If you check between the aisles you'll find discount racks that can be as much as 90% off. For me, Dick's can be kind of hit or miss, and that may have swayed the review a little bit, but this location actually had some stuff that I was interested in (and bought). Shoes are in the back of the store and are a level above what you'll find at Academy. Store is clean and staff were all friendly - Really no complaints. Great location - if you're looking for active wear and outdoor gear this is a good place to check out.

Poor Customer Service - Will Not even Answer The Phone…read more I wanted to make a purchase from the Gadsden Alabama Academy Store yesterday. I wanted to see the item I was purchasing prior to the purchase and not just the pictures and description online. Before driving the 1/2 hour to the store, I called the Gadsden Store (256-439-6260) six times to see if the item I wanted was in stock. Despite all my efforts, I could only reach the automated answer line and was stuck holding on it. I was never able to contact a live associate at the Gadsden Store. Thinking the store may be closed, I called the Academy Customer Service Number (888-922-2336) two times. I was again stuck with an automated answer line and left holding. I then called the Trussville Alabama Store (205-661-5500). Wow, a real human answered the phone. I was informed that the Gadsden Store was open. I asked to leave my contact information and for the District Manager to return my call. I was put on hold and another associate came on the line. They stated they had attempted to call both the Gadsden Store and the District Manager and were unable to contact them. This entire episode is a terrible reflection on Academy Sports + Outdoors and their customer service. If I am not valued as a customer, I will be taking my business elsewhere.

When you enter it has a similar look and feel to other locations I've been in. Men's clothing to the right and women's to the left. Kids in the far back of the store. What I did like, they have some stuff that you don't see at the big box stores or the other sporting good stores. The negative was that the one shirt, I actually really liked, was out of stock and the only remaining item was still on the mannequin advertising the product. Prices were on par with other locations, but they also had some sales going on that five a pretty good overall discount. The staff greeted us when we walked in and asked if there was anything they could help us with, nice touch. I guess the main thing is this place doesn't have a 'wow' factor. Not a bad location, three stars is classified as 'A-OK' and this place is just that. If I'm in the area I wouldn't hesitate to come in and check out what they had hanging on the racks.

She immediately recommended the ALTRA hiking boots which have a wide toe box. She brought several models, and I walked out of there with a pair of ALTRA Lone Peak 9 hiking boots. These were probably the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. I have been everywhere in the Huntsville and Madsion for years and have not been able to find a place that has wide hiking boots. I even went to REI who had no wide boots in my size. Gadsen Outfitters not only gave me a Military discount, but they also have a 30 day return policy. You don't see businesses anymore with such honesty and ethics and actually want to help a customer. It is worth the hour drive from Guntersville as I have found a place where not only have boots for my mangled feet, but are experienced, knowledgeable and are an honest business. Specializing in Men's and Women's clothing they change the stock on hand to match the season. Currently it's end of January and they are having clearance sales on all of the winter stuff (even though it's like 40 degrees outside) and getting out shorts and t-shirts. Good selection of product available here, even though they don't have a lot of space. Staff didn't go out of their way to offer support, but when we walked by the registers/check out they were courteous and said hi. If I'm already in the mall I would come by here again. Probably wouldn't make a special trip to the mall just to come here though.

A little smaller than some of the other fan stores, this one still isn't a bad option. They have gear for Bama fans as well as the tigers. In addition to the apparel they have some unique stuff for you to grab for your next game day party - serving platters, pint glasses, shot glasses, insulated drinkware, etc. They also have license plate swag --- they probably have them for Auburn fans as well, not really sure what they could possibly say, but they have them non the less.
