believe they are so darn good for you. Only bad thing is the cost, but you do get what you pay for nowadays. Thank you , New Day Farms, for making such a wonderful product.

The Culpeper Farmers Market, open Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 12 noon from the end of April to…read moremid-November, is a friendly & delightful place to stop by & do some local shopping. It's rare that I ever skip a Saturday morning there. In fact, this morning had me lugging home bags of baby Rainbow Swiss Chard, baby Tatsoi greens, & a type of baby Asian lettuce; some lovely apples; heirloom tomatoes; green beans; baby white potatoes; mixed colors of bell peppers - I'm sure I've left something out, but you get the picture. There's a fairly wide diversity of products available - while the majority of vendors are selling fruit & vegetables (some certified organic), there are also several local honey vendors, a smattering of fresh local meat producers (beef, pork, poultry, lamb - even goat sometimes!), eggs, both cut & potted flowers, baked goods, preserves, herbs/spices, a few arts/crafts, & even a local mushroom grower. During the spring months, there are plenty of garden plants & heirloom vegetable seedlings for sale, & during the summer, there are even a few cooked food vendors now & then, serving anything from grilled items to Indian fare. If there's one gripe I have, it's that I find it doubtful that all of the vendors are actually selling what I'd consider "local" produce; I'd swear that a few vendors - & it's fairly easy to spot which ones - are bringing in produce from Lord knows where. But I know which vendors are, in fact, local & honest (they're easy to spot), so make a point to purchase from them exclusively. Bottom line - very nice spot to while away a Saturday morning & pick up some healthy locally-grown produce for the following week's meals.

As avid cookers and bakers at home, it takes a lot to impress us, and this bakeshop certainly did. And to address the 1 start review I see from someone, most bakeries have been around the $8-$15 price range for fresh loaves of bread for some time now. Considering this is still within the "DC" area I'd say that's average pricing. No prices on the website? --a lot of places don't list prices because they fluctuate too much.
