This place was fantastic and also very convenient. For the past several years, we have gone all over looking for trees and end up going to Home Depot and paying like $160 for a 8 to 9 foot tree. This was a cut your own place Right off of Prospect Road, and we got a 9 1/2 foot tree for $114. I didn't feel like cutting the tree myself so they cut it for free but they got a good tip. Super friendly and quick and lots of trees to pick from. We will be going there every year. read more

Though my experience here was not with buying a tree, my family and I have taken our annual Christmas photos here for the past two years, and the owners are beyond sweet! They waived the photography fee with good faith that we would respect their farm land, which we do. E has been so kind and gracious to us, I just have to sing her praises! They have the cutest little hot cocoa station/gift shop upon entry of the farm, and the actual tree lot is so beautiful! Wonderful family and business. read more

When we arrived, we were rather shocked to find out that the original owners had sold a couple years ago right after we had visited. Last year, we missed our chance to come up and pick a tree, so we had to go to a different tree farm. It was OK, but just not as good an experience. We had a wonderful time, but we had a hard time finding a tree that would work for us. I called up to the "office" a few times, and got an answer on the fourth attempt. They ARE busy, so it wasn't an issue for me. I wanted to double-check the policy on the trees. (Bow: reserved for a customer; Yellow Tag: already sold; White, Red, or Blue Tags: for sale; No Tag: saving these for next year's crop.) After inquiring and letting them know we were having a hard time finding a tree, they let us know to call back if we couldn't find anything. However, a couple minutes later, they called back to let us know that they'd reached out to management and they quoted us a price per foot for an untagged tree. (This was a special circumstance.) We finished up and found some lovely gift shop items. They still have hot cocoa with marshmallows, but the cider and peanuts are gone. They are also employing a very kind Santa Claus for customers to get free pictures. The gentleman that tied our tree down gave great care to the act and was very personable. The only downsides: parking is a little iffy since the neighbors decided to rope off the area that they used to share, going up ahead of time and reserving your tree is still the best option, and the neighbors don't want non-picture-customers walking over on their land anymore...so, no more petting/visiting/feeding the goats or cows. So, all in all, everything was pretty great- despite the changes. read more

We had such a good experience picking out our tree! They had so many trees to choose from and the staff is friendly and helpful. They provide saws and wheel barrows and will help you get your tree in/on your car. Only thing to note is the drive way is semi steep and since its been raining it was pretty muddy. Heavier cars we're struggling to get up so consider that if your car isn't 4wd! Also note that even though most of the trees in the front were labeled with a price tag, a lot of the further out trees aren't marked but are still up for grabs. We got an unlabeled/unclaimed one in the back and they priced it for us when we got to checkout. Good experience! read more

Very disappointing and sad experience. This was my first time EVER to a Christmas tree farm and it's something my husband grew up doing so we were very disappointed when we left with nothing. We found multiple trees we loved but because they didn't have a white tag on them we could not cut them. There also was not a lot of trees with a white tag on them. I don't understand why you have all these trees but aren't allowed to cut them. Overall we left super saddened at the fact we wanted to make this a Christmas tradition since we just moved to Georgia making it our home after my husband separated from the Marine Corps. read more

This has been one of our favorite Christmas traditions to cut down our Christmas tree together and then we get to go see Chewbacca the Scottish cow...his name is not really Chewbacca but I call him that and he answers me every time. I went with my son's pre-kindergarten class. It was small compare to the farms that we have been to, but it was family friendly. One of the workers read to the kids and she read "Spooky the Square Pumpkin" which my boys love. It wasn't crowded which is good if you don't like big crowds. I would suggest bringing a snacks and drinks because they don't offer food to buy and also bring cash to purchase tickets. The people there were so nice and warm. Overall we like it. read more

I visited Thompson's Tree Farm for the first time this past weekend. My experience was a little different than the other reviews. First off, it's a very nice property. But what people should know before going is that if you're going to cut down your own tree, just know you will not be cutting down a Christmas tree. Pretty much all of the trees they offer are cypress trees. As a matter of fact, I planted most of those trees in our yard earlier this year. They are not even shaped like Christmas trees naturally (some are). They trim them to look like that. This means that the end of most branches look very "cut" which gets a lot more noticeable when you bring it into the house. I guess I should have done more research before going. I hope this helps the next person be more informed. As far as customer service goes, that also lacked for us. When w arrived, we were told where to park and then told to walk down the hill. We did just that but there was no one there to help us. After walking around for a while, realizing no one was there to help, I walked back up the hill until I saw someone that worked there. They explained to me how all the Fraser Fir trees were actually pre-cut (and more money than I pay for them at the pop up 5 minutes from my house). After I got the necessary tools, I walked all the way back down to cut a tree. Most trees that were even a little bit nice had "Sold" tags on them which was very frustrating.This is the weekend after Thanksgiving! After walking the entire property, I found a Carolina Sapphire (that I also have growing in my yard) that wasn't too bad. It has a huge gap in the back but it's the best I could find. I should have just gone back home and gotten a tree from our regular spot but I felt pressured since I dragged our whole family out there. Also, beware of photographers. The place is loaded with them. I rested my saw hear an old vintage truck and one lady very quickly and rudely came over to tell me that she rented it. Overall, I'm sad to say that it was not a very good experience. I'm sad to say this because the people I did talk to seemed really nice. And they do have hot chocolate and the gift shop is reasonably priced. I hope this helps. read more

This was our first experience at Thompson Tree Farm! Everyone was so friendly and made our experience SO enjoyable!! We weren't sure if we want to cut our own or do a precut... we didn't feel pressured or rushed. The guys helping carry, trim and get our tree ready to go were so helpful and happy to help. We are so excited for our first real Christmas tree as a married couple! We will be retuning to the tree farm next year! read more

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time at Thompson's Tree Farm! Everyone was extremely welcoming and kind, there was a huge selection of trees, and they do a wonderful job of putting everyone in the Christmas spirit. As soon as we arrived someone greeted us and thanked us for coming out. They have us a quick intro to what they have to offer then we went out on our own. We had a lot of fun finding and choosing the perfect tree, then they were kind enough to wrap it and tie it up to the car for us. It's worth the visit for anyone in the holiday spirit who's looking for a good time with good people. We plan on making our visit to Thompson's Tree Farm a tradition. read more

We visited today for the first time with our 2.5 year old. It was great! A pretty day, friendly workers, a nice selection of sizes and styles.
