I am a jewelry maker, and going here recently was perhaps one of the most dehumanizing shopping experiences I have ever had. I will share more about that later in the review, but first here is a breakdown of facts for those considering shopping here:
Pros:
Decent assortment of gemstones, availability of gemstones in varying sizes , and qualities.
Cons:
Unbelievable price markups, Very poor customer service, lethargic owners who belittle customers, and make them feel unwelcome, Racially prejudiced.
My Experience:
I went here to get gemstones for a project. As I requested to see the different stones, the gentleman and the lady who own this shop frequently exchanged looks, and rolled their eyes, as if I was causing them great inconvenience in asking to see their merchandize. Two other shoppers were in the store at the same time, and the owners were constantly laughing at the accent of one of the shoppers. When I asked about a particular cut of ruby, I was duly informed: "For something that poor in quality, maybe an Indian gem seller would have it. They are good those." Needless to say, I was left speechless! The lack of professionalism here is astounding. When asking specific questions about the quality or source of their gemstones, expect the owners to make you feel as if you were asking an impertinent and utterly stupid question. I can't say I have ever felt so belittled while shopping and the owners are definitely racially prejudiced as evidenced by their uncouth comments, and their apparent habit of making fun of customers with accents while the customers are still there!
Bottomline:
This is not a good place to go if you are looking for that perfect gem/s at a good price, and want to have a good experience while shopping for it. There is another gemstone store on the seventh floor in the Jewelry exchange. I have had positive experience shopping there, but if you are in the market for gems, you are welcome to check out both the places, and decide for yourself. Happy hunting! read more
