My husband had this original designer ring rush ordered for Mother's Day and I noticed only a week later that the plating wasn't right... The inside of the ring had some tool clamp markings and discoloration from the plating not being finished correctly in the final process of rhodium plating. (I decided not to fault the designer due to such a fine piece being rushed on my husband's request to gift it to me in time, and this is why hand crafted pieces shouldn't be rushed) I took it to Joel and he went above and beyond for me to make my dream ring absolutely flawless and PERFECT! I knew from my last visit that this jeweler would fix my ring to perfection. Such a wonderful experience each and every time. I am forever grateful to the Ben and Jenny at Diamonds Forever. They really know how to make a guy feel comfortable buying an engagement ring. It was probably one of the scariest things I've ever done. I was clueless about the whole process when I started. They were straight-up with me every step along the way. They both spent the time to ask about my fiance. They helped me figure out all of my options and then let me decide (no pressure). I ended up going with a solitaire to propose with. I just wasn't confident enough to design the engagement ring without her. Some guys may, but I'm just not that guy. Jenny made me feel good about my choice. And, it really was the right one. It was fun designing it with her. Jenny designed an amazing custom engagement ring. She's working on our wedding bands now. I also bought a pair of vintage emerald earrings for my fiance's birthday. I just gave them to her last week. She absolutely loves them. This is the only place I will ever go for jewelry. There isn't another store like it in San Diego. Every other jewelry store I visited had a lot of the same generic rings. Diamonds Forever has all very original pieces. And they were able to design exactly what we wanted within my budget. We had to make choices along the way, but we always felt like we were making an informed decision. That's all because of how transparent Ben and Jenny made the whole process. The other jewelry stores I visited were Harold Stevens, John Franklin, Diamond Connection, and David & Sons. They were all high-pressure across the board. And, not one of these other jewelry stores asked about my fiance. They only asked what I was looking to spend. I had some old gold jewelry and coins that were just sitting in a drawer for years. I wasn't desperate for money but for kicks I thought I would see what they were worth. I had seen the Leo Hamel ads about buying gold, so I started there. To start with the guy told me that it wasn't worth much. I asked for a price and he asked me what I wanted for it. All of this without even touching it. He finally made an offer, but it seemed ridiculously low. My next stop was Diamonds Forever. This was much better than Leo Hamel. There was no nonsense. Ben tested the gold and made me an offer. It seemed like a good offer, but I wanted to get one more offer to compare. I then visited the San Diego Gold Refinery. Carmine was also very straight forward. He tested the gold and made an offer. A decent offer, but not as good as what Ben at Diamonds Forever offered. The next day, I went back to Ben and finished the deal. He's a good guy. No pressure. Completely hassle free. And, he made the best offer of all three places. Leo Hamel was by far the worst place I visited. The offer was the lowest and the customer service was the worst as well. The San Diego Gold Refinery was better than Leo Hamel as far as customer service, but offered less than Diamonds Forever. Overall, I have to give Ben at Diamonds Forever 5 stars for making me an offer I couldn't refuse and letting that offer speak for itself. No high-pressure tactics like at Leo Hamel. No dramatic bullet proof partition like at the San Diego Refinery. Just a good guy offering a great deal. read more

Amy is honestly one of the most professional, helpful, and friendly jewelers I have ever met in my life. So much so that I've already gotten a gold pinkie ring, bracelette, and chain from her. I've referred multiple friends and family to her as well. When I was shopping around, I saw jewelers as very intimidating individuals who were out to price gouge. HOWEVER, with Amy the experience she provided was a complete 180 from that. She takes time to answer your questions, and educates as you go along the process of purchasing a piece from her from the fine grain details such as materials to measurements. When I first got my 3 pieces from her, I was a bit skeptical on lengths, sizes, weight, etc. I didn't know how loose/tight/thick the chain and bracelette should have been. But she would always provide true and genuine answers as to what she believed would look best on me, and I am damn sure glad that I listened. She didn't just tell me to get the heaviest or biggest chain/bracelette/ring. So she's really a jeweler and stylist as well. The work she put out on the pieces themselves are also astoundingly elegant! Not only were my pieces done phenomenally, but the pieces in her showroom were also drop dead. I usually don't post many reviews on Yelp, however once in a blue moon there are businesses that deserve much more then a 5 star, and Diamonds Forever is definitely one of them! I am from the NYC area, where everyone "knows a guy" when it comes to jewelry. Moving to San Diego, I did not know where to go when I had to get a family ring re-created for my brother at his wedding. I found Jenny in mid 2006 and she was able to not only replicate the original from a drawing, she was able to add a modern touch to it. The next year it was my turn to start looking for engagement rings. She led me through the entire process and seemed to know what my fiancé wanted more than I did. After giving the diamond, my fiancé, Jenny and I designed a setting and matching wedding band. Jenny executed PERFECTLY! My now wife still receives countless compliments on her rings, I still catch her staring at her rings like she did the first day that I gave it to her. I should mention costs too. Diamonds Forever is very reasonable. Much more reasonable than I would have originally thought for custom jewelry and repair. Even compared to online stores Diamonds Forever is the better deal, throw in the excellent customer service and there is no question that Diamonds Forever is the best bet out there. I can't say enough good things about Jenny. She designed the most beautiful custom engagement ring. I get compliments wherever I go. I don't know that much about loose diamonds, but the one we choose for the center was GORGEOUS. So clear and sparkly. Jenny was so great. She listened to every word I said and then made a ring more beautiful than I described. It really felt like she cared about my ring as much as I did. Great job! I decided last minute that it was time to proposed NY Eve. I had noticed a jewelry store next to my gym so decided to check it out. Ben and Jenny made it painless as possible. They helped me pick out a diamond and suggested that I put it in a solitaire setting to propose. Since, there wasn't much time for anything else and I wouldnt' have a clue how to pick a fancy setting, I went with their idea. And, it was perfect. They had the ring readhy for me in a few days. A big shout out to everyone at Diamonds Forever. They brought the whole process of buying an engagement ring down to planet earth. They went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. I ended up going with a 1.5 carat diamond surrounded by pink sapphires. I was told that we could both come in after I proposed and redesign the ring with her. We haven't done that yet, but will in the next month or so. I also got her a pink sapphire pendant for her birthday. I gave it to her before I proposed to fake her out. It worked. I highly recommend to all guys out there to propose to her on her birthday. To start, she won't suspect a thing if you take her out to a fancy dinner. If you are anything like me, going to a jewelry store isn't really an enjoyable experience. You never seem to find what you want, and you are always baffled by their "special sales". While I understand the other jewelers have a very different business model, the choice on who to trust with my ring with was easy to make. They were incredibly helpful and when I asked if I should go bigger on my diamond, sweet Nancy told me not to because of my hand size. The team operates with so much integrity and Nancy was absolutely right, I LOVE the size of the diamonds I chose and this ring is a dream (and was much more affordable than I anticipated). In the middle of this whole process I also got my great aunts ruby ring reset in the original setting my mom inherited. They did this in one afternoon and charged $200 less than I was quoted elsewhere. I have a hobby of buying loose diamonds at auction and plan to have them all set into jewelry here because of the fantastic service and excellent work they do.
