I have been driving back to Broward for my annual eye exam since we moved here because I luckily have not had any issues with my eyes. I also love my optometrist there! I recently had an issue with my eyes, where I my vision was impaired and sort of seeing zig zag flashes. As we all do, I went to researching what it could be and all signs were pointing to retinal detachment. I went into panic mode, called my optometrist in Broward, and they directed me to go to an ER and request an on call emergency optometrist. When I called an ER, they said there is no such thing in Ocala, which I figured. So I decided to try showing up first thing in the am to Dr. Lentsch's office, hoping to receive care. Upon walking into the office, we were greeted immediately and offered assistance. I explained what was going on and the front desk associate said the Dr could not see me right away but she was able to squeeze me in the afternoon. Sucked because I had to move my schedule around but I had no idea what I was dealing with and I immensely appreciated the last minute fit in. She gave me paperwork to fill out, bring back, and took all my information then to be prepared for my appointment. We came back for our appointment and we were greeted with same friendliness as the morning. I handed over the paperwork and also informed her I filled it out online because it was sent to me in the interim. I was called in not too long after by another assistant. She asked assessment questions, performed some tests, then guided me to the exam room to wait for Dr. Lentsch. Dr. Lentsch came in not too long after, introduced himself, and shook my hand. Dr. Lentsch confirmed everything I had reported on the paperwork, along with my own report I created since the problem initiated. After dilating my eyes and looking over everything, I was informed that everything looked great and it was most likely Ocular Migraines. Dr. Lentsch suggested I get a CT scan, just to rule out anything serious. I was so relieved and Dr. Lentsch is one of those professionals you need in an anxious time. I was informed on my way out, at the front desk, that I should receive a bill in the mail. I excessively thanked the staff for taking me last minute and for their assistance and left. I HIGHLY recommend this office!

I finally had cataract surgery which was very successful. I did not feel anything. Dr Pollock is a superb eye surgeon. He also did surgery on my husband. I think that they don't want to admit that they made a MISTAKE in getting the correct strength lens for my right eye, and they don't want the expense of making this right. My left eye is not great but passable.

Today Dr Geering did extensive diagnostics (that the others did not provide) and found the issue. She gave me a treatment plain that I believe will take care of the problem. Folks, do yourself a huge favor and drive a few miles South to Warby Parker, at Wesley Chapel or one of many other locations. What a beautiful experience. For cataracts there are quite a few tests you must endure and everyone I encountered was happy to answer my inane questions (I nervous talk and ask dumb things just to fill the silence). Dr. Ireland could see how disappointed I was that the fancy Ferrari lenses would not work for me due to potential overlap with my LASIK scars being a hindrance rather than a help. She was able to offer a solution with a mid-range lens (neither far, nor near optimized, but mid-range vision like a computer screen). Because most of my work is done on a computer this was a good compromise. The wait after having eyes dilated is a bit longer. Bring something to occupy your time and you'll be fine. Or take a nap. At the time I had mine done I wasn't in my 50s, yet, and it was delightful to hear the other patients say, "but you're so young!" :D If you ever want to hear you're young, get arthritis and have cataracts before age 50, lol. Billing went smoothly. No issues there. I did have to pay a little extra for my Land Rover lenses versus the Corolla version. Be sure to ask more questions. I think I would have been fine with the Corolla (these are my layperson terms, not medical terms) and I should have inquired deeper, but as my mom still lives and breathes so too does she push for the "best" for me. Sometimes you have to ignore Mom, y'all. I'm not unhappy, but I will forever wonder if Corolla would have served me well. Aftercare was flawless. I am Well behind on my appointments due to life events (we all have Those things happen, right?). I'm looking forward to seeing the office staff at the Brownwood office and following up with Dr. Causey. Not only is he professional, but he's kind and happy to explain and listen to what's going on with your orbs. And yes, he also endures my inane questions.

Now my real issue: I decided to use Alphaeon Credit to pay for my lenses. BAD HORRIBLE IDEA. DO NOT EVER THINK OF USING this credit company. You are NOT given ALL info about the cc company at Lake Eye Asso. when you are first 'oriented' in There are LOTS of NON disclosed FEES, RIDGID RULES about how/when to access your account and make payments. AGAIN. DO NOT USE the Alphaeon Credit, Lake Eye Asso. Offers. Staff does NOT explain all charges and is pretty rigid. Not an over all fan.

ALL medical providers must, for insurance, HIPAA and other legal purposes, use patients' legal names for their records and insurance claims. Right? Right. However, medical (and all other service) providers should and must as a matter of courtesy and respect, in their offices, call and address people by the names they use and prefer. This Lake Eye Associates group of offices has for over a prolonged period failed/fails to annotate its patient charts with patients preferred names, in order to address patients by their preferred names. If service providers, ;such as this one, don't honor and respect patient desires in this small way, what else will they choose to neglect? This is a poor office practice that reulted/resutls in a poor office experience.

The communication with this organization is horrendous bc they have too many locations (they're at…read morea different location every day) and then, they PACK the patient schedule that the lobby is a can of sardines with people. Patients even wait outside or in their cars bc there are no available lobby seats. I have had to call all 4 locations to get a script for my father. Of the 20 calls I've made in the last 3 days, I've gotten to speak to a live staff member 3x. And bc it's at a dif location, the conversation is brand new to them. Nor do I think they listen to the VMs, if they actually listen to the VMs, they ignore or don't care about their patients bc the staff does not call back. I have not met the Dr, he's probably very skilled and knowledgeable. But go see a dif Doctor if you want better efficient care and effective communication.
