I just have to say this. I can't believe I'm having a second babe. This is long, but it's my story. For those of you who don't know. I struggled to get pregnant. Like STRUGGLED! I check my Basel Temp Daily, I peed on ovulation tests daily, I did the "deed" every other day (as suggested) making sure we did the deed on "ovulating" days. I spent hundreds if not, easily in thousands on these tests. We did this FOR 3 YEARS! Sex wasn't "fun" anymore, it had become a job or our duty. After 2.5 years of trying and failing, (mind you NOT ONCE DID I GET A POSITIVE.) to get pregnant, I was referred to a fertility doctor. That was an interesting cycle for me. He ran all kinds of tests, vaginal exams, HSG tests, sperm count tests, everything. He determined, my tubes didn't work and that I'd need insemination or IVF. Another round of tests then occurred, wait, hold up. "Only 1 of my tubes didn't work?". thanks doc. He also told me my thyroid blood work came back 100% and that my progesterone was normal. Dr. Skrenes keeps getting Yelp to take down my reviews because he claims the information is "second hand" and "lack of first person experience". I was his patient and I just contacted him to remind him he treated me, this is what happened and these are my firsthand experience. Tom Skrenes is a TOTAL QUACK. He gave me mixes of Chinese herbs that I showed another Chinese doctor, who was horrified by these amounts and combinations. No surprise, because Skrenes is not a Chinese doctor or acupuncturist, as he tells other patients and told me. He is not licensed by the State of California. For an Acunpuncturist/Chinese Medicine license in California, a person must complete a minimum of 3,000 hours of Chinese medical theory and diagnosis, acupuncture theory and technique, herbology, and Western medicine, and 950 hours of clinical practice. The delusion of Tom Skrenes continues. Skrenes told me he's cured cancer, Bell's Palsy, MS, Lyme Disease. He would point to the patient and tell me how amazing he is, and the disease he cured. That's a violation of patient privacy, too. Skrenes put me on toxic doses of vitamins, like copper for my foot pain - huh??? I'm embarrassed I fell for that, but Skrenes is a very soft-spoken man and very convincing. He hit me flattery and he told me very convincing victim stories of his life. Really, I needed arch supports Skrenes also diagnosed me as having worms - just through his intuition (which is illegal, per my conversations with the Chiropractic Board). He sold me pharmaceutical drugs he'd purchased in Mexico (also illegal), to cure me. Skrenes is very fixated on worms, viruses and parasites, and he bragged and other patients I talked to that he is the ONLY doctor who can detect these problems and treat them properly. Any symptom I had of getting sick from the toxic doses of vitamins and herbs, and also, he told me take enormous amounts of salt pills, Skrenes said is just "detoxing" and good for my health. But according to my physician and vitamin books I read, Dr. Skrenes was just poisoning me. Why did I fall for this? He's a great persuader. I'm not the only one he conned. This review is long overdue. I came to Dr. Skrenes with autoimmune issues that no MD on the planet wanted to spend time understanding or finding a solution for. After several months of targeted treatment, I am HEALTHY again. Thank you, Dr. Skrenes for taking the time to listen to me and help me get back to my usual self. I was a patient of Dr. Skrenes some years back when I had some pretty debilitating stomach and other internal symptoms. He treated me with his chiropractic hocus pocus where you hold the metal or copper rods in each hand while he does his chiropractic manipulations to your feet and back. I also had acupuncture from him as well as his tinctures and supplements. He also did multiple "muscle testings" to find out what was wrong. Later I found an MD (on my own) that specializes in toxicity and was positively diagnosed with a certain toxicity (via actual lab testing) and was treated by that doctor for it and cured and today am fine. Dr. Skrenes never provided any indication to me (despite all of his " muscle testing") that I had the actual toxicity problem that I had. My point is that nothing that Dr. Skrenes did helped me in any way and he had no idea what my problem really was, BUT was confident to continue me on his regimen of hocus pocus and concoctions which are not cheap! If he was responsible he would have referred me elsewhere. I wasted a few hundred dollars on this quack. I also have someone I know who is treating with him. That person told me that Dr. Skrenes recently advised that person OVER THE PHONE about continuing to take medications prescribed not prescribed by Dr. Skrenes. How did Dr. Skrenes come to that conclusion? - By doing "muscle testing" over the phone which confirmed to him that the patient has a certain medical condition which that person should continue to take a medication for (but was not prescribed by Dr. Skrenes!!!). So he is basically giving advice about prescriptions although as a Naturopath/Chiro he is NOT even able to prescribe medications! How can he provide ANY opinion to any of his patient's about whether they should continue to take their medication(s) prescribed by their doctor???? EXTREMELY RECKLESS if you ask me. Overall, I obviously would not recommend Dr. Skrenes. If you still wish to be a patient of his, I would NOT believe any diagnoses he provides you based on his so called "muscle-testing" or his gut instinct. Been to see Dr Skrenes now two times. This past Wednesday and three weeks prior. I had some complications with my prior pregnancy and I wanted to make sure this didn't happen again so wanted to check out what's up with my body. I am so happy that I found Dr. Skrenes. He has not only helped me, but also my husband and numerous friends as well. I am a true believer that we are what we eat. The problem is, in our modern society, poor labeling makes it hard to determine what it is that we are actually putting into our bodies. That said, because of what we've put into our bodies and our thought processes, many of us are walking around with aches, pains and dis-ease that we are often so accustomed to, or think we can't cure, that we almost give up. I would like to write a rebuttal to the comments made by both Zachary and D.S. I have been Dr. Skrenes' patient for the past 15 years or so. He has never made me sick, which is more than I can say for at least two or three licensed MD's. I was given overdoses of thyroid medicine by one and ended up in the hospital as the guy nearly killed me. Even the ER doctor said he was a candidate for a malpractice suit. I don't sue and I am alive, no thanks to that MD. I was recently given both statins and blood pressure by my endocrinologist "in case" I have a problem. Both drugs reacted so badly that I swore never again. Dr,. Skrenes has suggested herbs and concoctions that I felt I didn't need so I didn't take them, but he has never given me anything that has hurt me in any way. The first time I went to him, I had a funny thing on my leg and had gone to an MD who didn't know what it was so suggested I go see a dermatologist. I hadn't received the referral when I went to see Dr. Skrenes. He took one look at it and said, skin cancer - get yourself to a surgeon ASAP. I did, and it was taken out and I am well. But if I had waited for an MD to diagnose it, I would be dead by now. I see a regular MD, endocrinologist, cardiologist, etc.,as I am a senior lady, but they tell me I am in very good health considering my age - and I know Dr. Skrenes is mostly responsible for that. Have you ever been 100% in everything you did? Dr. Skrenes is not perfect and he doesn't always make the perfect choices, but his average is so much better than most of the MD''s and specialists I've gone to, and I have never had to go to the hospital because of anything he has given me, unlike one or two of my regular MD's. I will defend him as much as I can as I totally believe in him and what he is doing. I have had sciatica from falls at least twice that he has cured, parasites from eating bad fruit when I went on an overseas cruise, my granddaughter who is a soccer player was helped when she got hurt on the field, My son, who has a bad vertebrae in his back has only been helped by him after going to several other doctors who did nothing for him. I would like to defend Dr. Tom from the other people who have had a bad experience with him. First, if you want to get help other than regular medical practitioners who have not been able to help, then you go to ALTERNATIVE medicine to see if you can get help that way. This is what Dr. Tom does. If you go to see him and expect to be diagnosed the same way as a regular doctor, then you are in the wrong place. If you think that when you take his concoctions that you will be symptom free and well the next day, then you are in the wrong place. This is a holistic place where they do not use the same diagnostic ways to see what is wrong, and neither can you expect to be symptom free immediately. As in most other ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE, their diagnostic methods may seem like quackery and don"t seem to make any sense at all, but as Shakespeare says, "There are more things in heaven and earth Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." Holistic methods works with and treat the whole person, from the root of the problems, not just the symptoms. It is much less invasive. Therefore it may take a longer time for the symptoms to go away, but rest assured that the "root" of the problem is treated so that the symptoms from that "root" eventually do go away, leaving an organism that is stronger and able to cope better the next time an onslaught of germs and disease comes your way. Mostly what is wrong with regular medicine is that doctors give you the NEWEST, STRONGEST, medication that is being advertised by the pharmaceutical companies so they are able to recoup the millions of dollars they invested in the research and development of that medicine. That medicine(usually antibiotics), usually kills EVERYTHING in the body, even the good germs that bodies need to be stronger. It is like using a bomb to kill an ant! There is so much collateral damage that the organism is left without defenses and weaker than before the medication. Alternative medicine is not foolproof, but I would rather use the gentler, more human friendly ways to treat disease and leave the strong regular medication for more serious situations when you really need 'the big guns.' I started to see Dr. Tom about 5 years ago, and now my husband and my son go to see him as well. I half expect that maybe sometimes what he has prescribed will not work for us, but I have been wrong countless times. If you really take what he has prescribed the way he says, then it has NEVER been off the mark. What I do caution is that I don't think that you can use insurance with him, at least I know we are not covered, and the supplements can all be VERY EXPENSIVE. We ran out of all our supplements, and for 3 people we spent $1100! Even as such, our individual problems and situations are all taken cared of in a gentle way that doesn't destroy everything in our systems. I have spoken to many other people in the clinic who swear by his methods. With so many people who have been helped, you must make a decision to go and try this ALTERNATIVE MEANS to feel better, or stay with regular modern medicine that is, after all, only about 2 hundred years old. This guy is the best! Sitting in his office was like stepping back in time with an Apothacary with herbs, crystals, and potions all over the place in neat little rows. I was fed up with western medicine when I was going on my 3rd month of having a HORRIBLE cold that would NOT go away, when a co-worker told me about Dr. Tom. His overall first physical was the MOST interesting and complete one I have EVER had in my 45 years. He could tell I had certain food allergies and current health issues by doing several things from looking at my tongue to adjusting me. My husband and I have been seeing Dr. Tom for about 16 years now. My best friend knew Tom when he was in school and starting out. She actually became one of his class models he demonstrated in class with. Tom studied with doctors of Chinese and Indian influence. But Tom also has a strong intuition and when and if he can connect with you, he can help you a great deal. My friend introduced us when my mother's health was failing and he improved my mom's quality of life tremendously. She was very conservative with respect to medical practices. To her, doctors were the only game in town. Until they couldn't fix her. They just gave her different drugs to alleviate her conditions. It became a vicious cycle and she finally agreed to try Tom. She was a trooper and took his regime. We started out slowly and adjusted as time went on. Tom will give you the full regimen due to your testing but you have to see how that works for you.
