Thornbury records may not be the biggest record shop around, nor may it stock the widest range. But it keeps up to date with fresh titles in stock. The 2015 release of the Courtney barnett album sold out within half a day. There's plenty of releases by local musicians here; think cooking on 3 burners, 7-up's and a bunch of others. Re-issues of classic albums are available too. They can even order something in if you wish, tracking down the last copy, of, in this case the pokey la farge album. It's pretty good here, as you'll usually find a release you like, as opposed to the overly commercialised pop that JB HI Fi stocks exclusively now.
It mainly stocks classic and hard rock; black sabbath, and other later artists, but you may also be able to find some folk stuff by bill Callahan or even on the other spectrum of things Clark. It's best to have a browse, as what you want may not be immediately obvious. read more
