The staff is absolutely incompetent. I scheduled and confirmed three times that an appointment would occur on 10/10. The desk clerk made it for 10/3 instead, which was not known to me. I missed the appointment as I was expecting 10/10, not 10/3. I then received a condescending text messaging stating I'd be assessed a penalty, and to make appointments in the future, I'd have to have a credit card on file. All because their staff is incompetent! Avoid this practice and Lens Crafters at all costs. The quality of service has gone down over the past years, but this mistake on their behalf just takes the cake! read more

I booked on a Friday evening for a Saturday afternoon appointment and had no issues whatsoever getting in and getting out with my new contact prescription in less than 30 minutes. I've been seeing Dr. Thomas for awhile now and LOVE him! He's genuinely friendly, professional, and keeps me abreast of all things going on with my eyeballs. I give him 5 stars alone. The reception needs work. This is the 2nd time that I'm promised that they'd call me when my contacts arrived and nothing but crickets on my end... I call and leave 2 voicemail messages a week and a half later with no returned call. Unacceptable. I do finally get confirmation that they are there and am offered no apology or anything. Receptionist should've known also to use my VSP insurance on my glasses (which were pretty expensive) rather than my contacts as they were significantly lower. I had to correct this and she still ran my debit card wrong and had to redo everything. Ughh! When I was there recently, a woman came in and yelled at the Receptionist because of a scheduling snafu. This doesn't look too good on them. The office is adjacent to Lens Crafters which is very convenient and makes it a one-stop shop for me. Because Dr. Thomas is so rockin', I'll continue my business here but I sure wish the front end would get their act together. read more

New to the area, I was looking to establish a relationship with an optometrist for a long overdue vision exam and ongoing vision needs. I was happy to call Dr. Thomas after reading the mostly positive Yelp reviews. The first three times I called (during normal business hours) no one answered. On the fourth attempt, a young lady answered but declined to make an appointment unless I gave her my credit card number "to hold the appointment." Since when do healthcare professionals ask for credit cards over the phone to hold appointments? My physician doesn't. My dentist doesn't. And my next optometrist won't either. Unfortunately, I have to agree with the reviewers who found the customer service at this establishment to be lacking. read more

I am extremely disappointed with this office. I have been going here for years now and have always had great experiences with Dr. Thomas as well as the front desk lady who previously worked here. She was extremely kind and helpful. However, there is a new man working at the front desk who is extremely rude. The other day I came in on the wrong day for my appointment. First of all, he does not wear a mask and this is a medical office. We are also having surging cases so this should not be acceptable. Then, I had my appointment today and called to say that I would be about 15 minutes late. Although this is a mistake on my end, the man was extremely rude about this. He told me that this is not acceptable and that I can not come in. I asked if I could atleast order my contact lenses as I had run out and have been using the same pair of dailies for 3 days already. He told me that I could not do this because my prescription had "expired." I do not have a pair of glasses so not having contacts has an extreme impact on my life. In addition, wearing the same pair of dailys would be much more dangerous and make me prone to eye infections. This is much worse than me choosing to order the same prescription I previously had. The man told me they are fully booked until January 8th when I will be gone to college. I will never return as the man was extremely rude. read more

I was in Phoenix visiting a friend and I informed her that I had not had an eye exam in over a year. She told me while I was in town that I should see her eye Doc, Dr Thomas. I called and was able to get an appt. From the moment I entered to office, I felt "safe" in these COVID times and the staff was very friendly and super helpful. The pre-exam was thorough - equipment was wiped down before and after the exam. I only waited a few min then Dr Thomas welcomed me and started the exam. Again all equipment was sanitized and I felt comfortable in the office. The exam was the most thorough eye exam I have ever had. He went over each test explaining everything. I have never had a Doc take so much time explaining everything in terms I could understand. There was no pressure to purchase anything. Dr Thomas did show me some glasses and took time to give me an idea of which frames would work best. Again I can not say enough of how easy and professional the entire staff was especially how kind Dr Thomas was through the entire exam. Thank you so much, highly recommend! read more

Really unhappy with this office. They are too lazy or disorganized to preauthorize your insurance like any other eye doctor I have gone to has. They instead told me they accept my insurance and had me pay the full cost upfront and told me they would submit the claim and I would be reimbursed. When I asked how long this would take, they originally told me 30 days which then turned into 90 days the next time I called. Called after 90 days and they tell me the claim was rejected and nobody bothered to call to tell me this. Then they tell me that LensCrafters, where their office is located, is in network with my insurance, but they are not. They are "separate" from LensCrafters, although you literally make appointments with them on the LensCrafters website and walk into the LensCrafters office to see them. So I am now out of pocket for the full cost despite having insurance that would have been accepted at many other offices. Only go here if you are happy to chase after them for information, otherwise I would avoid. read more

I have never had to wait during my appointments and it seems like I'm in and out but never rushed. They know all about the latest in contacts too. Came in for a routine prescription renewal for contact lenses. I was told I owe a certain amount and I paid that. Later got an email saying I owe 50 dollars more. I called them and they told me it was an error on their part but I need to give them my credit card number over the phone - no thanks. read more

Office is disorganized. Confused me with another patient when I called for information. Finally spoke with Dr. Thomas - who also confused me with another patient. Was incredibly rude when I asked him to confirm the birthdate on my chart ... to confirm he was actually looking at my chart! There have to be better alternatives in Scottsdale! Worst customer service I have ever experienced at a family owned independent practice. Already waited a week for an appointment despite telling them I believed that I may have an eye infection and wanted to be seen as soon as possible....I was 13 minutes late for an appointment when I received a call from the practice asking me if I was still coming. I returned the call almost immediately letting them know I was on my way but they did not answer the phone but left a message saying I had parked and will be there shortly. I called a second time a minute later and still no answer. I arrived at 12:58pm and there was a sign that stated they were closed for lunch until 2pm. In my mind, this means they had no intention of staying to begin with since within minutes of the original call they were already gone and didn't call before they left saying they would be out to lunch. At that point, I would have been able to answer the phone and tell them I was in the parking garage and walking there. They came back in at 1:15pm and I let them know the situation and that I was upset that they would just leave. She stated I had missed my appointment and that their employees need to have a lunch break and that the next first available appointment they have is 3pm that they could fit me in. No offer to see me quickly before they start back up at 2pm. No offer to call the doctor and ask if potentially he may be back early. Didn't feel like they should have called to say they would be going out to lunch. Continued to say I missed my appointment. Only after I got upset and presented the idea of calling the doctor or if they could see me at two did she say maybe. Even then continued to reiterate I had an appointment I missed. I understand I was late and if they would have called me to say they can't wait any longer I would have been able to say I am walking to the door or rescheduled if it was a big issue. I explained there were unique family circumstances that made me late and very little compassion for that. They are not a chain where you might be more understanding or needing to do strictly adhere to policy. They are a private practice where customer service should be their first priority. I will be finding another doctor from now forward. read more

Does not honor their appointments - despite multiple confirmations and reminders. Maintains two schedules - make sure if you schedule an appointment they put you on the one that they actually intend on honoring! No offer to reschedule or fit in - Rude receptionist's response "I know it's misleading but that's the way it is." We won't be back - and that is the way it is. read more
