Daniel's Funeral Home and Cremation Service

Daniel's Funeral Home and Cremation Service

(1 review)

What a shameful experience…read more After the passing of my grandfather, we walked into Daniel's and were greeted and welcomed with open arms by Jonathan who was kind and thoughtful with our mourning family. Sadly, after plans were made and the check was cut, their behavior changed drastically. Lee was our funeral director, and I genuinely can't recall one positive experience with him. When we arrived at our service the flowers had not arrived, and when we asked Lee where the flowers were, he told us without hesitation that we had not ordered any flowers from Daniel's (they were just running late, but his knee jerk reaction to lie to the recently widowed was a early indicator of how the rest of the day would go). To add insult to injury when the flowers did arrive late, the ONLY flower the wife of the deceased repeatedly asked Daniel's not to include in the arrangement were on display front and center. Throughout the day, Lee treated myself and my mourning family as nothing more than an inconvenience. He was short, rude, and generally pushy all afternoon - treating the sacred ceremony as nothing more than a job he was counting down the minutes until he got to clock out of. On more than one occasion, he gave incorrect instructions to members of the ceremony and argued with members of the family for following said incorrect instructions. After the ceremony was over and attendees were walking out of the church he was frantically rushing grieving family members to their cars, depriving them of any time to talk to any of the 150+ guests who were in mourning with the family, many of which had traveled from states away. This was made even worse by the fact that he had our escort leave long before even half of the attendees had a chance to step out of the church, resulting in a procession which was only 6 cars long, with god only knows how many people left behind. By the time we got to the committal service only 4 of the 6 pallbearers had arrived, and when asked to wait for others to find their way to the cemetery (since they were not able to join the procession due to his impatience), he rudely declined and arbitrarily picked people from the crowd to take the pallbearers place (to make matters worse one of those selected was the ex-husband of the deceased's daughter) and rushed the coffin to the burial site. When folding the American flag after the ceremony he even scolded the gentleman holding the other end of the flag twice in front of the few that found their way to the committal service - all in about a 30 second window. The gentleman who handed the flag to the widowed even got the branch of the military the deceased served in incorrect. There are at least 3 or 4 more anecdotes of equally egregious behavior from Lee, but for brevity's sake those will be left out. It's such a shame that an otherwise wonderful ceremony for a deeply loved and cherished man had such a damper put on it by Lee's impatient, unprofessional, and outright rude behavior. For your own sake, I hope anyone reading this will think twice before walking into the doors at Daniel's if you want your recently departed and their family treated with the tact and patience needed in your time of grieving.
