This hotel is not a 5-star hotel, but I am giving it 5 stars because for what it is -- it's great. Here's the breakdown:
Location: Simply the best. Situated right in the City Center, this is close to so many shops, restaurants, museums, Parliament, the water and abundant public transportation stations, including one which provides you an express train to the airport. Safe, convenient, and not noisy (even staying on the 2nd floor)!
Amenities/Service: Yes, this is a budget travel hotel and not a luxurious spot, but many notches above a hostel. Twin beds, small bathroom, but very tidy. I did not have any problems with hot water going in and out -- hot the whole time. There is only an "all over shampoo" in the shower, no separate shampoo, conditioner and body wash, nor any lotion. There is a mini fridge, hair dryer and iron/ironing board in every room and the cleaning staff is so thoughtful. I had a few pairs of shoes in the room and when I returned one night, the staff had neatly paired them up and lined them up in a row -- a small gesture that meant so much.
The lobby is small, but with free coffee, a computer and nice couches and chairs to sit and wait. The check in is at 3:00, but after seeing how weary I was after traveling, the front desk was very accommodating and let me in at 1:00. They were also very helpful prior to my trip, emailing me back promptly when I sent them a few questions.
THAT BREAKFAST!! As mentioned before, the breakfast is simply amazing. Included with the price of your room, you could really have an entire feast. There are hot items, including scrambled eggs, over easy eggs with ham, potatoes, sausage, hard and soft boiled eggs, all kinds of cereals (hot and cold), breads and pastries, assorted meats, cheeses, pâté , vegetables, fruit and spreads. Juice, coffee, tea and three varieties of infused water in pitchers...and I'm sure there's plenty of additional food I'm forgetting. For 85 kroner you can pack up anything you want and take it with you for lunch, too.
I would definitely recommend this hotel and when in Oslo again, I will definitely stay here. read more
