How I know this is because I have a test. I am a huge film lover and there was a film I watched when I was younger called "Don's Plum" and have never found a copy since due to the fact it had a very limited release as it was boycotted by actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire as the whole film is in black and white and is overexposed. I actually really liked it and no DVD store has ever had it, let alone heard of it. Until now. Not only did they have it in, the "film buff" behind the desk told me the history of the film and gave me recommendations on other films I probably hadn't seen. This is the nature of the store and is understandable due to the fact there are sections dedicated to "100 films you have to see before you die" (made by the staff) and "Highly recommended" (again by the staff) but due to their undoubtedly good knowledge it makes selecting films easy. If that's not your thing there are also sections categorized by Director's name, Academy Award winners, Stoner flicks, Chick flicks, Arthouse, Foreign, Nostalgic, Cult and more! It's a film lover's paradise. It's almost too good at times as they have films that aren't registered to Australia's region and will only work on some DVD players. Again, this just shows they are committed and the one time they didn't have a film I wanted, they were happy to order it in and probably took it quite personal.

I know it SAYS that it has lots of imports, but it looks like the kind of shop that stocks all those $2 made-for-tv shockers that you only ever watch if you're... actually, that you just never watch. Pleasantly surprised, then, to discover that the reason the place looks shabby is because the money goes on importing rare editions from all over the world. This is the sort of place that you only go to if you actually care about owning the US and JApanese releases of whatever it is you're into. I'm not that sort of person (if I find the time to sit down and watch a movie, I really don't care all that much where it's from), but my friends are and I've since found some good birthday presents.

In this day and age, $1 doesn't get you much. At Video Busters however, the $1 movie deal on tight-arse Tuesdays will get you any movie (including new releases) for just 1 buck! Other great deals include five 7-day DVDs (You can have a Gossip Girl extended marathon) for just $5. Besides that, I love that they sell their old DVDs off for a fraction of the cost compared to some other chain stores. My verdict is, rent it, love it, buy it. And Video Busters gives me that choice, all in one store.

They also have a set of computers at the back of the store and for a small fee you can browse the web or use Wi-Fi.

But I digress). They literally have all types of music here. The sales assistants are great,and can introduce you to some new things based off what your current likes are. They stock everything from Blues, to thrash metal, to country to 90's girl and boy pop bands (Oh how I miss the Spice Girls.Just saying..). Of course, the vinyl records attract the DJ's too, though I personally dont even know how to turn a record player on. They have absolutely everything in this store. I'm a comic book enthusiast, so the comic book section excited me a bit. Unfortunately, the majority of their comics are wrapped in plastic so free loading in the store is out of the question (darn!). If you're into the more Asian side of comics, they have a pretty good manga section too with all the essentials (maybe missing a lot of the obscure mangas, but Minotaur is a good place to start if you're just getting into it). They also have a wide collection of films, posters, books, shirts, and even games and toys. There are random knick-knacks too so it is always fun to come in and just take a look around even if you aren't purchasing anything. Cute things I have found: a stuffed animal of the pig TonTon from Naruto, SuperMario Brothers Mushroom Backpack, Star Trek Bobbleheads, Hello Kitty Monopoly, and multi-coloured Domos! 2 stars off because the prices are pretty steep... but even if you aren't purchasing anything, I would recommend you stopping by just to take a look around.

Magnum Movies will have something to appeal to your tastes. Magnum Movies does more then rent DVDs. They sell mobile phone credit and have a small Internet cafe, supply ink cartridge refill and disc cleaning and repair as well as selling all the movie related snacks and treats. There is also a retro arcade games area and game rentals. They always have a range Ex-rental and new DVDs for sale, the range available is better during a promotional sale. The combo packs make Magnum a budget choice. Sunday to Thursday get 2 new releases and three weeklies for $11 or 3 new releases for $12. Everyday deals include 1 new release and 5 weeklies $11 or 2 new releases and 5 weeklies $14. I still prefer the ease and cost of getting my new release rentals from an Oovie machine, but for weekly titles and the ease of location, Magnum Movies does a great job.
