there is no rating on my behalf, just a poor phone skills review/comment. Upon calling for a relative the receptionist Nancy had poor phone skills after giving her the patient's name time and date of appointment , starts to ask others in office out loud who called this particular patient . needless to say she asked for the wrong person, I had to correct her. If this is how the phone calls initiate I can only imagine the actual appointments. read more

Had my cataract surgery in January 2025 and since then (the doctor quit) I have been unable to get the other eye done. They told me they would call me each month until the surgery was scheduled. They never called and each month I called them only to hear the same story each month. Even though I was told that I was on top of their list to get my surgery as of today it still has not been done and no schedule to so has occurred. The person whom I am talking with says the same thing each month--call us back and we will schedule your surgery. Last week she told me they would not even be able to schedule me until March if even then. There is no end in sight!!! read more

I have a list from my insurance company showing my plan and Envision as "in network" and yet they insist that they do not take my insurance. My mother went through Envision with her cataracts back in 2015 and I had to get the manager/supervisor/gal friday at Envision fired then, history may be repeating itself. Rude and very unprofessional, and not fully trained in their positions. Save yourself the BS and go elsewhere. read more

Good luck!! I was fitted in October for cataract surgery. It's been 4 months and still waiting for an appointment for surgery. When you contact the surgery center, the phone rings forever and once someone finally picks up, they put you on hold forever. Once you finally talk to someone, they give you the run around about how they don't have the schedule out yet, and they aren't scheduling people yet. Is this place a joke?????? Very unprofessional. read more

Our experience has been a nightmare. My mom has bilateral cataracts. she was referred there and pre-op appointment March 2025. They cancelled her surgery appointment multiple times then finally got her left eye done in November 2025. Her lens was malpositioned and he said it was no big deal but he can't fix it so they had us figure out where to go next. When she had her surgery by Dr Bernstein they had her come in at 9am and had her sit in the waiting room until after 1pm. Then when they finished they patched the incorrect eye. They also cancelled follow up appointments on the same day on more than one occasion. That office and surgery center seems to be extremely disorganized, not efficient and the surgeon was obviously not skilled. I do not recommend that office. read more

Amazing. We were scared after reading the other reviews but our experience couldn't have been better. The place was packed due to the flooded office in crystal river but we got in within 10 minutes. Dawn gave my wife an efficient eye exam and gathered all the background information. Victoria checked condition of the cataract and eye pressure. Dr. Ramsey made the diagnosis and ordered a YAG laser cleaning of the lenses . Excellent, efficient, personable and professional. read more

I accompanied my partner to her post-cataract appointment recently. Gio, the first person, who tests the pressure and visual acuity, is exceptional. His manner is kind and compassionate. Next, we saw Dr Bernstein. Dr. Bernstein is a professional and he tells it like it is. My partner was told that she had a macular hole from a younger less experienced ophthalmology person, who called himself Dr. P. For two days I saw my partner filled with anxiety and fear for her eyes. Upon returning to the office for a follow-up after being told my partner has a macular hole we saw Gio and Dr. Bernstein. Gio said with a soft and calming voice I will treat you like my family. Next, Dr. Bernstein reviewed my partner's screening and said there was no macular hole. We were so relieved to know we received the correct information. Again, thank you. As a retired professional, I feel so glad to visit a professional office that cares. They r the most horrible éye doctors around. Been waiting a year to have cataract surgery and was told they don't do surgery in June and July and I finally went to St.Luke's on my own. They suck! I would stay away from them! read more

dr Ross is only in this Ocala office once a month from what I hear but it's worth the weight. He is wonderful, compassionate, great bedside manner.. He is much better than the other Doctor Who did surgery on me in Ocala. Dr Ross treats me for severe dry eye eyelashes growing the wrong way into my eye. I had a Dr in the past. Tell me that there was a procedure that was out of pocket to help with the dry eye actually did the procedure without even concern of reimbursement. The eye doctor in Ocala. read more

After my diagnosis of cataracts, I sat with the surgery coordinator. I was asked to pay $95 for a kit that would include eye drops and a shield. I asked that rather I wanted a prescription sent to my pharmacy so my insurance would cover it. I also was told I needed a pre-op clearance from my PCP before surgery. I scheduled with my PCP and learned the necessary paperwork was not sent to their office after which made a 2nd appointment necessary to complete the pre-op assessment. Before my scheduled surgery I called to speak to the surgery coordinator on 3 different days, left messages that I needed the eye drop Rx and I had other questions. I never received a callback to any of my calls. I care for my adult son with special needs and made arrangements for him and myself for the surgery date. 2 days prior to surgery the Envision office called to cancel on me. Considering I had not received the drops I was to be using by then I felt using Envision Eye Specialist, Largo, isn't for me. read more

No stars. ALWAYS behind. You are there for an hour minimum waiting for appointments. Go elsewhere. Anywhere. There's only one star because I couldn't post with zero. read more

Excellent doctors and staff. Doctor Flores did a superb job on my cataract surgery. I see almost 20/20 now without glasses! Took awhile for all to get done because of surgery scheduling staff but it got done and I'm happy. Thanks read more

This place should have negative stars. the office staff lacks personal service training and getting information from them about anything is akin to reading classified documents. scheduled for cataract surgery not once, but twice because they needed to onboard a new surgeon. no phones, no emails, no contacting us. the front desk, especially the young blonde acts as if she got the short end of the stick and instead of a job at a premier plastic surgery office, she works here. the always ask for the older lady, she is VERY helpful! -- 5 stars. read more

This is by far the absolute worst eye care office I've ever had to unfortunate need to enter. They were the only office that would take my mother's Medicare for cataract surgery so she had little choice but to use them. Since my father has passed away it has fallen to me to transport mom to appointments of this nature. They were shockingly rude upon arrival. My mother was early for her 1pm appointment as she attempted to check in they rudely told her they are closed from 12-1 for lunch and she couldn't sign in. Then as we awaited the end of their lunch period my mother received a call from their office cancelling her appointment 15 mins from when it was scheduled. This was the third time they had cancelled her appointment. They certainly don't care about their patients or their patients wasted time. I've had veterinary eye doctors care for my pets with more professionalism and care than this group. If zero stars were an option I would give them a complete utter zero. If my mother needs further care I will take her to Tampa before I subject her to these clowns again. read more

I was kept waiting more than an hour and a half after my appointment time - and I did get there on time. By the time I was finally seen, two people who came in after me were finished. Additionally, I was told I had an outstanding bill from a different office from 2018. I paid it, but I don't believe it was really outstanding. I will be researching further. So typical. When Dr. Ross was the doctor who saw patients, I had a good experience. He decided to only do the surgery (seeing patients is apparently now beneath him), and so took on other ophthalmologists, added more offices, added opticians...and now the work is sloppy, unprofessional, and they have to overbook for HIM to make enough money. Will find another doctor, and it won't be Ocala Eye, who do the same thing - it's not a doctor's office, it's a Big Business, so overbooking is the only way they can all become RICH RICH RICH. read more

I waited a week after my referral was sent to the ocala office I finally called them to schedule an appointment was told they could see me in 2 months I never heard from them the day before my appointment to confirm so I called them oh yes your appointment is confirmed I later called back the same day to get their physical address again confirming my appointment. Next day arrived 15 min before my time to be told oh your appointment has been cancelled and rescheduled for another 2 months away. I asked why didn't t someone call me was told they had called me several times the day before no answer I said but I called you to confirm and was never told it had been cancelled. would not recommend this place for animals let alone ppl. read more

This company is not competent. Their equipment is antiquated and my exam was done by a non-professional with no degree and they dilated my eyes with 2 liquids which I had a bad reaction for over 2 weeks and finally saw the real Opthamilogist who never said a word that I had stage 3 cateracts and dry eye which was incorrect. I had neither and found out the real diagnosis after going to another doctor. Their testing was only the refraction exam and I was given an incorrect eye prescription and diagnosis! They should be shut down for their incompetence! read more

Where do I begin? Patient #88 is not happy. Why? 1. Not once did any of the doctors explain to my why they needed my pre-lasik records, what was going to happen and that there might be a chance my vision would not be corrected. It actually took the only knowledgeable worker in the Ocala office (Tish) to get even a bit of an explanation. Still I guess bottom line is that I felt left in the literal dark. 2. Surgery itself. yeah, right, Patient #88 and a guy I had never met and who never talked to me in a town (Citra) I had never been in. I was treated like a number and never felt informed the way I should have been. When I tried to explain to the anesthesiologist' that I had allergies I was told - 'Oh no one has a problem with Versid'. Luckily it was true in this case. 3. My vision is actually worse now than it was when I began (October). Oh, they removed the cataract (I hope) and SUPPOSEDLY fixed my astigmatism, but when I went to get new glasses.Yes, I still need them. The tech said 'Oh this is unusual. Your prescription is actually worse. The only thing better is the astigmatism.' What?! 4. Then let's talk about the eye drops for post surgery. There were 3. One of which was a generic prednisolone acetate. It made me nauseous and dizzy. So I stopped using it after 2 days. Tish got me a fast appointment in the Crystal River office and my husband took me there because I had so much pressure/pain I wasn't driving. Doctor V changed the drops to Durasol. ok. (I did tell anyone who would listen that I had lots of allergies!) So we went back home and to the nearest Walgreens. With a Good Rx coupon the bill was still $212.00. Actual cost of the little tiny bottle would have been $256. At no time was I ever informed that the drops would be so costly! What if I didn't have a credit card to pay for them?! I freaked out and called the provider. They said if I had the doctor call they could cover it but it was a brand name and not formulary (the joys of Medicare) I should say here that it was really appreciated that Dr. Vergara called my prescription company right away and someday they will refund $112 of my cost and it would ONLY be $100 for the little bottle. Maybe I'll see that money by next July. ***sigh*** Ah, yes, Durasol. I was so allergic that for the 3+ weeks I had to take it starting at 4 times a day, I had to pair it with a Benedryl. I spent a month in a fog. Granted - some of it is because I am a Princess (Doctor actually said so) and sensitive to some medication. At NO point did anyone at Envision have a Plan B for folks who were sensitive to the drops. 5. I was not told until afterwards that I might have to have a 'little prescription'. I feel like they are/were not telling me everything. Guess I found out what some of that was when I went to get my glasses. So, would I recommend this place if you have to get Cataract Surgery? Not really. While there were a few good folks (Dr. V, Tish and the lady at the desk in Crystal River - sorry I have forgotten her name), I would say find someplace else. As for me if this is the only place my insurance will let me go to, I will wear an eye patch on the other eye before I do this again. read more

Been trying to get an appointment since Oct 2019. Had one appointment and they said they didn't have my referral and authorization form frrom our health care provider. My doctor handed me the referral form and called Humana to get the authorization form. Finally getting an appointment for my husband and myself in Jan 2020. I made sure that they had everything they needed. I called two days before to double check. They actually called us the day before to remind us that we had appointments. Sure enough we get over there for our appointments and they tell us they don't have the authorization form. On top of that they tried to make it sound like it was our fault. I had already been going there for two years. Will never recommend them. Poor patient service. Also calling Humana to complain. read more

If leaving a ZERO Star review was possible, I would. We made an appointment in August, for October 1st. On September 30, they call and tell us that appointment has to be rescheduled, as the DR will be in surgery. No appointments available until October 28. THEY made the mistake, and were completely unwilling to accommodate us to make up for it. Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE!!!!! read more

Dr. Ross is an excellent doctor and surgeon. He is very professional and takes time to explain any questions that I have regarding my visits. I have been a patient of his since 1992 and am very pleased with his professionalism. He has been voted one of America's Most Compassionate Doctors, voted as one of America's top surgeons, voted as one of the top Ophthalmolgists in the Nation consecutively year after year, and for more than ten years straight. He has worked at a Level One Trauma Center for more than twenty years and has given back by training residents to follow in his footsteps--for more than twenty years too.
